Really looking forward to the wheels coming off for her and Freddie. Elizabeth deserves much better than either of them.

I suddenly remembered that they did this whole plotline years ago with Debbie. She eventually ended up marrying (?) her lecturer, SImon Gerrrard.

He cheated on her with his new students, and persuaded Kate to abandon Phoebe and move to South Africa.

Russ seems to talk habitually in teacher-speech, and mostly the speech of someone who knows the theory rather than the practice at that. Hence all that stuff about Lily being a high achiever, and the statement that Lara "struggled to remain calm" rather than "she told me I was a total arsehole who can't keep his hands off teenagers". If Lily stays with him, she potentially has a lifetime ahead of "It's your own time you're wasting" and "You don't seem to be meeting age-appropriate expectations". And God help any children, they will be "struggling" to stay asleep all night, and will be exhibiting behavioural and social problems every time they disagree with Daddy.

At the risk of repeating myself I'm thoroughly enjoying the updates on Alistair's post married life: he's had a night stand, now a half marathon and whatever Jim has in store for him. Meanwhile St Smugula the great yearner can barely get herself to a sauna

I think the divorce is now too bitter for regret, but I'd love her to see Alistair tanned and sweaty, covered in relative glory after the half marathon and, well, regret it.

Although it must be quite common as it happened to a school friend - it mucked up her studies and then he left her for someone else, only for him to turn up at her door a year later and she told him to bog-off for good.

I'm confused as to what the wider family know about Freddie's dealing, have we heard anything? The way Kenton was talking about it, and Helen previously, makes it sound as though they thought it was a one-off event which he was unlucky to get caught for. Do they know that he's been escalating it for months on campus, with the pickers etc.? i.e. It wasn't a case of a first time offence and bad luck son, but he's carried on and on until he finally was forced to stop, and the times we've heard him on air since he hasn't been at all contrite except that he's sorry he was caught. Are they still defending him knowing this (as Lily is) or are they in the dark?

I think Johnny and Lily are the only ones who know the truth about Freddie's dealing and I'm not sure Johnny knows all of it. Kenton will be eating humble pie before long. Remember how panicked he was when Toby started passing around a bottle of Scruff gin before he was a licenced producer?

Kate knows as well, doesn't she? She had a pop at Lizzie about what happened to Nolly. I must admit I am somewhat gobsmacked by how much the Archers are all downplaying Freddie's case, apart from Peggy. I'd be willing to lay bets on how sniffy they'd be if it was Jamie Perks (where he?) or in a few years, George Grundy in the same position.

All the arguing about Harrison, why didn't Fallon note the obvious; a police officer is always on duty. Don't know if Fallon knew the other officer identified class A drugs, so a cover-up wouild have involved others, not a teribly good idea.

I think Harrison warned him the first time; not an official caution. The club problem was because Freddie plainly had dealer's amounts of drugs. It would be interesting if Harrison's initial leniency comes back to bite him on the arse.

@deusex I think Freddie's sticking to the "one time in a club" line, against his mother's advice, but the police may have had chats with others proving that false. I don't think we heard either way aside from that he was going to crown court for sentencing.

Russ was so nervous and unsure for Friday Night Dinner- then moving in without a hint of apology to Lizzie. Another personality transplant.

I think that only Lily knows the extent of Freddie's dealing. Kate and Elizabeth know about Nolly (though tbf Freddie wasn't 'dealing' (as in selling) to Nolly). Elizabeth also knows - as do Johnny and of course Russ - that Freddie was dealing at college, but do any of them know how long it was going on for? And surely no one but Lily knows about Freddie selling stuff to the pickers (well, apart from the pickers who bought the stuff!).

So yes, if all of the details were to come out, I guess family members would be pretty horrified at the extent of it all, and there'd be a lot less of the 'How can Harrison/the law want to ruin poor little Freddie's life?'
