Well hasn’t it been a fun few years! Thank you all for supporting the threads and sharing in love and critique of The Archers.

Matt Crawford's Hit and Run... was it really Nic wot done it or was it a mysterious crime boss getting his own back? When will it come to light again?

Yeah it was Nic, because Will cleaned up her car, and went down the road to check if it was Matt, or just an animal.

And Natasha's parents did get there half way through the ceremony.

I agree the wedding episode was underwhelming. They tried to inject some tension with Tony and Nat getting stuck in a traffic jam, but other than that, it just felt a bit flat.

BringbackCharlie · 08/03/2019 20:12

Missed it (the phone range at 7 for a work thing - I'll train them later).

Will I be too angry if I listen to the episode tonight as I am trying to fall asleep, or should I listen to get me out of bed for an early start tomorrow?

Unresolved storyline

  • did the golf club ever persuade Martin to settle his bar bill?

I'm also worrying about the 2018 Lower Loxley wine - it ought to have been excellent.

Will Shula ever go on her holiday to discover herself (or whatever it was that prompted the desire to divorce Alistair)?

ConstanzaLlama · 08/03/2019 20:15

I think Shula will discover herself at Spiritual Home whilst doing Tai Chi with Lee and comparing (framed) posters

JazzersMaw · 08/03/2019 20:17

Lexy, it was ma hair do not my hat that got drookit in the rain. I didn’t want to wear the hat I wore tae that fateful April non-wedding. Now back at Meadow Rise and getting warm and dry and had some dinner too.

thesurreyyouth · 08/03/2019 20:52

Unresolved story - was it George that took the (church?) money? I vaguely remember money going missing and George being a bit flush but don’t recall a conclusion.

HelloYouTwo · 08/03/2019 21:31

Unresolved story, wasn’t there a fire around the time of the bunting? The henhouse was it? There was a spate of petty crime which was never solved.

Also the usual list of misper- Carol, Kathy (on holiday but where’s Jamie), Olwen, Alan’s daughter Amy, what about Usha’s Aunty Satya. Would love to hear Robin Fairbrother again. Did Lower Loxley suffer much from the hallowe’en disaster and did they ever refund those angry visitors?

ScruffGin · 08/03/2019 23:19

I'm definitely intrigued as to what happened to the bunting...

GeorgeTheBleeder · 09/03/2019 06:22

Oh good. Just time to make some coffee before Farming Today on Soil at 6.30. On a farm in Wolverhampton.

Texelcowboy · 09/03/2019 06:38

Just checking in to thank Pseudo and co for the marvellous threads! Oh, and to try out my new name 🐑Smile

LizziesTwin · 09/03/2019 06:51

I realised belatedly that I was so busy chatting about the Archers that I left my books with the sales assistant. Hope they are still there this morning.

DavidDavidDavid · 09/03/2019 07:41

I'm going to have to say it: I think bunting has become an unhealthy obsession on these threads, and it's time to let it go...

I mean, I would suggest a group therapy trip to the town of Buntingford, but as I spent most of my teaching career there, I'm probably better off leaving that alone.

KateMadikane · 09/03/2019 08:11

Are Welsh actors particularly expensive (maybe because they speak so. slowly.)?
Surely if your daughter was getting married you would travel up the night before?
Listening this am over breakfast, DS asked what homeopathy was. I said medicine without science and he told me medicine works if you believe in it.

BuckingFrolics · 09/03/2019 08:23

Natasha has not a bean to her name. She's in humongous debt. Marrying Tom is her pennant

WhoEatsPopTarts · 09/03/2019 08:27

Unresolved storyline - the new owners of Brian and Jenny’s house will we ever get to meet them?

TheSilveryHildaOgden · 09/03/2019 08:59

I must say, I was surprised to hear that Bridge Farm used homeopathy. Plus how do they get the cows to believe in it?

GeorgeTheBleeder · 09/03/2019 09:01

Kate (!) IIRC the SWs carefully inserted the information, via Tom, that her parents had a 'prior engagement' and so would be travelling on the wedding day.

It's hard to tell whether this was to facilitate Natasha's heart to heart with Tony in the car or just because they couldn't afford two more voices. Was unconvincing either way.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 09/03/2019 09:03

Kate, your DS has a future in yurts. All is well.

In a previous episode something was mentioned about Natasha’s parents having a previous engagement they were struggling to get out of. I strongly suspect it was a subsequent engagement, rather than prior.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 09/03/2019 09:05

X post 🙄 I was feeling so proud too because I think that’s the first time I’ve known something useful 😂 (by some definition of useful...).

Bellaisoneluckywoman · 09/03/2019 09:23

Morning all. I do love this thread.

Agree nuptials were massive damp squib. Was wondering if I should worry that I'd been craving some soapy drama and should have stern words with myself, but maybe it was just - dull.

Oh - and concerned fellow threaders can breathe easy; Bella offspring both safe and well. They were surprisingly well behaved last night obviously nothing to do with the fact that they were plugged into their phones for entire journey

Bellaisoneluckywoman · 09/03/2019 09:24

Oh - and also.... I suspect that heart-to-heart in car moment was supposed to make us WARM to Natasha. Hasn't done it for me yet

TumbledTussocks · 09/03/2019 09:36

Funny how Tony is unsure and Natasha talks him round, Pat was trying to be supportive and at Natasha's mention of becoming Mrs Archer runs cold. Contrast with Chris and Alice being a supportive couple on the sane pate the night before. (Can't stand the pair but always nice to see a supportive couple.)

ADarkandStormyKnight · 09/03/2019 09:38

Hmm.. I think the whole wedding thing showed us that the marriage is based on some misconceptions.

Natasha thinks Tom is more honest than he is.
Tom thinks Natasha is stronger than she is.

I think Natasha wants to be an Archer because she sees Bridge Farm as a sort of utopia.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 09/03/2019 09:49

I must say - I would probably feel like Pat. Just imagine feeling yourself replaced in the familial hierarchy by a woman you neither know nor like. She's taking your name and all the goodwill and kudos you've built in your social and, more importantly, business life over decades.

Nah ... Patio ...

ADarkandStormyKnight · 09/03/2019 10:03

I can't imagine living with Hannah and Jonny is going to be much fun. I think reality will hit home pretty quickly.
