Zoe Ball on Radio 2

I haven’t heard a lot so apologies if my perceptions seem wrong.. When I’ve heard her, she reminds me of a contestant on Just a Minute: she has to unnaturally stretch some of her words and comments to fill the time she has. I’ve also never heard her say a word of anything she appears to have thought herself. She laughs, she introduces guests and asks them questions, but nothing seems to come from her.
She reminds me of Ant and Dec: proficient in their field but of no more interest than that.

I quite like Sara Cox for the fact that you get a sense of her.

All of the above said, I can’t deny that it’s admirable for anyone to hold together a programme professionally and obviously that’s a skill she has.

I’d love to know if anyone disagrees with me.

Jeremy Vine is spectacularly dim and should be ashamed of himself for his lowest common denominator approach. I’ve heard interviews on his show that have been nothing more than him feeding

Oops! Feeding guests lines of total stupidity. And also interviews with guests who have clearly found Vine to be utterly idiotic.

So disappointed in both Zoe and Sara's shows. ZB show is just a bit dull, she could do with a team to interact with a bit more and have some chat. The music in both shows is just dire - I enjoy a bit of 80s/90s, but some more current tunes would be welcome!

Actually I noticed this morning she seemed to have a team. I think when she first started there was literally no one. Now there's seemed to be more input from 2 guys?

I don’t mind Zoe; but I agree she just ‘holds the show together’ rather than bringing her own personality to it. I usually arrive at work before the cringe fest that is ‘show and tell’, but if I don’t then I turn it over.
I love Sara Cox and think she’s doing a great job. Can’t stand her audience games either though so also often switch off.

Is it Sara Cox who has the feature where you listen to someone calling a friend and trying to make them say a certain phrase? I heard it once and it was excruciating, so intrusive and embarrassing. I haven't listened since but seeing as we avoid ZB too, I can't remember which DJ it was.

I have listened to morning radio since Noel Edmunds dtd 😏 but have boycotted Radio 2 in the morning since January, as though the suits at R2 give a shite otherwise the 7:45 cringe that is Tarquin singing his poem would be right out the window. Just can’t believe how fucking awful the programme is. Sara Cox got the best deal. Who wants to be behind a mic at 6.30am. Though think AJ Borg would be excellent in the slot. He’s in the midnight to early morning shift and current standing in for Rylan on Saturday. When are the listener figures going to be released? Maybe I should start a pro AJ Borg thread.

Zoe Ball is obsessed with what’s on tv - it’s all she talks about - drives me insane along with her sycophantic interviewing of celebs - just awful

I liked Zoe's Saturday show so was looking forward to the new breakfast show. But as PPs have said, it's dull and yes, she's obsessed with TV. Does my head in! I imagine it'll be worse later in the year when Strictly starts. I've already switched over.

Zoe Ball has kept her listening figures the same. Chris Evans has increased Virgins figures, not surprisingly. Steve Wright has increased - that is a surprise.

Haven’t listened to Zoe atall, I didn’t mind Chris but I absolutely loved Sir Terry, he used to have me in stitches. I turn on for Ken Bruce and Jeremy Vine. Not keen on Jeremy but I like the show. I always turn off Steve laugh a minute Wright, can’t bear him or any of his team.

Zoe Ball has kept her listening figures the same. I can't see that being down to her though. I think it's just habit for people. And I can't find Chris on DAB and DAB always drops out for me. Otherwise I would be listening to him

I really like Zoe Ball and enjoy listening. I like Sara's show as well. To be honest I'm happy as long as I listen to a bit of Ken every day and do Popmaster. No one will ever be able to replace him.

I really don't enjoy Zoe. Her 'hello superstars' makes me cringe and the kids segment is awful.

Oh and the 'prod squad.' I know what she means but I'm from Glasgow where that has very different connotations.

People just accept what they are given from Auntie. It's difficult to change habits and the BBC is such a behemoth of broadcasting.and there's really very little choice if you want to avoid adverts.

Wasn't he on 2m at the BBC? Doubt he'd take a pay cut. Maybe he gets shares too. He was an insufferable twat during his final months at radio 2. Is he still boring on about his kids and his cars and his enormous house/pub at Virgin?
