Yes - that seems to have been dropped

IAmNotAUserNumber · 08/01/2017 10:51

I agree Dragon but Tom's expectation was the same as Rob's - that "his" woman will do as he determines, because he must be right and knows what's best for both of them.

TheAntiBoop · 08/01/2017 10:57

Tom was always like that which is why Brenda left I think. Both she and Kirsty would just tell him to bog off and he wouldn't push it (as rob would). I guess that's the difference between Tom and rob - rob wants, needs and believes he should be in control. Tom is ultimately egocentric and just gets it wrong. Very tiresome to live with but I don't think abusive.

Vango · 08/01/2017 10:58

Actually, I'm listening now and I take back my earlier comment about 'bad' writing. When Tom suggested moving in together (only) Kirsty's response was "It would be different if we were a couple". She also said "I'm really impressed that you're taking it all so seriously". To which Tom replied "OK then, we'll talk again".

I suspect Tom naively thought he was suggesting the right thing when he proposed marriage.

Fwiw I don't think he's controlling or abusive.

Vango · 08/01/2017 11:05

Ha!

K: "Is there really much else to say?"

T: "Yes, it's because of the stuff you said the other day"

Tom got the wrong end of the stick.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/01/2017 11:09

Gruach Sharon was Sharon Richards, teenage single mother to Kylie, whose father was Clive Horrobin. Pat gave her a job and let her live in a caravan on BF (I think). She then enthralled John, who was several years younger than her.

Gruach · 08/01/2017 11:19

Ah, thanks. I knew their was a Horrobin connection!

But - with Clive Horrobin being father to Johhny's half sister, and Tracy therefore Kylie's aunt - Tom's introduction of Johnny to Tracy seems a bit odd.

Doncha love TA? I've listened all week then just listened to the film. So many little hints and nuances that you miss first time round. It really does reward dedicated listening (now that we are back to proper TA).

It's a full time job R4! 😁

FlaviaAlbia · 08/01/2017 12:00

NC, I'm still in the Kirsty and Roy fanclub though tbh I reckon the hints that way are too heavy to be anything but misdirection.

Tom annoys me. How arrogant to assume Kirsty will just fall in with his plans after how he treated her?

Gumpendorf · 08/01/2017 13:30

Vango and R4, you have made me feel better. When I catch the afternoon edition, I always hear nuances I missed the night before. I thought I was overthinking it all. Wink

choccyp1g · 08/01/2017 14:23

It did sound as though the SL had forgotten that Tracey is Johnny's (step?) aunt.
Johnny was saying she'd be quite hot if she wasn't so old, but in real life surely he'd be eeeugghh! she's Kylie's auntie!!

Then again maybe he's forgotten as well; he may only have met her for the first time a few years ago. And avoided her ever since, like most of Ambridge avoid the Horrobins.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 08/01/2017 14:43

I'm still not clear on the Horrobin connection. What are the relationships between Soosan, Clive and Tracy?

LowDudgeon · 08/01/2017 15:05

They are siblings Smile

There's also a Keith (another bad 'un) & I think one other?

Father Bert is still alive & living with Tracy in Ambridge. Mother was Ivy (?) & she died a few years ago

LowDudgeon · 08/01/2017 15:08

TWO more - Gary & Stewart. Can't remember ever hearing about Stewart

Keith nearly killed Emma & family in an arson attack at Brookfield. They're a lovely lot Hmm apart from Susan

R4 · 08/01/2017 15:52

They're a lovely lot Hmm apart from Susan.

See, that's why I have a soft spot for Susan. When you see her roots (and where the rest of the family still are) and then see where she is now, I can forgive a bit of Hyacinth-Bucket-ing although she is really dreadful sometimes eg this week, discussing father figures for Tracey's DC in front of Helen.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 08/01/2017 16:23

So Susan is related to the Bridge Farm lot as aunt to Jonny's half-sister, as well as being MIL to an Aldridge? It's all very incestous.

cheminotte · 08/01/2017 17:35

I think small communities are like that, even now.

TheMortificadosDragon · 08/01/2017 17:41

I don't think that's a relationship Susan ever mentions, unlike her alliance with Home Farm. 'one of my dangerous criminal brothers knocked up the same girl as your dead son' isn't a relationship she'd want to broadcast (though doubtless she would if it was someone else's)

LowDudgeon · 08/01/2017 18:09

It's a good point though - surely Johnny knows about Kylie's dad? Sharon & Kylie kept in touch with the Horrobins, didn't they? I'm sure there was an SL about it before Johnny appeared.

choccyp1g · 08/01/2017 18:11

Sharon and Kylie came to Ivy Horrobin's funeral; that was when we first heard about Sharon's younger Son "Ritch", who was gradually revealed as John's son.

LowDudgeon · 08/01/2017 18:17

I've just been reading up on that on blessed Lowfield Smile

(It's Nov 2011 if anyone else feels the need)

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/01/2017 18:42

Well, as we have all suspected, Keri Davies has just confirmed on Twitter that he had forgotten about the relationship. What a false economy it was not to replace the archivist.
