Any suggestions? Smile

@Autumnchill I am really enjoying The Lady Vanishes and have downloaded The Dropout. I watched the HBO documentary a few weeks ago and was underwhelmed, so looking forward to this. Thanks for the recommendations.

Autumnchill · 23/05/2019 05:45

Just started The Shrink Next Door. Seems promising about a Shrink that takes over someone's life.

AllAboutMeAlways · 23/05/2019 21:39

Got a fab recommendation for you...

Case Notes from Classic FM. It’s just won best Crime Podcast in the recent awards....very deserved.

I didn’t think I’d like it that much because it has a classical music theme (which I know nothing about) but it’s wonderful.

First ep. is about Hayden’s missing head! It also covers the mysterious deaths of Mozart & Tchaikovsky & various other things.

Excellent.

LittleLebowski · 24/05/2019 18:37

Sounds very good - I like the classical music theme, Disgraceland -though not really true crime, but has a lot of crime in it - has the true stories of modern musicians/singers/rap artists and I like that. Also second The Shrink Next Door - very intriguing so far.

Autumnchill · 24/05/2019 19:55

Have you listened to all 3 so far? I find it amazing that someone can take over someone's life that much. My friend and I are listening in the car on the way to work, and we wonder if the shrink hypnotised him some way to accept that his suggestions where a good idea and Marty should agree with them.

LittleLebowski · 25/05/2019 10:48

I have! It's very engrossing, particularly as I think everyone is contributing? Ike too! I get it though. Marty admits to being a weak character who avoids conflict. His parents were gone and his sister tied up with her kids, he started to rely on Ike's advice more and more. Incremental brain-washing I guess!

Tinysarah1985 · 02/06/2019 13:43

They walk among us uk- brilliant true crime
UK true crime- again, brilliant.

MaiaRindell · 05/06/2019 14:02

@tinysarah1985 I have listened to all of They walk Among Us but I'm now struggling with it.

Autumnchill · 05/06/2019 20:41

I liked the recent one about the planning officer shooting but go to favourite is Casefile. My husband does a brilliant impression of him 😁

gabsdot45 · 10/06/2019 21:50

Michael Connelly, the Author has recently presented a great podcast called Murder Book
It's very good and as a fan of Michael Connelly's books I loved it.

tobee · 07/08/2019 00:18

Might be a crime. Might not be but The Lady Vanishes from Australia was gripping. Just binged the shows up to date, but should be updating at some point.

Autumnchill · 07/08/2019 18:50

I'm listening to The Lady Vanishes but feel it's going on a bit too long!

Autumnchill · 07/08/2019 18:51

Oh just discovered From the Files, it's the same guy who does Casefile but he's updating cases and speaks to experts

user1471504234 · 07/08/2019 23:24

Some great tips on here thanks all! But has nobody mentioned RedHanded? (or maybe I just missed it...)
Listen to RedHanded, it’s great!

findyourbacon · 10/08/2019 22:17

Totally agree @user1471504234

Redhanded is awesome!

Absoluteunit · 10/08/2019 23:43

I can't believe no one has mentioned Cold. So so good but a very sad story

ZootSuit · 16/08/2019 21:34

@Absoluteunit I’m currently listening to Cold which I saw recommended in a thread on Chat. I’m at episode 13, and finding it fascinating and infuriating at the same time.

Have you listened to any others that you would recommend?

DulciUke · 17/08/2019 04:45

Man in the Window (about the Golden State Killer) is good. So is The Drop Out.

LittleLebowski · 19/08/2019 17:26

Just listened to the first episode of Cold. Hearing Josh's audio diary is so creepy. His narcissism and controlling behaviour is repulsive and the fact he is so oblivious to this comes across loud and clear. It reminds me very much of Elliot Rodger's videos (the Incel mass shooter) where he goes on about how hard done by he is.
Two other Australian podcasts some of you might find interesting are 'Pendulum' and 'Nowhere Child'. The first is about the death of Margaret Kirstenfeldt in 1978. The title comes from the fact that the official line of investigation swung from murder to suicide several times, though I will be amazed to find out how on earth they managed to suspect she attacked herself with a knife. Nowhere Child is about the as yet unsolved disappearance of an Australian toddler in 2014 that brings in a lot of social problems to the investigation as the child was in foster care.

frostyfingers · 29/08/2019 12:16

The Clearing - I’ve just binge listened this and it’s unusual and very interesting.

tobee · 21/09/2019 21:54

Ooh ooh ooh! Just getting into Cold. Everyone raves about it. I was saving it up but worried I'd be disappointed! Not so far!

TakeManhattan · 04/10/2019 13:28

Betrayed is really interesting. It’a about a family who are on the run - but it’s not as t seems.

Autumnchill · 21/11/2019 19:14

Found a new one and loving but! Small Town Dick.

It's 2 ex detectives talking to the woman who does Lisa Simpsons voice about small town crime.

The corrupt cop 4 parter is excellent.

Autumnchill · 21/11/2019 19:15

It not but!

tobee · 02/12/2019 03:01

Two more:-

The Dropout
The Storyteller: Murder Most Foul
