Happy New Year to you all.

I'm surprised the Jill actress hasn't commented that she's being written strangely

I'm afraid to say that these days Patricia Greene sounds like she's never read the script before! Her intonation is distinctly odd. And pigeon-like.

TheAntiBoop · 12/01/2017 12:35

True

I think losing your mother is a bit worse than hurting your ankle, though!

Jill wheedled and whined about the never-gonna-happen move in a frankly bizarre way - how many mothers end up in the village they brought their children up in with all four still there + grandchildren? If Ruth and David decided they were moving, that was up to them and she should have found it in her to understand and put on a positive front. Grown up children can and do move away!

I really don't think Ruth was annoyed Jill hadn't died. I suspect that the best of us would get fed up though with all that STOP BRINGING ME TEA I DON'T WANT TO BE A BURDEN .... oh thank you David, a biscuit would be lovely.... And then just needlessly going on about Toby, who really, for once, hadn't done anything wrong!

Pip is an unredeemable twat and always has been - Ruth is infuriating, but I find her frustration more understandable. And Jill - well, what exactly is the problem? She doesn't like the guy, fine. Who does? But why is she so bloody obsessed about him?

TheAntiBoop · 12/01/2017 13:32

Because the sw are trying to make his undoubted downfall as dramatic as possible?

I can't even begin to take the Brookfield sl seriously so am ignoring them in the same way I ignored the road.

LillianGish · 12/01/2017 13:50

Her intonation is distinctly odd. And pigeon-like. Or kazoo and swanny whistle (in conversation with Ruth).

TheAntiBoop · 12/01/2017 14:05

No Jill is the swanny whistle and pip is the kazoo! I guess we've not heard them together much lately

Maybe daisy badger is trying to show an obvious genetic link to Jill by mimicking the odd delivery

Are love balls the same as love eggs? It was on these threads that I read that comment, not ML. I shared with DH over dinner and then had to explain what love eggs are. Grin The sons were fascinated even the ones who are not keen on TA. I find the Brookfielders beyond tedious.

Something I've been wondering about. Isn't the case that a learner driver should not be driving with a 2nd passenger in the car? It was the case years ago and it makes sense so the Frilies carping during driving practice should not be possible - unless they are breaking the law.

I'm sorry about your DM Francis.

Re compassion - a more appropriate person to be thinking hard about what Jill may be thinking and feeling would of course be David, or any of her other children.

Shula doesn't seem to have much to say; Kenton commiserated with Elizabeth over the 'eggy' Hmm Christmas - both seem to feel Jill is being quite unreasonable. And David, although he doesn't snap at her, commiserates with Ruth when Jill isn't there, and I would imagine his trip to thank Tobes would seem to Jill like a significant betrayal.

Yet Ruth seems to be the only one expected to make endless allowances!

PuppetInParadize · 12/01/2017 14:21

I've just noticed we still have a couple of Xmas cards on the mantle piece. Maybe Jill could drop by and do the housework ..... Blush Maybe Shula would make me some Chelsea buns. it's been years.

Jill wheedled and whined about the never-gonna-happen move in a frankly bizarre way

No time for a long post but wanted to quickly say that's not how I remember it! Jill kept out of it and didn't complain about being turfed out of her home. It was the conversation with the 'dead' Phil that made up David's mind!

Megatherium · 12/01/2017 15:56

I don't recall Jill whining about the proposed move unduly. In the initial stages when she said she would go with them, she was very determinedly putting a brave face on it and emphasising the positives. Then when she decided she would stay, I don't recall her making a major fuss about the Dopeys leaving - she was more or less saying it was their decision, she understood why they planned to sell; I don't think she was pushing David to change his mind, was she? And then when they shoved her out of her home to make room for Heatherpet, she took that very well.

Yes, it's unusual for someone to live so close to all their family, but when a big move is planned which means the ones you live with are going to be hundreds of miles away and you will lose what you regard as your home, I think any parent is entitled to be a bit unhappy about it.

Vango · 12/01/2017 16:02

Here's a post from 2015 (I was doubting my memory 😁)

I'm shouting at daveed for his absolute unconcern and insensitivity for and to for his mum, whose home it was and where he was born and brought up. bastard.

I need to wean myself off these threads.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 12/01/2017 16:10

As any daughter is entitled to be a bit unhappy when her mother is dying hundreds of miles away from her, too!

TheAntiBoop · 12/01/2017 19:07

She speaks! But sounds like she's stepped straight out of drama school. Hopefully she will be better than pip

TheAntiBoop · 12/01/2017 19:11

She's reminding me of Kate

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 12/01/2017 19:11

Dear god she's awful!
