What day is it again?

OP posts:
TheAntiBoop · 10/09/2016 09:33

I'm not listening for two reasons

First the celebrity love in and second the fact soc can't keep to the 15 min slots. So fed up of it.

PseudoBadger · 10/09/2016 09:34

Thread titles please

I'm away and was trying to find ways to keep in touch with the hour episode without irritating DP too much. Very disappointed by the celebrity thing and won't be bothering.
it makes a mockery of the serious storyline of CC SadAngry

'You Don't Have To Be Called Williams (But It Helps)'

ErrolTheDragon · 10/09/2016 09:55

I dunno - if you're going to do the jury deliberations ( which may turn out to be good radio drama) then you need a bunch of non-regulars, and they do need to be good actors. Maybe SOC got this nepotistic set on the cheap for the honour and fun of being in a TA special?

Toms eco warrior case apparently had a 45 min jury special, I was off TA then (blame the then babyDragon) , was that cast 'celebs' or a bunch of the faceless but brilliant folk who regularly inhabit radio dramas?

ErrolTheDragon · 10/09/2016 09:58

Thread titles? Maybe something along the lines of The jury's out: will the next major SL feature incest or compost?

OhTheRoses · 10/09/2016 10:01

Please SOC steer cowardy Custer knob towards flight into custardy - revenge is a daily bowl of birds.

JudyCoolibar · 10/09/2016 10:07

How can they squeeze Kate O'Mara in?

With difficulty, as she died two years ago.

redshoeblueshoe · 10/09/2016 10:15

Grauch the second Doctor Who was Patrick Troughton, his son David plays Tony Archer, and his grandson William plays Tom Archer of course there is no nepotism at the BBC

JasperDamerel · 10/09/2016 10:16

Twelve (Eleven? Eight?) Angry Listeners.

Justice for the Archer family or The Archers for Justin's family?

So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehn, Goodbye! As we send Sean O'Connor off to the East End, will Anna get her Tyrolean holiday or will Helen have a long long sentence to run?

Olympiathequeen · 10/09/2016 10:19

Wish they had devoted an hour long episode to the trial rather than the jury and pit in more relevant evidence like the help, one, a psychologist on DV etc.

Unless the jury are going to discuss evidence we didn't hear? I'll forgive if that's the case.

PitchFork · 10/09/2016 10:21

whoever makes custard when you can buy it in a shop?

Vango · 10/09/2016 10:21

I don't mind the celebrity special. I'm sure it's going to make an excellent one-off radio drama. Now that I've had a chance to mull over this week's events, I realise that we didn't need to hear all the evidence. We've heard it all before and we just have to trust that Helen's defence went as we hoped/expected it to. The jury will fill in the gaps.

DoctorTwo · 10/09/2016 10:22

I actually like the Jury special idea (and slightly Halo for suggesting it earlier in the thread.

It's a good way to cover all of the bits of the trial we missed. I'm hoping to God the 'I took precautions' line was picked up. Who accidentally sleeps with their ex-wife but has he forethought to have contraception handy.

It also is a special in a true sense, and leaves the Archers characters in their 13 minute format.

JudyCoolibar · 10/09/2016 10:45

We didn't need to hear all the evidence, but I do think we needed to hear Rob being properly cross-examined. I know he'd have tried to slide out of all the stuff about the phone tracking, stopping Helen driving etc on the basis that it was for her benefit, but he needed to be confronted with all of that combined with Jess' evidence. Given that he thinks there is nothing wrong with his behaviour, hates being challenged, and particularly hates being challenged by women, the natural reaction would be for the mask to slip and for him to give himself away more.

Ackeeandsaltfish · 10/09/2016 10:49

How about
Blood and custard in Blosson Hill

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 10/09/2016 10:56

@ibrowze

Seems like Rob is staying in Ambridge for a while anyway. Preview for 16 September next Friday says 'Rob thinks about his new job' ... unless new job is sewing mailbags

Hello
It's an unwritten rule that we don't have spoilers on this thread. There's a whole other thread for that.
Thanks

Vango · 10/09/2016 10:58

Not hearing it all has left us hanging, in complete suspense. Without the cross examination, or the judge's full summing up, we have no clue which way it will go! Very clever, I think. I'm hoping for 45 minutes of jury deliberations, then the verdict.

ColdTeaAgain · 10/09/2016 11:01

Ooh just heard the latest trailer, have to say Kirsty's but was so good! Love that girl!

ColdTeaAgain · 10/09/2016 11:01

Gruach · 10/09/2016 11:01

Oh, yeah - I knew about the Troughtons, thanks red. Thought there might be some new scandal I hadn't heard.

I love this:
