Archers Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads and @DadDadDad for being our resident statistician and keeping the ball rolling when Pseudo stepped back a bit.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to be Susan's best friend or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3439443-keep-it-to-yourself-the-archers-spoilers-thread-4, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Archers Thanks to @QuaterMiss for the title of this thread. For reasons of space had to cut out the bit speculating about Oliver and Tracy pairing off. Surely not! Shock

Off now to give blood, something nobody in Ambridge ever does. Hmm See you all later.

I'm just not keen on Peggy roping Jakob in unwittingly in her little scheme to get at Kate.

MargueritaBlue · 02/09/2019 13:33

The Brookfield marriage venue is utter nonsense.

C8H10N4O2 · 02/09/2019 14:36

The Brookfield marriage venue is utter nonsense

But they have a "lovely barn".

Obviously going from an oversized empty shed to full scale wedding venue with all the licences, facilities and furniture required in the space of a couple of months is just trivial.

And obviously also in a world where weddings are planned a year or more in advance it totally makes sense that guinea pigs would be queuing up to use the lovely barn.

You are such a sceptic Marguerita - obviously GoldenPip has just waved a magic wand

C8H10N4O2 · 02/09/2019 14:37

Whilst Kate got exactly what she deserved it was unkind to Jakob both to spin the lie further and for him to miss his film.

I'd rather Peggy had dealt with Kate one to one.

chemenger · 02/09/2019 14:38

Obviously a caring brother like David is supporting his sister’s struggling wedding venue business by... opening a competing wedding venue.

C8H10N4O2 · 02/09/2019 14:39

At least stage I was hopeful that we might lose both Grundy boys on Friday

Exactly this.

QuaterMiss · 02/09/2019 14:59

At least I was hopeful that we might lose both Grundy boys on Friday.

Shock

Now that’s just harsh.

How could you do that to Clarrie? Or Eddie? Or Joe???

I'm just not keen on Peggy roping Jakob in unwittingly in her little scheme to get at Kate.

I got the distinct feeling that Jakob knew what was going on: I was sure I heard him suppressing laughter at least once while Peggy was making Kate squirm a bit.

Kate was the one who told Jakob a pack of lies; Peggy just played along with the lies Kate had told him. I think he has more reason to dislike Kate for them than to dislike Peggy for exposing them.

Motoko · 02/09/2019 15:09

I listened to it this afternoon. I did enjoy Peggy milking the carer aspect, but I hoped she would be straight with Jakob and tell him the truth about Kate's lies. I mean, he's got to find out sooner or later, what she's like, better to let him know now, before he gets hurt falling in love with a fantasy person.

I did feel a bit sorry for Will when he broke down to Clarrie. I'm glad Eddie was booking him an appointment with the GP.

Motoko · 02/09/2019 15:11

I got the distinct feeling that Jakob knew what was going on: I was sure I heard him suppressing laughter at least once while Peggy was making Kate squirm a bit.

Really? I didn't get that at all.

faceorembrace · 02/09/2019 15:14

I thought Peggy very deftly illustrated to Kate what her lies mean. If she is pretending to be a carer to get a boyfriend, she has to face up to the reality of living that lie. And that means you have to spend substantial time actually caring at your own expense.

Tonnerre · 02/09/2019 16:19

I didn't think Jakob knew what was going on. He's not really the type to catch on to nuances.

I didn't get the impression Jakob knew. He is being presented as possibly having Aspergers syndrome and he takes every thing very literally.

MrsGrindah · 02/09/2019 19:01

Uh oh...just seen that tonight is the return of Lexi. Might give it a wide berth.... no pun intended !

MargueritaBlue · 02/09/2019 19:07

Oh fgs I missed the start of tonight's episode- did Golden Pip win the conservation prize?

Oh what a bore and now we have Adam whinging about it. What a bore.

StillDumDeDumming · 02/09/2019 19:13

Yip! It’s Pip! Who is now boring on about pissing her parents off...

MargueritaBlue · 02/09/2019 19:14

Might give it a wide berth...

Awful so far. Golden Pip squeaking; Adam moaning; Jenny wittering on.

Lexi is sounding a teeny bit less unenthusiastic- I wonder if there is going to be a change of heart about handing over the baby?

And more crap about Tracey and the GG ghost.

To quote MikeUniformMum have I mentioned I really don't like Pip?

MrsGrindah · 02/09/2019 19:15

Thanks for sparing me the pain!

C8H10N4O2 · 02/09/2019 19:21

Gods Adam was in maximum bore mode tonight. I'm trying to remember when I last heard Tired Man sound happy about anything - when was it?

Pip was tedious but then she always is. Rex and Phoebe should leave her to whine and crack on with it.

C8H10N4O2 · 02/09/2019 19:23

I wonder if we will be given a rationale for the decision on the money. I wonder if it was the only proposal which wasn't first and foremost about getting the cash?

MrsGrindah · 02/09/2019 19:24

Wasn’t the rewilding primarily Phoebe and Rex’s idea anyway? Pip was a bit dismissive initially IIRC.

MrsGrindah · 02/09/2019 19:24

Oh God, why do I care?!

Bellaisoneluckywoman · 02/09/2019 19:26

Oh yes - Lily!! What of her and her sleazy consort?

As you were.....

R4 · 02/09/2019 19:30

Ugh. It didn't take me long to remember how much I dislike Lexi. She's such hard work.

MargueritaBlue · 02/09/2019 19:33

We really need to know what is happening at Lower Loxley.

Is Lily going back to uni? Term for Manchester starts in 2 weeks time. If she is, is CMR staying on (almost certainly) and is CMR going to further inveigle himself into Lizzie's good books? (almost certainly)

CMR might be loathsome but at least he isn't dull.
