Roll up roll up! It's nearly Apple Day in Ambridge. Grab a slice of Borset apple cake and see who's got the longest peel in The Archers.

I agree that Justin is unbelievable. If the SW had left him as original Justin - hard-headed businessman, remote from Ambridge, only concerned with making money and a fairly ruthless employer - I could accept it. Since his conversion to amiable country gent and his subsequent affair with Lillian which to honest felt a bit of a volte-face at the time it seems very unlikely to me that he would be so unaware of public opinion and it's not even as if Knob's speciality was arable. I'm guessing Lillian's phone call will be from Knob asking if Amside has any flats to let - there's no obvious vacant property in the village following his eviction, but Amside's holdings are like BHC's bedrooms and can expand to suit the needs of the plot. Judging by the way things have been going for Knob since the court case I'm guessing she will say yes - even though that would be even more unbelievable than Justin giving Knob the job.

I want Pip & Tobes to stay together, they are perfectly suited.
Selfish to the core. I think Pip is only starting to get a bit bored of him because he isn't worshipping her 24/7.
Not a single remark about him using his phone whilst driving. Shock
But I can't stand Rex either, still sulking because Pip wasn't interested in him. OK if your 15 but Rex isn't.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 07/11/2016 15:55

Lass - I thought he mentioned yeast and sugar, so not redistillation

I don't think he has much of a clue what he is doing because I'm sure he was talking about using already made gin which would be redistillation or compounding- surely even he isn't thick enough to set up a moonshine still to make alcohol from scratch? (Answer -yes he is)

Anyhoo there seems to be lots of opportunities to poison and/ or blow himself up, even if it is redistillation.

Might I come late to the party a getting increasingly frustrated at sl's going on now?

I mean the awful Rob/Helen sl being so carefully and seemingly deeply researched and so well delivered but now this pip and toby (likes he's made from Rob mould! Is this heading for explosion of Borheater abusers revealed?!?

It seems so unreal.
Like why would Rob get that job in first instance after everything ((well I guess it happens quite a lot that guya like rob are still believed and employed so praps its demonstrating that?

Someone further upsaid kids parts sounded odd and i've always thought they were done completely separately and spliced in afterwards.

Thanks! Needed that!

ErrolTheDragon · 07/11/2016 16:18

His first gagworthy attempt was certainly using bought gin, but maybe if his mate in Brighton had the kit for fermenting as well, he figured that would be more profitable (and 'artisanal'Hmm). You'd have to have a hefty mark-up to turn a profit if you were starting from spirits I'd have thought.

Well, as part of the remit of TA has always been education, something has to go badly wrong. Just hope it doesnt involve any innocent bystanders.

TheAntiBoop · 07/11/2016 16:44

Nobody tell Toby about flavouring vodka in the dishwasher

ErrolTheDragon · 07/11/2016 17:00

What?ConfusedShock

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/11/2016 17:01

Yes, first efforts were with bought gin, but now he's having a go at making his own "wash" from yeast, water and sugar, which he will then distill. Which is illegal in UK, according to Google.

Even if he doesn't kill or blind anyone, he will be in for a world of pain if/when HMRC catches up with him.

Possibly Brookfield will be too, as illegal still will be on their property

Shriek · 07/11/2016 17:25

Can somone tell me about flavouring vodka in the d/washer?? Shock

Shallishanti · 07/11/2016 17:35

wow, check out Lass's link to see how s...l...o...w...l...y and c..a...r...e...f...u...l...l...y you have to go about distilling!!

maggiso · 07/11/2016 17:46

If Pip has any sense (? has she?) she will check out the legality of distilling in her kitchen!!

www.mumsnet.com/christmas/dishwasher-vodka-homemade-liqueur-recipes

Think of all the mner relatives getting this for Xmas.

If it's on mn it's hardly the height of innovation. But like organic baby food

ErrolTheDragon · 07/11/2016 18:14

Oh, I see - using the dishwasher as a 70 C water bath. sounds a bit vile but doubtless better than Toby's efforts will be.

TheAntiBoop · 07/11/2016 18:23

It's funny how all of these homemade things are suddenly so popular. When I was a kid (not that long ago) my grandad would make eau de vie with the fruit that wasn't eaten or made into jam. Handmade presents were very common.

Eastpoint · 07/11/2016 19:08

One of my friends is involved with a livery company which sponsors Nuffield Scholarships, this is from their website The WCB has become a sponsor of the Nuffield Farming Scholarships and will be supporting a suitable candidate for 2016 who is currently active in the meat and livestock industries This would be really promising for Pip. (I have just previewed this post & it didn't work, hope it does in real life).

I shall be very disappointed if Lil (fresh from her chat with Helen) doesn't send him away with a flea in his ear. Question is then what each of them says to Justin and how that plays out.

TheAntiBoop · 07/11/2016 19:25

Has she said to Justin 'he raped and abused my niece'?

Shriek · 07/11/2016 19:27

The gall of him. Is there no end. Lilian surely can just say she doesnt like his refs! and slam phone down. Nothing in law to say thats discriminatory or anything?
Wow at the d/washer vodka varieties!

Quite keen to become an alchy

Shallishanti · 07/11/2016 19:31

just discussed this with DD- presumably she can just decline to rent to him and give no reason, provided she's not discriminating against him because of a protected characteristic, and being an abusive arsehole is not a protected characteristic.

BertrandRussell · 07/11/2016 19:40

If Lillian lets him rent that house that really will be the end for me.

CeciledeVolanges · 07/11/2016 19:45

Sorry, slightly random interjection here - I've just caught up and why oh why does Shula always talk as if she is absolutely hauling away on her poor horse's mouth? Anyone else get the same impression?

Girlwhowearsglasses · 07/11/2016 20:05

Surely Lillian would tell him to fuck off straight away (or whatever the radio alternative is)
