Well hasn’t it been a fun few years! Thank you all for supporting the threads and sharing in love and critique of The Archers.

And in the spirit of the thread:

My little late for work thoughts.

Elizabeth went through a redevelopment not so long back and borrowed a lot of money iirc - so absolutely no business could equal no home.

I would want my boy back too.

We hate Natasha because of how she makes Tom even more annoying and pig headed/ superior and not for anything she has done herself so much...maybe?

Perhaps but then a woman is still being blamed for a man's behaviour. Tom is a bit of a plonker. If I were Natasha's parent I'd be at least as concerned about Tom's interest being in her assets as Pat'n'Tony are from the other PoV.

Similarly if I were investing in building up a new business proposition why would I had all that investment over to another business rather than keep it as a distinct, jointly owned entity? She hasn't proposed making it a part of her business which would be just as reasonable as making it part of the Archer business.

5000FlapjacksofJillArcher · 07/03/2019 08:27

Natasha has also committed the egregious sin of constant 'nibbling' when it comes to food, and rejecting Pat's hearty casseroles with a
disdainful tinkling laugh because she can't/won't eat perfectly normal ingredients. A sure sign that she won't fit into the family and is a wrong'un from the get-go.

RadioCarter · 07/03/2019 08:38

She comes across as smug. Not knowledgeable nor confident, but smug. There's a bit of 'teaching your grandmother to suck eggs' in her treatment of Pat'n'Tone. The over-generous gifts are a sign that her EQ is off; they feel like a trap, like trying to create obligation, rather than the natural expression of a warm-hearted person.
I'll admit that she got stuck in with the planting of the saplings but first impressions haven't worn off yet.

She's quite right to reject cinnamon, though.

Love the bunting Davidx3. I hope I don't get confused and start posting it in the wrong threads.

I'm still not convinced that the wedding is going to happen: Will Hannah come in wailing...

ppeatfruit · 07/03/2019 09:19

grumios You're asking the S.W's to give up one of their favourite plot devices, which is asking the participants in a fledgling relationship to speak clearly and tell the truth to each other.

Echtian A very clever change of your username. [impressed emoji]

TheSilveryHildaOgden · 07/03/2019 10:04

It seems bizarre and unrealistic to me that Freddie would be barred from living at home. What on earth is the justification for that?

RadioCarter · 07/03/2019 10:14

Plot device?Grin
I suppose that they don't want him returning to the scene of the crime. And you can't use the 'his mumsy will oversee him' argument because he is (technically) an adult.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 07/03/2019 10:37

Must say I'm impressed with the way the tiny story of Freddie's GCSE retakes has escalated to potentially bringing down the entire House of Pargetter.

Of course, given his character flaws, he might have got into drug dealing with just as much alacrity at the Cathedral School - but he wouldn't have come up against the rat Russ.

And it's such an insignificant thing - where he sleeps when he comes out. But Elizabeth, in her current state, is incapable of thinking clearly. And she's hardly going to listen to Kenton.

EcclesThePeacock · 07/03/2019 10:41

He isn't. But LL might not be able to get its liquor license back if it has a convicted drug dealer living there. It's a good distinction, and why they're in this bind.

On this rare occasion, Kenton is the voice of reason. Freddie would be fine just down the road with Aunty Shula and her horses, it's not like it's a massive distance.

Motoko · 07/03/2019 10:42

Well, I hope being in prison has hardened him a bit, and stopped his whining.

EcclesThePeacock · 07/03/2019 10:53

It would be really good if Freddie gets wind of the licence issue and tells his mother that he's going to stay with Shula.

I got the impression lily might have been wavering just a bit in her stance as the reality of ruining the business began to sink in - again, I hope I'm right. Actually, Russ might even turn out to have some use on this....

LyndaSnellsbrECHTianproduction · 07/03/2019 11:08

Thank you, ppeatfruit

It's a bugger's job trying to ring the changes on my username, I can tell you. :o

ppeatfruit · 07/03/2019 11:29

It's a bugger's job trying to change my username at all which is why I didn't Grin

DavidDavidDavid · 07/03/2019 12:52

Eccles, I think if Russ tries to weigh in as another "voice of reason" on Freddie it will probably get Lizzie's back up even more. I think the only person who can help Lizzie see sense is Freddie (possibly with backup from Lily or Shula). As you say, Lily needs to accept the reality and pay her brother a visit.

I guess the concern is the psychological blow to Lizzie. She seems to have tied her recovery to having Freddie back at LL.

EcclesThePeacock · 07/03/2019 13:24

OTOH, if Russ expresses views to lily suggesting he's interested in the fortunes of LL, it may wake her up to his possible motivations...

TherapistInATabard · 07/03/2019 13:34

I'm loving all the delurking and name changing. I'm hardly recognising anyone, it's like we're all newbies Smile

DavidDavidDavid · 07/03/2019 13:38

Wouldn't it be funny if MN declared a new policy banning name-changing, so we were all stuck with our current names. Grin

By the way, I've noticed an awful lot of your names are referencing Lynda Snell in some way. What a great character she is and I've not heard her recently. We need some Lynda!

chemenger · 07/03/2019 13:45

Since my long forgotten prediction of Brian and Jenny moving into LL to help Elizabeth has failed to come to fruition I have a new one. I’ll will be sold to developers (ie Justin) and converted into luxury apartments, Brian and Jenny will move into one (knock down price from Justin, who will have lost even more friends by making Elizabeth homeless) and return to gracious living.

HelloYouTwo · 07/03/2019 14:29

Amazing to have a 100th thread! I’ve lurked and delurked under many name changes since the first thread and the days of AmEx and I suspect I enjoy the threads more than the programme. Thank you to Pseudo/Infested Badger for starting them and to all you funny and dedicated regulars who make the threads so interesting.

I have name changed in honour and will attempt to stay around in this guise a bit more. Haven’t heard last night’s but caught Justin showing Ed and Em round their house earlier this week. Isn’t that really very odd? He’s not the site manager, he’s the parent company CEO isn’t he?

ConstanzaLlama · 07/03/2019 16:02

Is CMR still sleeping in Freddie's bedroom? What will happen if Freddie does come back to LL? I guess at least we aren't hearing the Radio sex and kisses of CMR and Lily. Heaven forbid!

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/03/2019 16:12

I think CMR and Lily have their own room now but Freddie will object to him being there at all.
