Sorry for the poor title - the end of the last thread has arrived sooner than I thought and I haven't had the benefit of hearing all of the last 2 nights....

Rob thinks of Henry as a bargaining chip...
Of no value to him but of value to the 'oppodition'.

OhTheRoses · 04/10/2016 22:46

Speak for yourself Francis. I am between Shula and David. I'm merely approaching middle aged and can't retire until I'm 67.

My grandparents were farmers. GM developed Alzheimers in her mid 70s but worked until about 78 entering a geriatric MH unit at 80. GF died at 90, farming until he was diagnosed with AML at 89.

Johnny is a Star.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/10/2016 23:16

Johnny, harrison and alan sound nothing like each other to me, J is clearly much younger, harrison lancs alan yorkshire and older. There's no such thing as 'generic northern'!HmmGrin

I don't get the "generic Northern" either. I got David and Kenton confused during the fracas at the Bull the other night, though.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/10/2016 23:44

I had to listen to the fracas twice but then I could tell K and D apart - not just the voices but that David was the one telling Rob to go with an air of authority.

JessieMcJessie · 04/10/2016 23:51

It's fair enough to confuse two brothers though isn't it Jasper? We'd be complaining if brothers sounded too different from one another!

The two that I think sound the same are Doc Locke and Alan the vicar.

Johnny , Harrison and Alan sound nothing alike. If nothing else they all sound the right age for their characters. Unlike Pip and Alice who sound 15.

cadnowyltt thanks for extract and it seems that family courts would advise Helen to do the opposite of what she did tonight.
Perhaps I've been CC'd by Rob; perhaps I'm easily swayed by good writing, but wouldn't it have shown compassion as well as the moral and ethical high ground to let Rob see his baby before going under the knife (again). Yes I haven't forgotten what a toe rag he is, but did she really make a wise choice for future relationships when he could use that one incident to turn Jack against his mother?

EBearhug · 05/10/2016 01:37

I did laugh at Rob and Ursula tonight - "Mother, I haven't discussed my bowels with you since I was three, and I'm not starting now!"
"No, and you were difficult about it then, as well!"

I know Helen may seem unreasonable not to be flexible for Rob - but the hospital appointment has not come out of the blue. They've had plenty more time where they could have requested a change, rather than a couple of hours before they want to turn up. I don't have much sympathy for anyone who expects to do things last minute when it didn't have to be, even if they are nicer than Rob and Ursula (i.e. Nearly everyone else in the world.) If Helen had planned to take Jack somewhere, she wouldn'the have been at all unreasonable to say no, in anyone's view, but with earlier notice, she could have replied, "can't do Tuesday, but we could manage Monday." She still might not have, bit tête would be more chance time wise.

EBearhug · 05/10/2016 01:38

bit tête should be but there.

The Plarchers have been doing some wonderful stuff lately - you don't need a Twatter account to see them (I haven't got one)

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/10/2016 08:35

Scroll down enough and you can see their Twelve Angry Men courtroom scenes too Grin

TheAntiBoop · 05/10/2016 08:35

Pip varies between sounding like a 14yo boy and a 40yo woman

Johnny is very distinct. Alan and doc Locke sound the same. Harrison's voice really irritates me for some reason but he is distinguishable

TheAntiBoop · 05/10/2016 08:39

Helen in playmobil form is exactly how I have always pictured her in my head!!

trevortrevorslatterfry · 05/10/2016 09:27

I reckon I can distinguish the ones who are more familiar to me IYSWIM - the Northerners are easy to tell apart (I am Northern).

I find it a lot more difficult with the middle-aged well-spoken women and the younger men (Fairbrethren/Tom/Charliewhenhewas there).

ppeatfruit · 05/10/2016 09:27

LOVED last night's episode. Good to hear Pat being strong on the phone to eeerusula and even better to hear Helen's strength!

I'm a bit concerned that with Tom and Johnny gone. A vengeful knob could 'attack' BF.

Fiderer · 05/10/2016 09:36

Curse you Bore. Have loads to do this morning and have spent half an hour looking at plastic figures representing fictitious characters on the radio Grin

Love Playmobil. We still have boxes and boxes though my youngest is now 14. Went to a Playmobil exhibition in a museum a few years ago. Was great. There was a machine where you could get your own figure made.

Fiderer · 05/10/2016 09:36

Back in the "real" world Grin what's the Nuffield scholarship thing?

drspouse · 05/10/2016 09:38

I live in the North and didn't have this problem before - I forgot Doc Locke but I think with his re-introduction he's possibly midway between Alan and Harrison, and Johnny seems to be more difficult to tell apart now - maybe his voice has matured.

I agree about the younger posh men too.

Gherkinsmummy · 05/10/2016 09:58

Thanks for the new thread Pseudo.

Does Helen know that Rob has already tried to see Henry? She should be keeping a log of all his attempts to ignore the court orders.
