'Ello pusscat!
I am eagerly anticipating Pip's downfall.

J and L treated her like shit.

I was all ready to jump to Jennifer's defence until I realised 'J' was Justin. oops!
Jennifer was very welcoming to Miranda who was, in return, very rude and snobbish. Miranda was also condescending about The Bull and the Stables, too. And Felpersham and Underwoods. In fact, did she ever say anything nice about anybody/anywhere?

Miranda, Justin and Lilian all deserve each other.

"In fact, did she ever say anything nice about anybody/anywhere?"
No she didn't. She was a passive victim of some of the crappest writing and characterization I have even heard.

TheAntiBoop · 28/04/2017 12:51

Do we know if they have kids? I'm guessing they will be the next characters to crawl out of the woodwork

As they've been married so long I think she should get half regardless of her input! However, Justin should have anticipated this and worked out what he wanted to keep and how he could give her half the value or a settlement of such.

Demara is supposed to be a PE firm isn't it? In which case I would imagine it is held through an llp of which Miranda may well be a partner and the level of income allocated to her will be dependent on how dodgy Justin is in terms of tax. If he has been paying her a chunky amount for tax purposes he will struggle to defend his argument that she did nothing without dropping himself on it.

Not forgetting Hazel.
Miranda is just rehashed Hazel. (try saying that out loudGrin )

Just a little alert to say I'm watching this thread very carefully as it looks like we will hit the 75,000th post over the weekend! To think, it was only just over a year ago that we hit 50,000.

CeciledeVolanges · 28/04/2017 13:20

All I could hear when Pip and Alice were talking was Pip sucking air through her teeth. It sounded like bad weather sound effects.

TheAntiBoop · 28/04/2017 14:04

There seems to be some confusion amongst the younger cast that acting in a show based around farms meant they needed to take acting tips from farm animals. Alice and pip were channeling sheep

TheAntiBoop · 28/04/2017 14:07

Yes. Nice to have a good old laugh about being sexually harassed by a client. And her manager was more cross that she told someone about it? Really? How depressing

ppeatfruit · 28/04/2017 14:10

Miranda\Hazel are just symbols. No emotional depth.

How many years has she done the entertaining etc etc for his business chums? And before that put up with him working all hours to build a business while probably on a tight budget

She may not have made business decisions but I bet she had an input in supporting him and providing him with contacts etc. We also don't know what she gave up to support his career and their family (if they have kids) a la macfarlane

TheAntiBoop · 28/04/2017 19:13

Pips pathetic isn't she? Well done Ruth on pulling her up on why she brought Toby up as it was clearly a plea for sympathy when it wasn't relevant. And we had a bingo with 'I can't deal with this'

And the bridge farm archers are getting greedy aren't they? Which doesn't seem very pat and Tony

Gruach · 28/04/2017 19:15

How, on God's earth, is Kenton making unilateral decisions about The Bull? Where's Jolene?

BertrandRussell · 28/04/2017 19:18

I thought Caroline still had an interest in the pub? And Lillian? And what position does Kenton hold?

TheAntiBoop · 28/04/2017 19:21

I assume he got the go ahead before making the initial offer so maybe didn't think it needed to be discussed again

R4 · 28/04/2017 19:22

Compare & contrast a-go-go. The next generation of Home Farm ownership neatly planned out v. the next generation of Brookfield in penury and turmoil.

David's a plonker. Noble and moral but still a plonker.

Gruach · 28/04/2017 19:26

Well, if I were Adam or Debbie I would now be incandescent with fury. So I'm not expecting the Home Farm division of spoils to be anywhere near harmonious.

TheAntiBoop · 28/04/2017 19:28

They should have made clear that whilst they are willing to compensate but they do not have that much ready cash and a payment plan would have to be arranged. Make clear they shouldn't be expecting a windfall.

I can't see pay and Tony being happy to bankrupt Brookfield - even if Tom would be gleeful. Hugh obviously wanted to return him to type!!

KingscoteStaff · 28/04/2017 19:28

'I say, Ruth, I don't suppose you could help out confused listeners and explain exactly what's happened to your mum's money and its current availability, could you?'

'Thank you so much, that's much clearer.'

BertrandRussell · 28/04/2017 19:36

Hang in a minute- Debbie and Adam get two shares? Is that fair when Adam's the one actually committed to the farm?

And what on earth possessed David to make commitments he can't honour?

R4 · 28/04/2017 19:41

There are 13 shares in Home Farm. Six to the parents, seven to the children. That could be interesting.

Mootsie · 28/04/2017 19:42

Do farmers not insure their cattle against disease?

EsmesBees · 28/04/2017 19:45

I was wondering about insurance too Mootsie. No clue about farming, but you'd think this is exactly the sort of random event you could insure yourself against.

TheAntiBoop · 28/04/2017 20:01

Bridge farm insurers would sue Brookfield to recoup their cost as they admitted liability

Brookfield insurance wouldn't pay out due to negligence

That's if you get insurance for these things

R4 · 28/04/2017 20:05

Oh, actually there are 13 shares in Home Farm: seven to the parents/trustees-for-the-minor and six to adult children.
Rurgrhghrghi is effectively the casting vote.
