dd has just asked if soc is the one who decided to make the story go in a strange dramatic unnecessary way...

yep...

AnnieNoMouse · 11/09/2016 20:42

Not read the thread yet but very pleased with the verdict - was close to tearfulness when Pat met Jack.
So big BOOPS for the verdict.

Although at the end I was convinced something really bad was going to happen, such as Tony keel over from a fatal heart attack. When Rob turned up I thought he was about to stab Helen. Shock

The whole idea of a celebrity jury shouting over each other for an hour was nonsense. Bloody SOC - glad he's gone. (Or will he be lurking in the shadows like Rob? Will we ever get rid of him?)

musicposy · 11/09/2016 20:43

Did anyone else notice Tony saying, "We'll never have to see the inside of this court again", and immediately think, oh yes you will.

Absolutely! The minute I heard that I thought; you live in a BBC soap, of course you will! I did wonder if it was foreboding of things to come, though....

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/09/2016 20:44

So long SOC, derivative to the last.

And BAH! to the lazy stereotyping already mentioned.

Still, it has kept me hooked and now we have the custody (I know that's not the right term) and access to Henwee and Gack to get through. Am hoping for some ding-dong battles there, but interspersed with more Ambridgey stuff.

I hope they won't attempt to go down the Knob-attempting-family-annihilation route though.

And can we have Matt and Hayley back now? Perhaps Prat could have a cuppa and a chat with her erstwhile best friend Kathy too.

Northernlurker · 11/09/2016 20:44

I do hope Harrison invites rob to the station to talk about the rapes.

And that Jess is moving house.......

BoffinMum · 11/09/2016 20:45

I think Hellin should get out and make some new friends, join a village S+M group, that kind of thing.

AnnieNoMouse · 11/09/2016 20:47

My prediction. Caz will be released and will move to Ambridge and work in Pat's dairy. This will be a reprise of Sharon, the older woman who got involved with John. This time, Caz will become involved with Jonny Grin , and Pat will be accepting of the relationship having learnt some important life lessons.

RandomDent · 11/09/2016 20:48

Oh please don't bring back the Perkses. I was not a fan.

Fiderer · 11/09/2016 20:49

Can we please now go back to the Flower & Produce Show?

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/09/2016 20:50

Annie Grin

glintwithpersperation · 11/09/2016 20:51

Why did I think it was brilliant??

I thought it demonstrated how 'truth' is in the eye of the beholder
How a strong narrative (the abused friend) help 'us' understand
How are own experiences follow us everywhere we go
That it's quite typical to look at an act in isolation
Most people have very litte understanding of DV and the jurors demo'd that really well
It was excellently acted
I loved the 12 Angry Men references, the shift in tone, the chaos and confusion
I thought all of the characters shone through
The sense of urgency- none of them wanted to be there
The tension and then relief.
The drama

If Rob is going to pester her as he did after the trial, shouldn't she be asking for an injunction to keep him away?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/09/2016 20:55

OK, people we want to hear more of now:

Brian and Jennifer
Christopher and Alice (but ideally only if Pip has a sudden change of heart about working on the other side of the world so I can tell the voices apart)
Lilian and Matt - bye bye Justin, hello Tiger!
Jim
Susan and Neil
Emma and Ed, ideally doing well
Lynda and Robert

I could cheerfully accept never hearing Kathy ever again.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/09/2016 20:57

Much obliged, Bore!

I give it a week before the new Editor is announced. I can't believe the appointment hasn't been made after all this time.

R4 · 11/09/2016 20:59

Why did I think it wasn't brilliant

couldn't keep track of that many new voices
they talked over the top of each other, I hadn't got a scooby what was going on
they wasted time on irrelevances like going to the loo
they seemed to be discussing their own lives, not the case before them
they were all walking stereotypes
how on earth did Brexit come into itConfused
they abruptly came to a decision that seemed to bear no relation to their discussions

As ever, the only redeeming factor was Rob.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 11/09/2016 21:00

Apparently, the custody hearing is on 14th according to BBC News.

Olympiathequeen · 11/09/2016 21:01

Enjoyed the rehashing of twelve angry men and the jurors with their own agenda. But disconcerting that Lisa kept slipping into Lauren Shock

So relieved with the verdict as I though it was going to be a hung jury and we would all have to shout at the radio again!

Very emotional with patandtone. Well acted. Agree what about Henry? What will happen to him when rob gets home Sad

I predict there will be a long drawn out custardy battle and Helen will have no choice but to press charges for CC to get both children. Wink

HumphreyCobblers · 11/09/2016 21:01

"Did anyone else notice Tony saying, "We'll never have to see the inside of this court again", and immediately think, oh yes you will."

Yes - and it gave me a terrible chill Sad Worried for Helen and Henry now, also maybe Kirsty and Jess.

I thought the emotional bit with Tony, Helen and Pat was brilliant. Especially when Tony said he wished he could have sat in the dock for her and she said "you did Dad".

glowfrog · 11/09/2016 21:03

Enquiring exactly :-(

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/09/2016 21:06

If you read the Tim Stimpson piece on the BBC blog, the answer to the Brexit references is that he was writing that just after the verdict came in and was struck by the much reported correlation between attitudes to capital punishment and Brexit - socially conservative people tended to vote Leave is the gist of it, I believe.

cheminotte · 11/09/2016 21:06

Only listened to film today (the one at 10am that is).
Place marking until I've caught up.

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/09/2016 21:07

Looking forward to hearing Ambridgeites interacting with Knob. I want to hear Kenton barring him from The Bull.

And Soosan... Grin
