Thanks for the link to The Ambridge Observer, Bore; it has quite made my day!

Cromwell1536 · 12/09/2016 16:53

What's the AO page? Archers Omnibus? I'm running out of TA threads and craving more input while I await the next episode! MUST get out more.

TheAntiBoop · 12/09/2016 16:53

Now Anna has had a victory will she suddenly be all happy and confident?

Ackeeandsaltfish · 12/09/2016 17:00

AO

"Justin Elliot...was in intense discussions with his social secretary and would be issuing a statement when they had worked out a position they were both comfortable with!" Grin

Ackeeandsaltfish · 12/09/2016 17:01

AO = Ambridge Observer

PigletJohn · 12/09/2016 17:05

"implications of a not guilty verdict"

but not guilty means reasonable doubt (she might have thought she was defending herself) so does not mean that he can be proven guilty.

Cromwell1536 · 12/09/2016 17:06

Ah, wouldn't it be lovely if Anna were all happy and confident now? but she's wound very tightly, isn't she - even as a girl selon her mum. So I expect she'll start getting anxious about the next case.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2016 17:09

AO is brilliant - thanks!

BertrandRussell · 12/09/2016 17:10

Don't forget the dumteedum podcast They haven't put this week's out yet!

Fiderer · 12/09/2016 17:22

Greengager YY to Miss Climpson.

Was so focused on the verdict I was aurally flapping away the jury discussions like an irritating fly.

LA this morning and was quite shocked at how sledgehammery it was. Reading other posters' experiences, not quite as shocked now.

Aoife89 · 12/09/2016 17:24

Word of warning don't find out what the voice actors look like in real life, it just takes so much away from the characters

PitchFork · 12/09/2016 17:40

not with knob it doesn't :)

Abraiid2 · 12/09/2016 17:56

Even if Rob took Henry it might be possible for Helen to issue some kind of legal communication to the extent that he does not have permission to take Henry abroad.
Or not?

arranged · 12/09/2016 17:57

She could definitely stop him going abroad with Henry

ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2016 18:01

I don't think he'd do that - Henry is a pawn in his game, 'Gideon' is the prize he'll really want and scarpering with (or hurting) Henry at this point would blow his chances there.

ibrowze · 12/09/2016 18:07

I wouldn't want to be Tim Watson's wife when they have an argument. Given her name is Helen. I wonder if he sounds the same when angry in RL Wink

R4 · 12/09/2016 18:20

Even if Rob took Henry it might be possible for Helen to issue some kind of legal communication to the extent that he does not have permission to take Henry abroad.

We've already done that SL (Will/Emma/Ed/George, wasn't it?)

Olympiathequeen · 12/09/2016 18:25

Rob was on bbc breakfast and he seems such a nice bloke irl Smile

Tuktuktaker · 12/09/2016 18:26

Wasn't Krait/Roy/Phoebles, R4?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/09/2016 18:26

And Roy/Kate.

Tuktuktaker · 12/09/2016 18:26

*Wasn't it..

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/09/2016 18:43

The Ed/Em/Will story was about Ed and Em talking about moving abroad and taking George with them. Can't remember how it got resolved but it didn't get anywhere near reality.

Kate was stopped at the port trying to take Phoebe abroad. Roy got an injunction, backed IIRC by Jennifer and Brian.

HometoMandalay · 12/09/2016 18:52

Just musing on the residency thing for Henry. Surely there was only a residency hearing in the first place because his default (and in fact only real) parent was indisposed. Now that Helen is back wouldn't she become default parent again? Or is the issue now that Rob has equal rights because of his PR? It seems terribly wrong doesn't it? They would surely get at least 50/50 access? My fear is that that's what will drive her back to Rob - his withholding access to Henry so she and Jack move back in to BHC as Helen can't bear to be without Henry.
Presumably this would be altered if Rob were convicted of coercive control/rape, and his access would at least be supervised? Does anyone know how this would actually work? (I guess there is limited case law/precedent for this as CC is such a new law - oh good, the SWs can probably just do what they like...). Maybe this is where the CC grandstanding comes in - if you report and successfully have your partner convicted of CC it enables you to protect your children?

So I'm hoping that someone has written a to-do lost for Helen:

  1. Get proper legal advice in advance of the residency hearing on Weds
  2. Get proper legal advice about reporting Rob for coercive control and how this would work.
  3. Get some counselling sorted out to work through the last horrific months/years and help build Her confidence
  4. Consider a restraining order against Rob (not sure if she has grounds for this?)

I'm frightened for her as I can hear Louiza's voice in my head: "oh Mum/Dad/Kirsty I can't think about any of that now. I just want to enjoy being back on the farm with my beautiful baby." In reality she needs to be in efficient Helen mode and Getting Stuff Done

HometoMandalay · 12/09/2016 18:53

Sorry - could have done with an extra paragraph in there!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/09/2016 18:56

It is interesting. However:

  1. The simple, fast track PR procedures are presumably a godsend to people with normal healthy relationships where it makes sense for a stepparent to be able to make important decisions for a child they live with if the other parent is unable to. Previously they would have had to go through adoption (biological parent included, like Shula and Alistair did with Daniel).
  1. Helen will have to get her head sorted PDQ as there is a family court hearing this week.
