Roll up roll up! It's nearly Apple Day in Ambridge. Grab a slice of Borset apple cake and see who's got the longest peel in The Archers.

I really don't think Niall would have gone to open the door to anyone and especially his daughter if he'd been sporting an erection...

WipsGlitter · 26/10/2016 19:55

ShockConfused I assumed they were just flushed and frisky looking!

LowDudgeon · 26/10/2016 20:05

I assumed he still had the green face

ArgyMargy · 26/10/2016 22:55

Oh yes of course I've heard of a hunt master, or more accurately Master of the Hunt (or perhaps Master of the Hounds?). Just not a joint master. And the ridiculous bit for me was that Shula thought the role was worth selling a veterinary practice to secure. Surely you just volunteer to do it for a term, however long that may be? Couple of seasons, maybe four or five - like president of the Round Table?

ErrolTheDragon · 26/10/2016 23:21

I enjoyed tuesdays epi so much at lunchtime I just listened to the podcast before tonights. The slightly hushed tone of the 'chilli?!' ...wtf is susan's secret ingredient?. Whereas tonight's was, well ok Roy/kirsty/jazzer but cant work up any interest in the fairbrethren scrapping. (Except to note Tobes had a Robbish sort of little unpleasant laugh noise at one point)

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 26/10/2016 23:56

Pip is so bloody naive if she swallows Toby's line about the break-up of the partnership being solely down to Rex being unreasonable. I do hope Josh will put her right.

glowfrog · 27/10/2016 00:12

Hurray for Rex punching Toby! I have been wanting to do that for months. I think very poorly of Pip for falling for such an idiot who thinks he's going to get rich without having to put in any hard work. Why is he even anywhere near a farm??

ErrolTheDragon · 27/10/2016 07:09

I expect Josh will try to put Pip right but that will just end up with them at loggerheads.

maggiso · 27/10/2016 12:43

The penny may be dropping for Pip after hearing Toby only wants to work in farming if others do the dirty/hard work.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/10/2016 12:50

Pretty disrespectful of Pip and her parents.

TaurielTest · 27/10/2016 12:58

Isn't there a line in Victoria Wood's Freda and Barry song that goes "smear an avocado on my lower portions"?

It was all very BOOPy, but I kind of liked it when "chili tonight" was a subtle hint we could speculate/snigger about on here. It's all out in the open now!

ErrolTheDragon · 27/10/2016 13:04

I wonder if S&N have ever been invited out and given chili.

Eastpoint · 27/10/2016 13:18

Or if they ever went to Mike & Vicki's for a Chili night...

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 27/10/2016 13:25

I think all the various Archers comment boards were on to the implications of chili some time ago, so I think it was effectively out in the open anyway.

Gruach · 27/10/2016 19:11

This is magnificent! Kate and Alice in the same episode. I've missed a couple this week so perhaps it's happened before - but the only other time I can remember was the wonderful three sisters ride a while ago.

Mootsie · 27/10/2016 19:23

Quite funny that the Home Farm lot insist on saying, 'Roooaaaaaarrrrri' when Ian, who is from Northern Ireland, swans in and says, 'I've just seen Rory!' Grin

I wondered who he was talking about for a minute.

selsigfach · 27/10/2016 19:30

But Ian isn't Catholic, is he? They'd have different names on either side of the fence.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/10/2016 19:35

The thing I liked about the chilli comment, apart from the pure comedy gold of the whole scenario, was that it seemed to be a nod to longer-standing listeners and an indication that Ambridge is getting back to normal.

PuppetInParadize · 27/10/2016 19:40

Maybe it's just me, but I was having trouble distinguishing between Alice, Kate and even Helen tonight. Confused I think too i wasn't paying attention properly as missed the fisticuffs last night. What I was doign today was filling out DS's PIP form - and it occurred to me Ms Archer of Brookfield is very aptly named, as she and the DWP are both PITA.

PuppetInParadize · 27/10/2016 19:43

Re- the chilli refs, I like to imagine Emma and Christopher as children sharing the joke secretly across the table - whenever their parents mention chilli the siblings kicking each other and sharing looks. Especially as the house they grew up in wasn't as spacious or as thick-walled as Ambridge View. Grin

Justonemorecupoftea · 28/10/2016 10:08

I've happily lurked for ages without a post but now have to yell from the rooftops that Kate said my name last night Brew I prefer builder's to hibiscus tea though Wink. Going back in my box now.

ppeatfruit · 28/10/2016 10:10

BOOP for Helen caring about the financial problems that BF are facing. And getting on with the DIVORCE !!!!!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/10/2016 11:56

Good she cared, but also good that she accepted the solution with relief.

And BOOP for convo with Ian in which she'd had enough of talking about her and wanted to think about his concerns!

ppeatfruit · 28/10/2016 12:11

Yes she's coming on nicely now !

KingscoteStaff · 28/10/2016 14:25

Has Lily also swapped from the Cathedral School to Borchester College? Is that why they are talking about her making loads of new friends compared with Freddie? How did I miss that?!
