Roll up roll up! It's nearly Apple Day in Ambridge. Grab a slice of Borset apple cake and see who's got the longest peel in The Archers.

I really hope pip and Toby die in some industrial alcohol accident

EsmesBees · 06/11/2016 19:31

Wouldn't we all Imbrulgio

Vango · 06/11/2016 19:33

Maybe he'll give her alcohol poisoning and David will chase him off (I'm deliberately not saying 'Ruth' because she doesn't appear to loathe Toby as much as David). Pip will be enraged and stomp off to join him in Brighton.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/11/2016 20:39

Unless the Pip 'n' Tobe story is leading to a tragic alcohol related incident it is beyond pointless.

TheAntiBoop · 06/11/2016 20:57

Hmmm. I perhaps this is a long term sl. Tobes and pip marry and have kids but in about 10-15 years tobes dies of liver related illness. Widowed and bereaved pip falls into the arms of loving Rex. Etc etc.

Please no! Definitely need tobes to get killed off by a hit man from Brighton

He was very vague about who he got the kit from. Maybe he obtained it on the same way he got the herbs?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 06/11/2016 21:25

So long as something happens to Pip and Towbeeeee, I don't care what it might be. Pair of arseholes. And they can take fake-posh Alice and her over-enunciation with them too. Quite enjoying rotten Rob still needling everyone at every opportunity and hoping that it's building up to a massive fall for him when the scales fall from daft Justin's eyes.

Tomorrow, "Lillian receives an unwelcome phone call"....??

"Puss Cat"

Imbroglio · 06/11/2016 21:27

Someone is going to end up with alcohol poisoning. Question is who. Wayne?

ScrumpyBetty · 06/11/2016 21:44

Does anyone else think that Susan is doing a 'Rob Titchener' on poor old Neil- trying to control everything he eats! She wouldn't even let the poor man have a couple of digestive biscuits Biscuit It is making me giggle though. I wonder how long it will be before he puts his foot down?

EBearhug · 06/11/2016 23:03

Doesn't Miles have a wife? Debbie or Denise or something utterly different? Bruce mentioned her in terms of why Ursula had to go back home, because Miles and [wife] were too busy running the farm and so on. Lowfield will probably know.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/11/2016 23:09

Oh, Neil will be off the hook as soon as this photo has been done.

Thanks for the CA btw, Lowdudgeon.

BOOP for the little dig about the Joker mask being used for the guy - ie they were actually burning Rob in effigy. Wonder if he realised?

Toby distilling alcohol sounds like an extraordinarily bad idea. Is he so ignorant that he doesn't realise the risks, and so irresponsible he'd use Pip as a guinea pig?

PuppetInParadize · 06/11/2016 23:15

The couples in Ambridge are portrayed so 'traditionally'. Neil as a grown man could just prepare some food for himself. Then we had Pip getting complaints from Tobe about not making enough pasta. All that fiasco with Brine starving half to death while JD was getting 'her' new kitchen. Even Jolene and Kenton seem to have fallen into the stereotypes - recently over the wedding anniversary where he seems to have done all the planning. And he seems to have taken over the running of the pub - even though Jolene was doing it all years before Kenton came onto the scene. Ruth always getting asked what's for dinner - even though she worked as hard on the farm as David. Now of course they have their resident skivvy it's saved Ruth having to think about MN-style meal planning. Smile It's maybe different for the older couples - and couples where the he works more away from the house than the she (e.g. Alistair and Shula). But Soosan probably works as long hours as Neil, as do many of the younger women. And don't get me started on the Grundys. Though they could be regarded a 'older' perhaps.

Given he was going to use spindle... I wouldn't be surprised to find him confusing hemlock for chervil or something. He is totally clueless, which is one thing, but also not really interested in doing anything as dull as research, which is not excusable. I don't think he realises what a risk he may be taking, how a lot of wild plants can be very poisonous.

I think Pip is beginning to realise how flaky and inconsistent and entitled he is - he just expected her to accept him swanning off to Brighton with no notice, and to accept him setting up an illegal still in her home.

He's never once stopped to consider that anyone wouldn't go along with him. I don't think he's really accepted that he's out of the egg business, that Rex isn't going to forgive him.

At least there's a chance Pip might end up realising Jill has got a point - but we're a way to go yet before that point is reached.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/11/2016 23:31

Even apart from his nonexistent botanical knowledge for the additives, hasn't everyone heard of the risks of methanol poisoning from hooch?

JessieMcJessie · 06/11/2016 23:32

Miles' wife is called Belinda I think.

EBearhug · 06/11/2016 23:37

Ah, you might be right, now I see that name. Glad your memory is better than mine, Jessie!

Alleycat1 · 06/11/2016 23:49

Isn't it possible to go blind after drinking incorrectly distilled alcohol?!

TheAntiBoop · 06/11/2016 23:51

So maybe we will get a disability sl and Toby getting sent to prison for blinding...who?

BeaLola · 07/11/2016 00:16

Toby and Pip deserve each other. I am hoping they die together or at least Leave Ambridge a sap - perhaps they can run over Rob on the way out.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 07/11/2016 00:43

It is but what he is doing (assuming I picked it up correctly I did zone out) is redistillation. Some one else has made a safe and legal spirit which he is modifying. It would seem he needs a rectifier's or compounder's licence from HMRC.

Possibly the tragic alcohol related incident will be an explosion rather than a poisoning.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/11/2016 07:47

Lass, as of last night he is indeed setting up a still at Rickyard Cottage. Pip said 'Don't you need a licence for this?' and he said no, because he was just trying things out and not planning to sell anything at this point. I hope David and Ruth find out and give him his marching orders before HMRC arrive mobhanded to confiscate the lot.

SerendipityPhenomenon · 07/11/2016 08:08

I don't get why Justin was so eager to introduce his new estate manager to his mates. Isn't it likely to be a tad embarrassing when someone inevitably remembers that they last heard the name "Titchenor" when he was publicly accused of multiple rape and his wife was acquitted of attempted murder on the basis that she was protecting her 5 year old son from him?

ErrolTheDragon · 07/11/2016 08:50

Lass - I thought he mentioned yeast and sugar, so not redistillation.

Puremince · 07/11/2016 08:53

If I was Justin I would be embarrassed that my employee made that dig about being at the Shoot as a beater to Brian. I would worry that Rob was a bit clueless as to Brian's position as Chair of BL, and owner of the posh Home Farm. And I would feel awkward that one of my guests was being spoken to like that.

Did anyone overhear his conversation with Shula?

Alleycat1 · 07/11/2016 09:04

Errol, that's what I thought too. He is now making the gin himself - scary thought.

ColdTeaAgain · 07/11/2016 09:10

I took it that Rob was getting all his snide comments in to Brian and Shula out of Justin's earshot.

The way Justin is acting is ludicrous, I suppose the only explanation I can think of is that he decided on Rob before the trial and now is just being pigheaded about getting it so wrong. Really though, it's poor writing and just a plot device to make Rob feel powerful again. Even if we had the odd scene of Justin expressing some concerns it would at least seem a bit more believable!
