Yes, I enjoyed the F&P chat.

Has Huw wotsit started yet, or do we have a caretaker editor for a few weeks?

I wanted Lill to put a bit more emphasis into the issue of Rob's job, along the lines of "Tell me you're not contemplating employing a multiple rapist"? I fear that Justin talking to Rob is going to lead to Rob persuading to let him keep the job.

SafariSoGood · 13/09/2016 20:23

Only caught the end today, will LA tomorrow.

Happy to hear Ian sounding like himself again.

chillipopcorn1 · 13/09/2016 20:25

Judy I agree. I thought it was absurd the amount of glossing over going on despite the horrific revelations about Rob's behaviour. It seemed to be all 'ah well wouldn't have expected that when he seemed like a decent chap' and Justin only saying he was going to phone Rob up. Why does Justin insist on ringing R when he hears about what an arsehole he is, only to hear R say 'I'm not an arsehole! Everyone is very much mistaken and I am actually fantastic' and Justin take that at face value?

ColdTeaAgain · 13/09/2016 20:35

Lovely episode tonight. Really hope Lill has more to say to Justin than that though! Have a horrible feeling Rob will still get to keep this job.

LillianGish · 13/09/2016 20:41

It appears that somewhat predictably Justin is taking the line that he still can't believe Knob is as bad as all that. Fair enough. But I think Lillian would have been much more vociferous in her protest - the man raped her niece. I think she would have been saying how could you even contemplate it - also what's the point of employing me to boost your popularity if you are going to undo all that work in one fell swoop? Hurray for Ian, Adam is as bleatingly self-obsessed as ever.

flightywoman · 13/09/2016 21:01

What struck me about tonight's ep was bloody Adam, minimising his infidelity and trying to blame it on Rob.

He badly misjudged Ian there I think, trying to play on Ian's anti-Rob feelings and deflect from the reality that he has been unfaithful to some degree, TWICE. I thought that rather than actually being genuinely sorry he was just trying to sound sorry enough to be forgiven.

Fucker.

Imbroglio · 13/09/2016 21:04

Yes I normally quite like Adam but he really minimised what he has done to Ian.

AuldAlliance · 13/09/2016 21:27

I'm posting this a bit late, but did anyone else notice Henwee saying that Hellin looked like a boy because she'd had her hair cut? Interesting insight into Rob's open-minded influence over him, I thought...or is that just what boys his age think?

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 13/09/2016 21:41

When and how did Ian find out about Adam's peccadilloes? I assume he knew about them before he appeared in court?

Mind you Ian shouldn't be surprised given Adam's family. His mother and stepfather has both been in and out of more beds than Alan Titchmarch during their marriage.

The new Editor has worked on Eastenders, Holby City and New Tricks!!

We. Are. Doomed.

The new Editor has worked on Eastenders, Holby City and New Tricks!!

I look forward to seeing Dennis Waterman voicing Mr Pullen, as well as writing the the.e tune, singing the theme tune.

Jellykat · 13/09/2016 21:58

LikeDylan Ian defo knew about Charlie and Adams kiss beforehand, thanks to Rob. It's why he fell out with Helen... Think he's peed off because it was brought out in the open for all, during the court case, and made out to be an affair rather then just a kiss?

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 13/09/2016 22:04

Ahhhh I see. And Adam's steamy romp with the picker? Did he know about that? (I've always wanted to use the phrase steamy romp)

Jellykat · 13/09/2016 22:11

My sieve for a brain can't remember if Ian was aware of Adam and the pickers 'steamy romp'.. Grin For some reason i think he was, but i may be very wrong there!

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 13/09/2016 22:14

Ian was aware of the steamy romp. Jenny spilled it to Rob in a drunken moment and Rob gleefully shared it with Ian alongside the news about Charlie

TopazRocks · 13/09/2016 22:27

I recall Ian saying to Adam, when he came back after his ONS with Pawel, something like 'Thank goodness you've come back to me'. At the time I thought he'd suspected the ONS aka steamy romp, but now I'm thinking he thought Adam had left for good. IIRC Adam stomped out after a big row and met Pawel by chance in a pub in ? borchester. Maybe someone can tell me what they rowed about - was it when Ian wanted to give sperm to his friend and Adam was against the idea? His reaction now to the news makes me think he maybe hadn't known after all - not till Knob stirred it. It must be awful to have the whole thing being made so public. I hope it's not a sign that Ian's actor wants to leave - he is one of my faves.

Now is the time to tell you all I've never liked Caroline. Not sure why really - her voice, the unattractive things she says, her friendship with the lying horsewoman? Maybe all of those.

TopazRocks · 13/09/2016 22:32

That's the reason why i am sure Ian is not Henry's sperm donor - cos when an old friend wanted sperm to impregnate her and asked Ian, Adam was very unhappy at the idea. Ian being a faithful and reliable type would never have gone behind Adam's back. Anyway I am sure we will soon find Henry has a great liking for windmills or Danish bacon. Smile

TopazRocks · 13/09/2016 22:34

LikeDylan, i think Mr Pullen is no more. I am sure there was talk about 2 years ago about the demise of Mr P.

Cromwell1536 · 13/09/2016 22:43

Why is Soosan kept on at the dairy? She's a nightmare in any circumstances, but surely Pat would have cottoned on about her insinuations against Hellin? I wouldn't have her near my yoghurts, I can tell you!

TopazRocks · 13/09/2016 22:50

Maybe now Pat has rediscovered her spine there will be changes at the dairy. I wonder what Susan will say to Helen when they meet for the first time in ages. Something barbed no doubt.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/09/2016 23:32

Oh dear sweet Ian - dealing with that shit but his main thought is for Helen and whether she gets her boys.

As for the new ed... At the moment I suspect Huw is pronounced Who? in many of our heads - I notice he also worked on Going Postal, which for some unaccountable reason (uh, like hardly ever watching TV) I've never seen. Anyone know if its any good? I think thats what I'd prejudge him on ... Theres got to be some parallels between Ambridge and the Discworld, surely?

BertrandRussell · 13/09/2016 23:37

Adam's so like Brian, isn't he ? (I know they're not related)

Nice meal out, a holiday.... That'll make things better. And to show how much I love you, I'll even go at harvest time

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 13/09/2016 23:38

Thanks for clearing that up! Did the scriptwriter cadge that from the closing scene of Brief Encounter?

Topaz noooooooo!. Roy Pullen: Too fast to live, too young to die. I hope your dicky bladder isn't troubling you wherever you are. Good night sweet prince.

Oh well, Waterman could do Fat Paul instead.
