2.15pm - on now.

It’s just …

I can hear my heart thumping.

Liked this programme when it was only 15 minutes. This is a fabulous extension. But I’m going to be crying by the end.

Oh I really liked the 15 minute slots. Will bookmark this to listen to later, thanks.

BlueCowWonders · 16/09/2021 14:32

This is so well acted! Always one of the best things on R4.

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 16/09/2021 14:59

Damn - crying again. Only halfway through!

It gets me the same way Edmontina and I have a heart of stone.

Thursday's was the stroke one wasn't it? That was a damn fine listen.

I am listening to it on the app. Not sure I can go for longer than one episode. I am crying too.

Grin

I seem to recall it calms down a bit after a while.

(BTW, nauticant, if you haven’t come back to TA you should! It’s epic at the moment.)

Lord! Listening now after months - and I’m crying again.

Amazing series.

@EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues thanks for posting this. Have spent an hour this morning doing housework and listening to the first few episodes. It's superb.

Brilop · 14/04/2023 09:43

Is there a new series?

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 14/04/2023 09:54

Glad you enjoyed it. The quality of Radio 4 drama has fallen off several cliffs compared to what it was say 15 or 20 years ago - so I rarely feel any urgent hope or peril (outside of The Archers). But yesterday afternoon listening to Life Lines I was almost screaming “Get her out, get her out, please get her out!” at my radio.

An hour’s housework already is impressive! I was up at 6.30am for Ocado, but have done nothing since except curl up on the sofa with radio, emails, MN.

I wondered if this thread had revived with the repeated (most recent?) series.

Just saw your comment about TA Edmontina. I can't go back, the Eastendersification of the programme* saw me off for good. Occasionally I catch bit and think "who are these people?", I'm that much out of the loop.

* the shift of the focus from characters onto stories

Philandbill · 27/04/2023 09:09

Have now listened to the whole series, excellent drama. Anyone got any recommendations as to what to listen to next?

I’m not actually obsessed - but just noticed the writer will be on Feedback today.

Been listening to all the episodes of this fabulous series on my morning runs and sad to have come to the end today. I notice that the last episode is from over a year ago. Does anyone happen to know if there will be a new series?

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 09/08/2023 08:14

On the one hand it would be excellent to have more - but as we know, more doesn’t always mean better, nor even as good as …

‘The Citadel’ (socio-medical, a bit ‘Home Front’ / ‘Call The Midwife’, same 2.15pm slot) is also excellent, but only seems to be weekly, and you can’t listen ahead.

Series 7 starts next week, on Tuesday 13 August.

The following episode is on the following day, Wednesday 14 August.

nauticant · 09/08/2024 08:24

Should have tagged in @TweeBeewho asked the question.

TweeBee · 09/08/2024 14:41

Thank you @nauticant . I actually heard the trailer for this yesterday in the car and was excited!
Only thing is my running has very much dwindled over the holidays, hopefully this will spur me on!

The citadel is another great story

All the older episodes are currently on Sounds (haven't checked whether the new series is there in full now as I have a lot to get through first). Thanks so much for all who recommended it. It's very good.
