What day is it again?

OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 08/09/2016 13:13

Unless, of course, he's just on hols the following week?

Otherwise, given that they record in advance, looks like he's ALREADY GONE!

Vango · 08/09/2016 13:15

DDD Unless I'm reading it wrong, he's Ed until 18 September? Tying up all the loose ends!

Vango · 08/09/2016 13:16

Which is what you wrote! Ignore me.

JasperDamerel · 08/09/2016 13:17

Have they announced the new editor then? Or are they going to do that on the Monday after the Sunday special?

JasperDamerel · 08/09/2016 13:18

It's all horribly egotistical of him, isn't it?

DadDadDad · 08/09/2016 13:18

Yes, maybe SOC's learnt a few tricks from his favourite gaslighter: "Where did you get the idea I was leaving? You really do get your heads in a muddle sometimes, listener, I'm not going anywhere. I mean, how can the SWs cope without me? You do see that, don't you?"

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/09/2016 13:33

No, the editor for the following week after SODOFF is Alison Hindell, BBC Head Of Drama - presumably caretaking until SOC has milked all the applause the new Editor is announced.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/09/2016 13:35

DDD you are scarily good at Knobspeak!

HometoMandalay · 08/09/2016 13:35

Hurrah for imminent SODOFF Archers

DadDadDad · 08/09/2016 13:44

Heh, heh, well when you're as talented as me, there's really nothing to it. Anyone who's a real man can manage to keep a few middle-aged female listeners entertained - just throw in a few lines of emotional dialogue and they're eating out of your hand...

...oh, whoops, is this keyboard still on?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/09/2016 13:51

But its your manly grasp of statistics which really gets to our hormone-addled brains, you know.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 08/09/2016 14:06

I think I'm enjoying this board as much as TA right now!

I am looking forward to the general fallout from Helen's rape revelation. I have been shocked on more than one occasion to hear people remark in RL that rape within marriage/relationships is somehow not rape at all. It reminds me of Nanna's throwaway line in 'The Royle Family' when talking about an old friend: "She married a builder - he knocked her about a bit, but her home was lovely." That old sentiment that things happen within marriage that are nobody else's business - life's 'ups and downs'. And I'm quite sure that Bruce & Arse would be marital-rape deniers.

DadDadDad · 08/09/2016 14:07

Ah, yes, I find a commanding grasp of statistical techniques is generally a big hit with the ladies.

JasperDamerel · 08/09/2016 14:53

Errol - you are so lucky to have Dadx3 posting on the same board as you. You must be thanking your lucky stars every time you log on! Most mumsnetters can only dream of having a poster like that in their lives. And well, considering your past unfortunate experiences with Netmums and that Twitter troll, you must be extra pleased. It's not as though you've had a lot of luck with Internet-based talk in the past, is it?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/09/2016 14:55

Grin But wash your mouth out with soap re NetMums please!

DadDadDad · 08/09/2016 14:57
Halo
ibrowze · 08/09/2016 14:59

Worst thing about CC storyline is hearing myself in Rob.
Child "Can I have an ice cream?"
Me "Of course you can. But surely all those enumbers/pig fat/sugar are at odds with your healthy lifestyle, look at 'X' next door and how unfit / many teeth fillings he has. Absolutely your choice though darling ... " etc etc
Am I guilty?

JudyCoolibar · 08/09/2016 15:00

So they've shoehorned the family court hearing into the week immediately following the criminal trial - which just wouldn't happen in RL - purely so that SOC can have his wish for the big dramatic send-off? That's proper irritated me, that has. I can't see how it would ever have been arranged that way - they can't know exactly how long the criminal trial will take, and as the outcome is going to be pretty crucial to the family court's decisions they'd need to assimilate what was happening, e.g. if Helen was convicted which prison she goes to etc etc. And someone needs to put together written evidence about the rape issue for the family court.

But we all knew that a few facts were never going to get in the way of SOC's career, didn't we?

JudyCoolibar · 08/09/2016 15:02

After Arsula was so foul to Pat, I do hope that Pat is going to favour her with a few choice opinions on her rapist son.

Putthetulipsthere · 08/09/2016 15:03

Finally I've just caught up with this thread - hardly managed any work at all this morning. Luckily I work from home.

It's lovely to be back on here, now that I've plucked up the courage to listen again.

Like the new smiley, glad that got sorted in the end, will give it a go here
Archers

Vango · 08/09/2016 15:09

Pssst.......Judy you're on the wrong thread! 😁

PitchFork · 08/09/2016 15:45

what about the flower and produce show?
isn't that this weekend?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/09/2016 15:49

Oh - so thats why we've got an extended episode on Sunday, of course!

EBearhug · 08/09/2016 16:04

Fisticuffs over the Freda Fry Memorial Prize.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/09/2016 16:11

Flower and produce show is in a couple of weeks, isn't it? Bit miffed that that doesn't merit an extended episode. Hmm
