Ah choccypig TA is now called something like 'a daily drama in rural surroundings" (forgive me if it's not quite correct ) but I did notice that it's not called an 'everyday story of country folk' any more.

BOOP for the end of Helen's misery, yes I was in tears too Grin though thumbs down for the unrealistic appearance of Titchener on his own, without any defence for Hellin or Kirstie scratching his eyes out.

Cromwell1536 · 11/09/2016 21:10

Absolutely! what is the point of a tight-knit community if it can't turn as one on a total cunt and refuse to sell him a pint or let him coach the cricket team, eh?

JudyCoolibar · 11/09/2016 21:10

Brexit voters aren't going to be happy with TA putting them into the same camp as the F4J chairman and bigot woman.

ppeatfruit · 11/09/2016 21:11

Oh yes Sooooosan Bore I hope she's written well.

I wonder if the repeat will take an hour tomorrow?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/09/2016 21:13

Yes, tomorrow TA replaces the afternoon play.

DesolateWaist · 11/09/2016 21:14

Only skimmed through the thread, so sorry if this has been mentioned already, but if Ambridge is in the midlands then how come none of the jury had a midlands accent?

BurnTheBlackSuit · 11/09/2016 21:15

TA sounded like the afternoon play (but not as well written) so that makes sense.

KathyBeale · 11/09/2016 21:18

I did jury service a couple of years ago and that was so like my experience that I wonder if our deliberations were bugged.

I thought it was great and as an EastEnders fan I hope SOC does similar good stuff in Walford.

MephistoMarley · 11/09/2016 21:18

I thought it was mostly good but I also didn't understand how they got from where they were to not guilty. I suppose they wanted the suspenseful verdict which might have been more signposted if the discussion had made more sense. In general it was good. Even my 8 year old insisted on listening to it.

ColdTeaAgain · 11/09/2016 21:22

Have just listened to the verdict. Haven't read the thread yet but just need to vent my frustration at Helen not telling P&T about Rob threatening her!! It was like we were back at square one again, arghhhhh!

Toomuchtea · 11/09/2016 21:23

Caught up now. Did wonder what the chances were of someone who has experienced domestic abuse, an abuser and someone who has seen it from the outside all being on the same jury. And I also wondered how they got from here to there, as it were. I did think it would be a majority verdict with Nigel Havers going for guilty.

But hugely relieved Helen found not guilty on both counts.

As for the fact she didn't mention Rob to PatnTone, that I found believable. It does take time to change your behaviour, and although she's changed a lot of what she thought, that was the first time she'd seen Rob in months and the instinctive thing to do would be to revert to her usual behaviour (at least with regard to the secrecy).

I am very worried about poor old Henry, and I am looking forward to how the rest of the Ambridgeites are going to greet the verdict, Helen, and Rob.

KingscoteStaff · 11/09/2016 21:27

Let me check that I've got this right...
The only evidence that we heard from Henry was 3 days after the stabbing.
So why on earth did he have to be separated from Helen for the duration?

AnnieNoMouse · 11/09/2016 21:27

Cannot wait for court proceedings mark two when Borchester Social Services decides to bring care proceedings in relation to both kids on the basis that neither an alleged rapist nor a knife wielder are suitable parents

But surely the fact that Helen was found not guilty because she was wielding the knife in self defence means that she is not actually a"knife wielder", just someone defending her child?

pennygoodlife · 11/09/2016 21:28

Are spoilers allowed on this thread? If so can someone add any trailers from the RT or somewhere

Cromwell1536 · 11/09/2016 21:29

TmT: I found Hellin's reaction rather incredible - surely she'd run panting back to PatNTony to splurge that Rob had basically threatened her and held Henwee's safety over her? I can't believe that having heard on day 3 of the trial that Rob was a rapist Pat and Tony would have been drifting around the courtroom and not trying to get custody of Henry. I am so upset for this little boy! I need to get a grip.

also, am v much looking forward to reactions among Ambridge now....

ColdTeaAgain · 11/09/2016 21:30

And what on earth were they thinking letting her go off alone if there was a chance she could bump into Rob!! Just seemed so ridiculous! Thank goodness she stood up to him which I suppose was the point of that bit but I still didn't like how it was done!

Apart from that I thought it was pretty good. I liked how the jury all had their own agenda and baggage on the subject which I imagine must be pretty true to life in any emotive court case.

Dreading the messy business with the custody battle :( just want Helen to have full custody and for Rob to go far, far away but it's never going to happen is it!

ImperialBlether · 11/09/2016 21:32

What - Ian is Henry's father? I thought it was a sperm donor?

ImperialBlether · 11/09/2016 21:33

Cromwell, it's because Rob said he couldn't take his eyes off her (in an admiring way) - she's going to be drawn back in...

HumphreyCobblers · 11/09/2016 21:35

pennygoodlife - no spoilers here but there is another thread in Radio Addicts

Cromwell1536 · 11/09/2016 21:36

Imp, it was so blatantly a threat that even Hellin, thick as mince though she has been on so many occasions, could not have missed it. Really, no. She cannot possibly be drawn back in. She will get her son back and Rob will be run out of the village on a rail.

ImperialBlether · 11/09/2016 21:38

Oh I heard it differently. I'll have to listen again. I thought he was saying it in a nice voice to draw her back in (so he could kill her!)

BitOutOfPractice · 11/09/2016 21:39

Not listened yet. La la last fingers in ears place marking

standingonlego · 11/09/2016 21:40

I think something has happened...in that conversation has made Hellin keep quiet..."a if you don't do X I will do Y to Henry"...most ominous...

standingonlego · 11/09/2016 21:41

She was so calm...unnerving...

Cromwell1536 · 11/09/2016 21:42

No, he was saying "I'm watching you, you'll never get away, you think you're free, but you're not. Oh and I've got Henry.' In her shoes, I would be running to BHC and snatching Henry from Arsula's arms. Bruce would be happy to see 'the little bastard' go.
