Archers

No, that's not a jokey exaggeration, this is really the 93rd thread in a series started by PseudoBadger five years ago! In fact, post number Star 90,000 Star in the "official" count will be made on this thread.

Archers

Lovers of The Archers welcome (along with the rest of us who have a more complicated relationship with the "TA" Smile).

One rule we try to stick to: No mentioning of future episode plotlines published in the Radio Times etc. However, once an episode has aired, say what you like!

Archers

What is going to happen to Freddie? And are we ever going to hear from Lily again?
I also am wondering what it will take for Kenton to apologise to Fallon...

Unless they put a charge on LL

That would have to go to the trustees surely? Elizabeth doesn't own LL.

NWNF - Is this meant to be showing a desperate Elizabeth or just the LSWs talking rubbish? Plus Freddie would need to consent and I'd be surprised if he did.

I'm surprised its taken this long to filter back to Brian and Jenny. I'd assumed the story had gone around the younger generation long since.

Volant · 12/10/2018 01:25

No solicitor is going to take on a criminal case on a no win no fee basis, not least because they have to pay the rent. NWNF can only work on the basis that if they win their fees can be recovered either from the other side or as a percentage of the damages won. Freddie obviously isn't claiming damages, and in circumstances where he has pleaded guilty there is absolutely no chance of anyone else being ordered to pay costs.

LillianGish · 12/10/2018 06:25

I especially liked the silent Ben and Ruaaaaridh being alive and well on social media. Me too. I also loved Alistair and Jim bonding (though obviously Jim would never allow that word) over Ottolenghi. And the crossword clue - Fellowship got around sleep inducer near monsters realm - 12 letters. TOG-ETHER-NESS. Just brilliant Keri Davies.

Fink · 12/10/2018 06:34

It would have been interesting to hear the scene between Kate and her parents. They drove straight round to Elizabeth to take it out on her, I wonder what they thought of Kate concealing it for so long. Apparently not a problem!

BertrandRussell · 12/10/2018 06:57

What's the recipe called?

QuaterMiss · 12/10/2018 07:01

Oh my! Was that the answer? I’m utterly brainless where crosswords are concerned - doomed never to know the solution.

LillianGish · 12/10/2018 07:17

I consulted a crossword-loving chum.

That makes me feel a lot better!

QuaterMiss · 12/10/2018 07:31

It would have been interesting to hear the scene between Kate and her parents ...

I’m more fascinated to hear that Kate is still living in the house. This, more than almost anything, tells me they’re not going anywhere. If the intention truly was to have Brian and Jenny move out the atmosphere between them and Kate would poisonous right now. The SWs would have to show that. They’re not. So - they’re not.

witchmountain · 12/10/2018 07:40

It’s this one, Bert.

It struck me how like Kate that Elizabeth sounded - self righteous and irrational!

Witch that recipe post must put you in competition with DDD (for his transcript) for most dedicated poster of the week. I love the fact that everyone is so invested at the moment - and interesting that what we are most invested in are the character led sub-plots rather than central drama which almost feels a bit flimsy by comparison (how is Kate still at home? why would a NWNF lawyer be interested in Freddie’s case? etc).

BertrandRussell · 12/10/2018 09:11

Thank you so much, witch-that was above and beyond! I'm going to make it tonight- I'll report back.

LillianGish · 12/10/2018 09:15

If you do that Bert, that would probably edge you into first place for over-infestation Grin

Huh, I hardly think taking a photo of a page in a book and posting it compares to the huge effort of carefully transcribing dialogue. Angry

I think NWNF was pure desperation!

Elizabeth needs some therapy. She is keeping so much in.

R4 · 12/10/2018 11:13

At least it's not a Shula-like martyrish sulk D^3.Grin

Elizabeth needed therapy long ago. This reaction is similar to her lashing out in fury after Nigel died.

MrsArthurShappey · 12/10/2018 11:35

If not therapy, Elizabeth needs to at least go up Lakey Hill and let forth a primal scream!

witchmountain · 12/10/2018 11:57

Oh, you’re welcome! As DDD has pointed out, not sounding at all like Shula, it wasn’t a huge amount of effort Grin

DDD I can lend you the book if you want and then you can hand carve figures of Alistair and Jim and reenact them cooking the recipe, sort of like a nativity scene, with a loop of the recording playing over the top.

witchmountain · 12/10/2018 12:00

PS Bert, what time should we all come round?

witchmountain · 12/10/2018 12:00

Do report back, I’ve not cooked that one so far.

DressesWithPockets · 12/10/2018 13:29

DDD Thanks for the transcript, I loved that scene. Joe's "Any road, he said no" particularly made me giggle.

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2018 13:40

Ottolenghi is not my fave chef: there are always far too many ingredients in his recipes with tons of effing peppers and chillis!

I hate the cryptic crosswords, Quater don't mind the easy Radio Times one though!

DadDadDad · 12/10/2018 14:08

Thanks, Dresses - yes there are two lines that make me chuckle every time I read them, and that's one of them - it's even better when you hear it, something about the deadening way the actor says the way "no". The other line is the "got it in one. I said he was quick" one. Grin

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2018 14:21

Yes Lilian Good to hear Jim feeling guilty about sending Al to boarding school too, it bought a tear to my eye.

Good acting from David trying hard to be supportive to Lizzie's daft scheme.

MereDintofPandiculation · 12/10/2018 14:42

I hate the cryptic crosswords but they're much easier! They have both a definition and a "recipe" for the answer, so you're quite sure that you've got the right answer. A "quick" crossword with a clue like "Fruit (5)" and you don't know whether it's "lemon" or "melon".

Although sometimes the definition and the "recipe" get merged as in that lovely "Drop the Dead Donkey" one: "gegs (9,4)".
