Happy New Year to you all.

OP posts:
redshoeblueshoe · 11/01/2017 21:09

I thought Pip sold all her cows, so what is she going to do? I think I might be warming to Toby Blush Pip is one cheeky bitch.

Imbroglio · 11/01/2017 21:11

So Adam says the mob grazing is on again, but Pip has given all her investment money to Toby. #Awkward.

Gherkinsmummy · 11/01/2017 21:15

What happened to the sinkhole? Perhaps it could swallow Brookfield up, like the hellmouth

Vango · 11/01/2017 21:16

Yes, indeed. Looking forward to hearing her explain to David and Ruth precisely why she's not taking up Adam's offer to continue with the grazing contract.

TheAntiBoop · 11/01/2017 21:23

Typical pip though

  1. she's offered to invest and then a week later will want the money back.
  2. she's just assumed it will all be there for when she wants it

Think she's going to have a shock when she sees a grand has gone

MrsArthurShappey · 11/01/2017 21:31

Oh she is AWFUL! They're all a shower'o'shites at Brookfield, frankly. My favourite is easily Ben.

mummytime · 11/01/2017 21:35

When I listened again this morning I realised what really irritates me with the Tom actor is that his inflection goes up at the end of every single sentence. It makes it sound like everything is very important and groundbreaking.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 11/01/2017 21:40

Ffs. Almost an entire episode devoted to Tube , Roooth and Pipsqueak.

And double ffs- it's not setting the bar very high that Tube would help an elderly lady in those circumstances by doing something which involved no inconvenience to Tube himself.

Actually a very small boop for Tube for a small moment of self-awareness.

Vango · 11/01/2017 22:54

Right Lass......so Toby happened to arrive moments before Jill slipped off her stool, and because he didn't flee the scene he's being hailed a hero? Could that episode have been more ridiculous?

TheAntiBoop · 11/01/2017 23:19

Toby was the most sensible one in that episode.

Can't believe I've typed those words in that order

redshoeblueshoe · 11/01/2017 23:45

Exactly Anti, maybe they are just trying to piss us all off, so we won't notice Helen and Rob getting back together

Gherkinsmummy · 12/01/2017 07:41

Hoping that Rob will do something heinous and be arrested (or fall into the sinkhole). I don't think I could bear him getting back with Helen, though I know it's true to life

Gruach · 12/01/2017 08:11

"My favourite is easily Ben."

Grin Grin

TheAntiBoop · 12/01/2017 08:40

wouldnt it have made more sense for her to have done a few leaves and returns before stab night?

After stab night just seems so unlikely

Megatherium · 12/01/2017 08:57

I wanted to slap Pip again when she sanctimoniously said that Jill ought to be over her shock by now, and that it's "just not good enough". FFS, her grandmother is 86 and has just had a fall. Who wouldn't cut her some slack in those circumstances?

Megatherium · 12/01/2017 08:59

Are we going to have a willy-waving competition now between Kenton and David as to which of them gets their respective twin through the driving test first? I'm backing Freddy, it's time he did better than Lily at something.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/01/2017 09:18

Perhaps Lily could wipe out everyone at Brookfield, including Toby, with her reckless driving?

Jill fell over - Ruth lost her mum! And she lost her in a service station car park thanks to Jill's meddling and David's spinelessness and the general Archer tendency not to give a shit about non-Archers!

I mean, I find Ruth infuriating, and the NZ thing was ludicrous. But Jill, having got her own way, has now alienated Pip from her family (not, of course, that Pip is objectively any loss, but obviously Ruth wouldn't see it like that), and has no grounds to dislike him any more than Ruth and David do, really.

In a nutshell: Ruth's a dick, but in her shoes I would have had just about enough of Jill by now, too.

TheAntiBoop · 12/01/2017 10:41

Why is it jills fault that heather died in service station car park?

It's totally socs fault for coming up with the stupid move north!!

trevortrevorslattery · 12/01/2017 10:44

ImNotAUserNumber are you secretly an octopus? All those hands Smile

Your post reminds me of Milton Jones.. "my other grandfather..."

I have stopped listening again as CBA but keeping up on here so thanks all!

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 12/01/2017 10:58

Well yes, it is SOCs fault, but then it's the SW's fault what any of them do ever, isn't it?

But if we're thinking of them as 'real characters' and deciding who's a dick and who isn't, Jill and her bloody toy farm and all that, emotionally blackmailing the piss-weak David, did put paid to an idea that David and Ruth had agreed to and placed her mother in very definite third place below Brookfield and Jill.

And we can agree it was a silly or improbably idea anyway but the fact remains that David said they could move and then said they couldn't, and that was shit for Ruth.

Who remains, however, a dick whose daughter is a dick, but still.

TheAntiBoop · 12/01/2017 11:17

David was wholly responsible for the move getting cancelled as he clearly wasn't fully onboard from the start.

I don't think Jill emotionally blackmailed him at all. He didn't want to go and spoke with people with different opinions. We all know jills opinion.

You could also argue that Ruth was emotionally blackmailing him into moving. Or you could just argue that he's an adult and responsible for his own choices.

Ultimately, we had a lot of acting out of character to try and fit in with a crap plot. I would have hoped we would be getting back to normal by now but I'm surprised the Jill actress hasn't commented that she's being written strangely

Helen is back to herself. Pat is getting there. Even Tom is showing his pre soc side!

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 12/01/2017 11:31

Ultimately, we had a lot of acting out of character to try and fit in with a crap plot

Agreed!

I don't think IRL I would have judged Ruth as emotionally blackmailing though - their farm was apparently going to be sliced in two, and her mother was becoming increasingly frail: it didn't seem like the craziest idea. And David was actually the more pessimistic of the two of them about whether they could carry of after Route B, as I recall.

But better that Heather should die alone in Pruddah than that Jill should suffer the too-thick carpets of Grey Gables!

Cromwell1536 · 12/01/2017 11:49

Do I hear the sound of Toby being stifled by Archer 'kindness'? What grown man wants home-made Chelsea buns and pot plants? What sensible grown woman gives these things?

And yes, am intrigued as how Pip is going to magic up the money to buy more cows to graze the leys. What the fuck is going on in Brighton???

If Helen goes back to Knob, can someone just shoot her?
