I actually don’t really understand what Adam is doing as I find his voice a bit too easy to tune out of. Is it exploiting animals?

EcclesThePeacock · 17/03/2019 16:16

It's this sort of thing, I think

StillDumDeDumming · 17/03/2019 16:51

Ok so it’ll be a question of the living conditions for the fish and whether they’re harvested versus the eco benefits. Could go either way but in a commercial setting I’d imagine it’s less likely to be acceptable to a vegan. I’m vegan and a bit undecided about how I feel about it.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 17/03/2019 19:10

Oooooh ... Have we found out Leonard's dark secret?

EcclesThePeacock · 17/03/2019 19:18

I really need to start listening to the radio rather than podcasts again, just for the continuity announcer... 'tomorrow, Russ is not impressed ... perhaps he's been looking at his artwork'Grin

FisherKingBlues · 17/03/2019 19:47

Yes Eccles! Loving the continuity!!

BertrandRussell · 17/03/2019 20:02

Oh, ffs-now they are making Jill into some sort of simpering girly girl. And she’ll have a makeover and Leonard will say “but my darling, I love your fresh and natural self” It’s all such sexist bollocks. And Leonard’s lies about being able to paint but that’s all just sweet and cute.......

EcclesThePeacock · 17/03/2019 20:06

I did like Leonard's astonishment and delight about the lamb in the oven though.

GabrielleNelson · 17/03/2019 20:16

He didn't lie about being able to paint, he was being modest/self-critical/diffident. I also liked his reaction to the lamb.

Motoko · 17/03/2019 20:43

Most artists I know are self critical, and many people who do something arty as a hobby, won't even try certain techniques, because they think they "can't", or they'll "do it wrong".

The episode tonight seemed quite bitty to me. Not sure why. The thing with Jill moaning about her clothes was unnecessary, unless there's going to be a storyline coming from her having a make over.

And Tom and Pat thinking that Helen's just tired, is the same story as Elizabeth and her family. Getting deja vu. Is she also going to have to have a breakdown before anyone realises, and she gets help?

ConstanzaAndSalieri · 17/03/2019 21:09

Why is Pat taking up Henry’s trousers when they’ll be ok for Jack in a few years time?

RadioCarter · 17/03/2019 21:19

Hmm. Those of you getting all TASWAMA about Natasha being described by her appearance, are you also upset by Leonard being described similarly?

And I return to my theme that Pat is a numpty. She was annoyed with Tom but wouldn't say why, he had to drag it out of her. Then it turned out that she had no need to be annoyed because Tom and Helen had talked and sorted it all. Meanwhile she is doing the walking-on-eggshells thing with Helen and trying to work out why she is acting weird. Guess what: Pat got that wrong, too.
Why doesn't she just talk to/with her children?

RadioCarter · 17/03/2019 21:37

Was tonight a compare&contrast? Helen getting uptight about the Montbelliarde calving, and making her usual mountain out of a molehill. Meanwhile, Brookfield just get on with lambing and if there is a tricksy moment they deal with it efficiently, because they are confident that they know what to do because they have done this a thousand times before.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 17/03/2019 22:10

But Helen isn't worrying about the cows. She probably hasn't given them a thought. She's distraught about Lee.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 17/03/2019 22:13

She’s not het up about the calving though, is she? She’s het up about the fact that she’s realised Rob hasn’t “left” her and has buggered up her chances of future happiness.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 17/03/2019 22:13

Must refresh before posting 🙄

RadioCarter · 17/03/2019 22:22

I think that she is het up about the calving. She will be micro-managing Tony, the expert cowman, just like she micro-managed Clarrie and Susan over the fruit yoghurts they have been making for the past few decades.
I grant that the het-up-ness may well be a distraction technique from Rob/Lee but the point still stands.

TheSilveryHildaOgden · 17/03/2019 22:33

I was watching a bit of Countryfile earlier this evening, and was amused to find it featured a pregnant Suffolk Punch mare called Lexi...

LillianandJustin · 17/03/2019 22:36

Most interesting comment tonight was that Helen is keeping herself so busy she’s barely sat down to eat a proper meal. Alarm bells should be going off all over.

Motoko · 17/03/2019 22:45

Exactly. As I said up thread, this is going the same way as Elizabeth, with nobody in her family noticing something was wrong.

RadioCarter · 17/03/2019 22:55

this is going the same way as Elizabeth
Except that Helen has history. Pat should be wondering if Helen is slipping into anorexia again. As I said, the woman is a total numpty, forever mithering but usually in the wrong direction.

LillianandJustin · 17/03/2019 22:56

For all that Pat is a caring mum who is constantly concerned about her daughter to the extent of still having her living at home, she is completely blind to her distress signals. She’s fussing and fretting about the fact that Tom and Natasha might at some time in the future build a bungalow that she and Tony might or might not be persuaded to move into thus leaving Helen and the boys looking for somewhere else to live possibly while ignoring the fact that her anorexia-prone daughter has stopped eating.

LillianandJustin · 17/03/2019 22:58

Forever mithering but usually in the wrong direction says it much more succinctly.

Motoko · 18/03/2019 04:03

Ah, I didn't know about the anorexia, that was before my time. You'd think Pat would be aware of the signs then.

BertrandRussell · 18/03/2019 06:26

I think that most people who’ve gone through what Pat’s gone through with her children would be a bit traumatized, to be honest...
