As Frilly stress Lizzy out, did the SWs forget her heart defect? Will there be long term llama drama karma in The Archers?

Oh! Was this recorded out of sync? Toddler Henry again.

One could tire of competitive Flower & Produce chat ...

LassWiADelicateAir · 20/09/2018 22:04

Yes it was toddler Henry being set up to become psycho toddler Henry.

TigerTeatimes · 21/09/2018 07:11

Quite revealing about Shula, actually!

Exactly this my hungry tiger twin, the woman's obsessed with sex but in such a repressed way. You know she's so jealous.

And LillianG it definitely did need spelling out, short of putting Freddy up, I hadn't realised she'd been particularly wonderful at all.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 21/09/2018 07:13

Thanks, other Tiger!

ADarkandStormyKnight · 21/09/2018 07:21

Freddie seemed to be the one cheering Shula up the other day when he persuaded her to go cubbing.

R4 · 21/09/2018 08:25

I did a double-take there.
I misread that as persuaded her to go clubbing.
Grin

QuaterMiss · 21/09/2018 08:33

I assumed ADarkandStormyKnight was being deliberately mischievous - as I too had a vision of an ecstasy-subdued Shula stumbling around in teeny leather shorts and a year’s worth of smudged eyeliner!

( Hmm I have no idea what goes on in clubs ...)

R4 · 21/09/2018 09:19

norty Knight.
I have visions of Shula taking one look at the sticky carpet then tutting and getting out the shake'n'vac. Not sure if she'd do the jaunty song and dance routine though.

(Do they still have carpets in clubs? It's a long time since I've been to one)

QuaterMiss · 21/09/2018 09:21

GrinGrin

ppeatfruit · 21/09/2018 09:39

Dark and Stormy They weren't going cubbing (clubbing wouldve been preferable Grin )) though were they? Shock They were wearing their 'ratcatcher coats' so I assumed it was a sort of practice type drag run with the new hounds that they mentioned.

The locals round here have been banging away for nearly 2 weeks now, they don't use horses.

ppeatfruit · 21/09/2018 09:40

Maybe they were 'ratting' Grin

ADarkandStormyKnight · 21/09/2018 09:46

Oh I just assumed it was cubbing but everything I know about hunting is from my childhood pony books and norman thelwell.

TeenTimesTwo · 21/09/2018 09:48

I caught a snippet on R4 (the station not you R4) after that 'cubbing' episode where they said something about people complaining she was breaking fox hunting rules. Though I thought I heard the presenter refer to her as Sheila not Shula? Did anyone else here it? I was thinking a presenter who doesn't listen to TA might not have recognised the name and assumed it was a typo?

Rapidash · 21/09/2018 09:59

'Cubbing' is a hangover from pre-ban days. It's usually called 'autumn hunting' now. Pre ban, the idea was to disperse the litters so that the fox population was more spread out, and also to help train the young entry (hounds). It's much more informal than winter hunting, so early mornings, hunt staff and followers dressed in ratcatcher (tweed jackets, coloured stocks, brown boots etc), horses not plaited etc etc... and usually followed by breakfast!

Spreadingcudweed · 21/09/2018 09:59

Were they autumn hunting? here.

Ratcatchers are worn for that.

Spreadingcudweed · 21/09/2018 10:00

Snap Rapidash!

ppeatfruit · 21/09/2018 10:01

That is really funny Teen I didn't hear that about the complaints. It's so surreal I can't even make a joke out of it! (i tried Grin ).

Rapidash · 21/09/2018 10:02

Nowadays I'd guess they use autumn hunting as a chance to get the young hounds used to picking up and following the trail scent

Peartree17 · 21/09/2018 10:03

I"m bewildered, I don't think I can have listened to the same broadcasts. Haven't picked up Alistair being marvellous and Shula being jealous and seething with repressed sex this week. In general, I agree, Shula is like one of those Trollope female characters that hang out with the clergy and channel their urges through good works and melting conversations about scripture.

Is today going to be the hearing at the school? I'm hoping for a big bang Friday after what, for me, has been a properly dreary Archers week.

Spreadingcudweed · 21/09/2018 10:05

Yes it's a training exercise for young hounds ; how to distinguish one particular scent from thousands, how to avoid getting kicked by a horse. And green horses learn how to behave around the hounds.

Spreadingcudweed · 21/09/2018 10:11

I am with the pp who has grown weary of flower and produce chat. And I find it rather out of character for Brian to go to such lengths to spy for Jenny, even with it (potentially) being the last time she prepares for the show in her spanking kitchen. I know he's retired but really?

TeenTimesTwo · 21/09/2018 10:18

I think Brian is just enjoying the subterfuge, it is livening up his days. Like he is playing a trick on the whole village.

ppeatfruit · 21/09/2018 10:26

Spreading I wish I lived in a village where the community gets together to show their flowers and produce, it's part of their lives isn't it? Shame that it's almost disappeared in urban areas.

The competition can be fierce Grin.

DadDadDad · 21/09/2018 10:27

We'll need a new thread soon. MrsGrindah had a good suggestion for a title a few days ago - anyone else?

QuaterMiss · 21/09/2018 11:32

So much baking for the Flower & Produce show, but who’s going to get their just desserts - Freddie, Ellis, or Russ? Come and pass judgement on the Archers thread.

Best I got ...
