So, R4, is it really raining in Borsetshire today?

It was, and quite heavily! I suppose they have to get it right sometimes.
DDD will give you the probability statistics.Grin

"I think she's headed for a massive breakdown."

Oh, I do hope not. I would love the SW to allow her to be self aware enough to know how she deals with stuff.......

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/02/2017 19:42

This is fiction and we will see what the SWs have decided in due course. But in real life plenty of people have a very hard time following all sorts of personal tragedies and setbacks, and it doesn't mean they aren't self-aware.

Vango · 21/02/2017 19:47

I think it's more likely that poor old Kirsty will discover that she's the object of several men's affections (Roy, Tom, Jazzer).

LowDudgeon · 21/02/2017 20:53

The bit about the 4am texts from Tom, both of them unable to sleep, rang true. That was nice.

Oh, of course. But Kirsty has made a decision about how she wants to deal with this- and I would really like her to be allowed to be right about herself.

DesolateWaist · 21/02/2017 21:59

I lost my only pregnancy, that followed 3 rounds of IVF, at 13 weeks.

I lost the baby on the Wednesday and was back in work on the Monday. I'm not saying this is normal or what I would expect from anyone else, bu tI am saying it can happen.

DesolateWaist · 21/02/2017 22:01

I do appreciate that there is a big difference between 13 weeks and 22.

ThatsNotMyToddler · 21/02/2017 22:33

Interesting Low. I can appreciate the actors but both of them are completely unlike my William and Violet Elizabeth. I love those books - can't wait until my boys are old enough to enjoy them. I have my Dad's dog-eared much loved copies.

Agree re: Kirsty. I fear there are dark times ahead. Anyone else a bit nauseated by Ruth's quiet, reflective voice the other day, when she was talking to Jenny about the miscarriage? I'm sure her response was realistic and it would make her feel but I can't bear Ruth in that mode.

ThatsNotMyToddler · 21/02/2017 22:35

And Flowers Desolate. Not sure it's any less devastating whatever stage you're at, if it's a wanted pregnancy. The practicalities can be different but not necessarily the emotional impact.

BertrandRussell · 21/02/2017 22:44

But just because she's being calm and contained and private doesn't mean she's not devastated.

Cromwell1536 · 21/02/2017 22:57

What mode do you like Ruth in, Toddler?! She's not very likeable in any mode I can think of at present. Not even as the hot-knickered would-be lover of Sam The Cow Man.

R4 · 21/02/2017 22:59

Going to three decimal places sounds so convincing.Hmm

Were Sam and Ruth going to DTD in a Travelodge? Maybe Sam arranged for a more glamourous venue for the tryst, but there's something about that pair that was just so...Travelodge.

BluePheasant · 22/02/2017 00:09

Kirsty isn't the type to wallow in sadness, she just wants to keep going and keep life normal. That doesn't mean her heart isn't breaking.
Tom texting at 4am was quite sweet, they are still going through this together. I do wonder that as that this overshadows the wedding failure it will lead to Kirsty eventually falling for Tom again if he doesn't act like a dick that is Kirsty said something along the lines of the wedding being nothing in comparison.

Roy is going to fall in love with Kirsty and be heartbroken when she and Tom decide to start again.

selsigfach · 22/02/2017 00:50

I hope that Ruth and Kirsty have a chat. I found the worst thing about mis carrying was the isolation - everyone else either had their babies or didn't want any, and I was all on my own. I know Ruth is a pain in the arse when it comes to many things but I think that would be worthwhile for them both. Kirsty won't have to pretend it's all ok with Ruth because she understands.

ThatsNotMyToddler · 22/02/2017 05:52

Cromwell I'm not a massive Ruth fan in any of her various modes, although I don't hate her as much as many people seem to. But her quiet, wheedling 'I'm trying to be sensitive here' voice is her most irritating to me.

I can see that her chatting to Kirsty might be helpful for the SWs but I hope they don't go down that route. Tom and Kirsty are actually doing quite a good job of helping one another imo - and maybe it's actually a bit easier for them not being together so they can support one another in their grief without it truly being a joint dream that they're mourning (?? Don't know if that makes any sense - early morning ramblings). And Kirsty has lots of other support. If Ruth turns up, who I'm not sure I remember ever talking to Kirsty in the past outside of maybe a panto rehearsal, I think it would not be credible.

picklemepopcorn · 22/02/2017 07:48

Low that was fab, thank you! Amazing what trivia my brain can hold on to...
Ghost, I agree about the girl in Brighton. Definitely a child down there! I called it after the emergency call when he dropped everything and ran.

TheAntiBoop · 22/02/2017 08:10

But Toby doesn't go down to Brighton very often so he's clearly a dead beat dad. The kid must be around 1 for the sl to make sense given the first mention of Brighton. And I can't believe Rex wouldn't have told pip

I hope the miscarriage wasn't a plot device to get Tom and Kirsty back together.

Blatant breach of data protection by Pat, divulging customer info to Lillian Grin

IAmNotAUserNumber · 22/02/2017 08:34

How many weeks was Ruth when she miscarried?
So long as Pip doesn't try to say anything comforting. After Helens release they spoke and Pip was "How jolly awful, anyway my cattle ..."
I find that Pip talking to another adult sounds like a precocious 10 year old talking to a grown-up.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 22/02/2017 08:38

On Twitter it looks like there Is a new Chris - according to a posting by Harrison's actor. Chris is Wilf Scolding.

Re: Kirsty
If you are on a zero hours contract you don't get sick pay. So lots of people have to go back to work before they are well.
Not saying this is true of Kirsty, but some on the thread seem to think you can choose when to return 😉

R4 · 22/02/2017 08:58

Ha! Since when did finances in Ambridge show any correlation to finances in RL. I still cannot get over Panettone paying Rob sick pay
