Happy New Year to you all.

OP posts:

Bridge Farm siblings. Me, me, me.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/01/2017 19:17

All the emotional intelligence of a lump of dung. Good for Kirsty, let's hope she doesn't weaken.

I see the new Editor is now in post.

enochroot · 06/01/2017 19:23

Oh dear. Good for Kirsty but does this mean Tom will eventually sympathise with Rob over contact with child?

GypsyFl0ss · 06/01/2017 19:32

I did think that Susan declaiming on the virtues of Roy was another signpost to a potential romance between him and Kirsty.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/01/2017 19:45

Mystic Bore's crystal is never wrong. Well, hardly ever. Well, sometimes it's right.

It has predicted for weeks now that Kirsty and Roy will fall in lurve.

Just to be sure, Mystic Bore has also cast the runes, examined the entrails of a Grundy turkey, and had a quick scry of her bathroom mirror.

They all say the same.

The fates have spoken.

Also, Roy is an Aquarius and Kirsty is a Taurus, which means... something or other Confused.

LillianGish · 06/01/2017 20:09

I'm reposting my earlier comment I think signs are pointing to Kirsty and Roy getting together - "You're a lovely man", she helped him spruce up his image for Internet dating, he's adamant he won't get together with anyone with kids, but sounded v excited about the baby ... also would set up an interesting conflict between Roy and Tom. After Susan setting out for her just what an excellent catch Roy would be I think that just about puts a lid on it. And it will give Tom a new perspective on Knob - having just come away from a conversation with his sister bemoaning the fact that she can't bear the thought of having Knob in her life for another 18 years, Kirsty tells him she feels pretty much the same about him. Fantastic parallel - in fact a great twist - I like it. And much more realistic than Kirsty getting back with the man who jilted her at the altar.

TheSecretMrsFairbrother · 06/01/2017 20:25

Oh dear God, Tom has the emotional intelligence of an organic sausage.

Actually that's probably unfair on the sausage.

EsmesBees · 06/01/2017 20:46

I suspect you are all right and poor Kirsty is going to be saddled with Roy. My hopes of bringing back Patrick once again look dashed.

LillianGish · 06/01/2017 21:03

In another great parallel Tom and Roy will both have lost the loves of their life due to their own stupidity, but will be unable to console one another if Roy's consolation prize is Kirsty.

Putthetulipsthere · 06/01/2017 21:04

Isn't the fact that Rob has agreed not to contest the divorce worrying? Surely it all points to the fact that he is trying to give the impression that he is changing - by calling Myson Jack and not contesting the divorce. Obviously his performance in the shop doesn't help, but he won't see it that way.

In other words, he's following Alan's advice, or rather using Alan's advice in a way that suits his mad reasoning.

Surely Bridge Farm are being lulled into a false sense of security by the news over the divorce. He feels he has nothing to lose and he's desperate. It looks as if he's going to attack Helen. 😱 Hope I'm wrong! - or he's thwarted in some way.

TheAntiBoop · 06/01/2017 21:10

Yay for Kirsty!! Her getting back with Tom is totally implausible and I'm sure soc intended it to happen. Because he's an idiot who doesn't seem to get that people have feelings

LillianGish · 06/01/2017 21:22

I'm concerned he's going to attack Alan - when he realises that in spite of following his advice (which he appears to be doing) everyone still hates him and he still only gets to see Jacks once a month.

Minimammoth · 06/01/2017 21:57

I only hope that he doesn't go for Helen and Kirsty throw herself between them with disastrous consequences. Apologies for Doom, I am normally cheery.

EdnatheHousemaid · 06/01/2017 22:55

Oh, just had a horrid thought.

Maybe Rob will attack Kirsty and she'll lose the baby. Or she'll get caught up in the violence, with the same result.

Her and Roy will still get together, as he'll be amazingly supportive and Tom will be all about him, and she'll wash her hands of the Bridge Farm lot for good.

Really hope that doesn't happen. Totally unappealing SL.

Kirsty is too good for Roy and Tom.
I know nothing of Patrick except from mention of him here but he sounds better.

KingscoteStaff · 06/01/2017 23:33

Was that Patrick playing the piano for the panto?

TheMortificadosDragon · 07/01/2017 00:07

Wow, not one but two scenes of crass insensitivity - first Susan, not so her delusion that Roy would want a serious relationship with Tracey, as for her going on about Brad needing a father figure in front of Helen, cue her rapid exit. Then Tom... could he really be such a prat to dive in like that after Kirsty had rejected the idea of her moving in with him even platonically?

I hope Bore is wrong and Kirsty and Roy remain good supportive friends, at least for about 5 or 10 years.

Agree that Rob dropping contesting the divorce is him interpreting Alan's advice to focus on Jack... maybe he will be sussing out the contact centre for alternative exits, or has decided to try to manipulate the staff in some way.

Abraiid2 · 07/01/2017 00:32

I can't believe Tom would be so insensitive.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 07/01/2017 05:29

I don't think there is the merest spark of attraction between them. It would be such an implausible plot.

LillianGish · 07/01/2017 06:29

I don't think there is the merest spark of attraction between them. It would be such an implausible plot. I think there has been a conscious effort by the SW to repackage Roy - with his makeover, his string of Internet dates and now Susan pointing out what a catch he is. Not sure long-term listeners can ever be truly convinced though - he will always be Roy of the Rotas to me.

GypsyFl0ss · 07/01/2017 08:14

he will always be Roy of the Rotas to me
Yep, in those nylon slacks.

Megatherium · 07/01/2017 08:18

I hate that thing they do in radio and TV drama of one character ploughing on talking whilst ignoring completely what the other one is saying or doing. Surely in RL as soon as Kirsty said "What?!" and looked disgusted/incredulous or whatever Tom would have read the signals and shut up? Or at least he would have done soon after?

BitOutOfPractice · 07/01/2017 08:23

That went well Tom. Like it would've gone any other way.

Imbroglio · 07/01/2017 09:25

Hopefully Pat will understand Kirsty's point of view and help Tom to come to terms with it. If nothing else I imagine she will want the baby to be very much part of their lives and won't want Tom to drive her away.
