Well...
A decent family lawyer would be applying for transcripts of the evidence of the key players in the criminal proceedings to be made available and stand as evidence in the family proceedings. It would also be unrealistic not to allow time for the CARCASS reporter, who makes recommendations about what is in the children's best interests, time to revisit things in the light of the outcome. In real life there would be a report written in advance of final hearing and the parties and their lawyers would know what recommendations were (although decision up to the judge after hearing the evidence).

How soon are transcripts available? I know that they are desperate to have Henry back but it would make sense to ask for a delay in the hearing so that this extra evidence can be incorporated. I would rather wait and win than rush and lose the case.

Helen's only had a few hours to renew her relationship with Henry but his CAFCASS interview was weeks ago so I hope the court does take this into account.

ChilliFurther thoughts on Justin/ Lilian posted up thread at 19.13 yesterday.

It would be gratifying if they had reacted more strongly to Rob's behaviour - I would hope they would be appalled and discuss how to sack Rob. But Justin would never do that:- I was prepared for him to dismiss the matter out of hand, citing how difficult it is to find good estate managers etc etc. I am disappointed in Lilian not being more vociferous though I guess she has to toe the line!

However I know SOC wouldn't be able to resist having Rob as Adam's boss and I suspect Huw Kinnear Jones will do the same.😱😱

It annoys me that Justin never properly looked into Rob's departure and that Charlie allowed himself to be effectively blackmailed into taking the flak. There's zero evidence that Rob was ever any good at his job at Berrow and Charlie underwent a total character transformation during his time there. So infuriating.

As well as being a nasty controlling character, I felt that part of Rob's motivation was inheriting the cottage from Peggy that she promised to Helen and also getting to control Bridge Farm with a view to ousting Tom and Johnny, once Pat and Tone handed over to Tom and Helen.

While brother Miles would inherit the Tichenor family farm, Rob would become master of property in Ambridge, after marrying Helen.

Dylan, when I used to listen to the Archers on the downstairs radio, my OH used to sing along to the theme tune (to annoy me)

"What a load of bloody crap, what a load of bullshit...

maybe Dennis Waterman could do this if he becomes Mr Pullen's twin brother.

Vango - It annoys me that Justin never properly looked into Rob's departure

YY - it is so infuriating, I was very worked up about it at the time! I don't understand how Justin never looked into the matter. It's just another example of how SOC sacrificed strong characterisation in favour of the story line that Rob gets away with abusive behaviour because people are taken in by his charming behaviour. But in RL Justin, who is meant to be an astute businessman, would surely have launched an investigation into Rob's departure from Barrow Farm. And therefore discovered about the fabricated milk yields and false accounting by Rob.

I hope Charlie returns from his fish farming. Hopefully he will read about the trial and Ian's evidence and decide he has nothing to lose. Just wish the SW s would read mumsnet ( clearly they don't!)

Looking forward to Joleen shouting, ' Git aat 'a moi pub.' Also, the ghastly Fairbrothers turning into gangster brothers with Pip as a moll. Jill Archer will stop making endless lemon drizzle cake and start running a fruit stall as a cover for her thriving cultivation and sale of dope business.

I'm sure that when a mother in custody refuses to consent to the child's father seeing the child, it would be open to the father to ask for a court order to overcome that. Given that Rob was in court about Henry anyway, it would have made sense to ask the judge to deal with Gack at the same time, but it simply doesn't seem to have occurred to Rob - or else it did occur to him and he decided not to do it.

Maybe Rob couldn't bear to do it because all the court papers would have had to name Jack as Jack, not Gideon, given that that's the name he's registered in. It would have really stuck in his gullet to acknowledge that Helen had any choice in the matter at all.

tomtherabbit · 14/09/2016 14:53

Ask Rob would think it beneath him to meet his son in prison.

It's all about ownership for him - hence he had to keep Henry and now wants custody of them both.

Prison access visits wouldn't have done at all.

His angst was not about Jack/Gideon but that 'Helen has won'

Ackee, that's a good point. Rob was v put out when Peggy altered her will again. IIRC he started to argue it was unfair on Helen and shut up when it was obvious Peggy was having none of it.

More recently, didn't he argue that Jonny should get a job somewhere else as the farm couldn't support all of them, and Helen needed to think about his sons' future.

Yes, and he tried to influence Johnny to take college courses in line with that (more managementy things) but were quite inappropriate to Johnny's practical talents. Fortunately Johnny took more heed of Tom.

The above is spot on, Putthetulips. Thanks.
After the last three episodes, I'm gradually returning to 10pm (I live in a different time zone, in case you were wondering!) being a sacrosanct time for me to listen to TA . I hope it stays this way, but who knows what the new Ed will bring. Archers

Oh when Rob said Jonny should get a job elsewhere - Helen said Rob could get a job (which was brave of her I thought! eek!) But didn't Rob say that would be silly as the farm obviously couldn't run without HIM being there?

Does it occur to anyone else that launching a brand of upmarket organic baby food may go badly wrong if someone reminds the press of Helen's knife weilding but even more, the e coli incident?

BtW, do the SWs not know that supermarkets have been awash with organic babyfood since last century?

It's been a long time since I've had any occasion to buy babyfood, but then as now I would be a lot more concerned about basic hygiene than whether it was organic or not. A farm that caused an e coli outbreak would have been struck off my list.

AND he packed Tom off to Canada (where anyone can get any job with no notice whatsoever). Probably spooked Otto the bull on the day Tony was attacked too. 😁
