Welcome..... I'd concocted a longer title with all sorts of references to bitch stitching and pasta bakes, but was thwarted by the pesky character limit

...So my thought LilianGish would be that you lost touch with fiction, when you saw Celia. Far too much like reality!

DeepanKrispanEven · 31/12/2018 11:59

I'm not sure how they can not know who has bought the house and why it is being kept such a huge secret

It isn't a secret, is it? They know that they're called Gill. Brine and Jenny would have to know, not least because the name would be on the paperwork.

JessieMcJessie · 31/12/2018 12:00

OK Lilian that makes more sense Smile.

LillianGish · 31/12/2018 12:00

Brilliantly put Lottie - that is exactly what happened.

LillianGish · 31/12/2018 12:13

We know they are called Gill, but the SW seem to be making a huge deal about keeping their identity secret - hence the PA collecting the keys. That’s why I wondered if the Gills would turn out to be someone we already know (poss Hazel who has married a Gill? Or someone else from the dim and distant past) otherwise why the secrecy. I suppose it could just go the way of Arkwright Hall and only ever be mentioned in passing, but this seems unlikely as it is only the house that has been sold and the business continues to exist around it. I’m expecting a To The Manor Born type scenario.

Bittermints · 31/12/2018 12:24

I'm willing to start the next thread. Title suggestions welcome!

Angus Imrie (Josh) was in my son's school year so I had to work hard at not gawping at his mother and father (Benjamin Whitrow) as we queued up at Parents' Evening. At one concert I absent-mindedly said hello to Jack Dee whose twins were in a lower year group. Not surprisingly, as we'd never met before, he didn't respond. Blush

Putthetulipsthere · 31/12/2018 12:43

Long term lurker here who hasn’t posted for a while.

Do any others share my suspicion that the mystery buyer, Gill, is in fact Matt? It feels that’s where the SWs are going especially given the emphasis on Chris losing her money as a result of his scam and thus Peggy footing her care home bill. I think this story has been building for a long time. Can’t wait to hear Lilian’s reaction when she discovers her mother’s money is draining away on Chris’s care home bills.

birdsdestiny · 31/12/2018 12:54

Please not Matt.

Putthetulipsthere · 31/12/2018 13:02

I hope not too, but am convinced it’s going that way. It would tie up too many threads. 😱😱

ppeatfruit · 31/12/2018 13:29

Hello I'm back! I liked the "Mr. Jones" pee taking of Russ at Brookfield Christmas dinner; there was an odd lack of other diners ,they can't all have been washing up Grin

LillianGish · 31/12/2018 13:45

Moving on up (Ed and Emmur), Moving on out (Brian and Jenny), Time to break free (Lily from Russ with a bit of luck), Nothing can stop The Archers in 2019 for the next thread title (with a nod to M People - which presumably stands for Mumsnetters Grin)

QuaterMiss · 31/12/2018 13:57
Xmas Grin
lottiegarbanzo · 31/12/2018 14:01

Oooh that's a good title.

I loved the 'Mr Jones' bit too and Uncle Rex as a looming presence!

YankeeCandlePong · 31/12/2018 14:05

Didn't Jenny grow up living above a pub?

Her high and mighty attitude gets on my nerves. I know too many of her type in RL.

birdsdestiny · 31/12/2018 14:06

movin' on up, movin' on up... it was very quiet for a table of 13. Maybe they were gobsmacked.

MikeUniformMike · 31/12/2018 14:11

I have relatives in Natashasparentsland, maybe I should ask them if they know her.

MikeUniformMike · 31/12/2018 14:16

Where is Natasha's fruit orchard?

Minimammoth · 31/12/2018 14:31

I remember Hazel being a Slitheen.

Cromercrab · 31/12/2018 15:43

I live in a four-bedroomed semi with a London-sized garden. My kitchen would probably fit in one of Jenny's island units. But I'd be gutted to have to move to something smaller, especially if it was as a result of my husband's rotten management. I'm not surprised if Jenny's peed off. Especially at having to sleep on someone else's mattress! Can't believe they aren't at least moving their own bed in. But I'll listen tonight and see if it's actually happened. I do think the major shift in Aldridge land is the plot shake-up needed, as a PP said, so hope it goes through.

MikeUniformMike · 31/12/2018 15:46

I see Brine & Jenny at the Lodge.

Bittermints · 31/12/2018 17:22

Great title. I can see Jennifer and Brian at the Lodge but I can't see Peggy in sheltered housing or The Laurels. I want her to carry on for a bit longer. She's a very tough old bird.

DadDadDad · 31/12/2018 18:04

@NotdeadyetBOING - the idea is that you nominate the next thread-starter. It looks like Bittermints is willing, so you can just anoint her in the role.

NotdeadyetBOING · 31/12/2018 18:11

That's what I thought, Triple D. Many thanks. Am delighted to hand the baton over to Bittermints and very much hope she will bludgeon Tom and Natasha to death with it

Happy New Year to all you lovely thread-siblings.

Please not Matt.

^This. The angsting would be very tedious indeed.

I also can't see Peggy moving into sheltered housing when she doesn't entirely need to.

The Gills could be new or possibly someone from BL board bringing a new family in, although new families don't often last for too long.

I was never clear with Kate sodding off to SA if she was really coming back to run Woo City.
