Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you wish we heard more from Shula, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3853783--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-5-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

So! 2021 beckons. Big anniversary next Friday, 1.1.21 (and to mark that we have episodes Tuesday-Friday next week). What would we like to see happen? I may be in a minority of one, but I'd like a nice gentle character-driven episode. I don't think we'll get that, but I really, really hope they don't kill someone else off, just for the headlines.

John Rowe (Jim) is 80 today. Actors actors are a tough breed!

Which of the younger generation do we think might be still in the cast if TA reaches its century? That would be quite something. With luck and a following wind, I might still be around for that. I think by that stage Tracy and Susan might be the matriarchs of the village.

Archers actors, even. Why do the typos leap out as I click post?! Blush

Because it is always in the Oh No second that you notice mistakes.

I thought Peggy was very restrained in not telling Chris to stop patronising her and lying to her!

I think Chris is lying to himself about how bad it really is, and how bad it's going to be - partly because he doesn't have the experience Peggy does. (He was also lieing about the fortnight in Bath and so on, but he knows that.)

I don't know if it's lieing or lying, nor if there's a difference between telling fibs or being on a bed. I don't care quite enough to look it up right now.

ILoveShula · 01/01/2021 18:49

Not long now.
I keep thinking it's Sunday.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2021 18:58

I'm going with Freddy takes the (leading) reins of LL- closure for Nigel's anniversary.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 01/01/2021 19:04

Too excited!

PoulePouletteEternellement · 01/01/2021 19:05

Kenton to cop it ...?

Hoghgyni · 01/01/2021 19:06

(Long time lurker & prolific poster in the Helen & Rob years here.) I don't want another life changing crisis tonight.

I could say that they would have heard that on Radio Borsetshire yesterday....

PoulePouletteEternellement · 01/01/2021 19:09

Oh. Sweet.

(Not the 'E' but the sentiment.)

What for, anyway???

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2021 19:11

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2021 19:14

Has Philip lied through his teeth about what's happened?

OP posts:
Octothorpe · 01/01/2021 19:15

Is this the 'life-changing crisis?'

Yawn

PoulePouletteEternellement · 01/01/2021 19:15

Brought it on herself, unfortunately ...

Xmas Sad
Sunnysausage · 01/01/2021 19:16

And that is the definition of anti-climax...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2021 19:16

I was really, really hoping for a sinkhole. Sad I wouldn't class that as life-changing unless they go for a protracted period of imprisonment, a dramatic trial and a sensational acquittal. That has a familiar ring to it, somehow. Hmm

FlosCampi · 01/01/2021 19:18

He must have : revenge? Trying to make them out to be a couple of do gooders?

PoulePouletteEternellement · 01/01/2021 19:18

Yeah, I was looking forward to the sinkhole.
