Will this thread see the end of The Trial? And SOC?

Grumpy of course, I'd forgotten how annoying that was.
WannaBe - yes and they get custodial sentences.

Biglaugh · 07/09/2016 12:07

I don't think Helen will go to prison for this (whether or not found guilty and agree Malicious Wounding most likely outcome). So the bigger 'trial' is going to be the residence of the kids...

redshoeblueshoe · 07/09/2016 12:07

I still do not want Rob to die, I want him totally and utterly disgraced, and serving a sentence for his crimes.

NotdeadyetBOING · 07/09/2016 12:14

I am with you, Redshoes. I want painful, drawn out, humiliating suffering for Rob. To go on. And on. And on. Death would be too kind.

EBearhug · 07/09/2016 12:14

Why would someone's prep school be on their CV?

BoffinMum · 07/09/2016 12:18

Jess will emerge.
They will find the culvert incident body.

Rob will burn as guy on bonfire night with naked villagers dancing around the pyre whilst ululating.
Eddy and Joe will set up a Rob Titchener Story visitor attraction made of elves.
All will be well again in Ambridge.

WannaBe · 07/09/2016 12:20

There aren't enough witnesses for a trial though.

IIRC wasn't the prep school one which then led on to secondary etc? So the boys who started at five would go on all the way through to a-level....

GeorgeTheThird · 07/09/2016 12:23

Would it be ok for the victim of a crime currently being tried to be accused of a crime in evidence? I don't think the court would just carry on with the proceedings as it has here, I think the proceedings would have been interrupted so the court could determine whether (and how) to deal with the new allegations?

redshoeblueshoe · 07/09/2016 12:24

Boffin Star I find that totally acceptable Grin

RockNRollNerd · 07/09/2016 12:27

My suspicion is more witnesses today/tomorrow then summing up Friday and the 'cliffhanger' will be 'have you reached a verdict' dum te dum...and then Sunday will be the verdict and the aftermath.

Either that or Friday's cliffhanger will be Jess but I'm guessing she will be today if she's the mystery person who has just turned up.

Presumably Rob's wounds were photographed by the police so why didn't Anna get a forensic pathologist to review them and go on the stand to say they could be caused by him falling (I keep getting Chicago 'he ran into my knife ten times' in my head when they talk about the wounds) rather than the surgeon who was very much 'well I'm not an expert, my job was to save his life'.

And agree with everyone else that the chattering in court is annoying - I wonder if we've got the Amex writer who did the 'voices in the characters' heads' to thank for that.

tomtherabbit · 07/09/2016 12:38

I would like Sunday's episode to be the jurors.

12 angry men style with cuts to Jill turning up with lemon drizzle for Pat & Tony.

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/09/2016 12:40

LOVE the Grundy Elf World bringing us the Rob Tichenor Story

Mootsie · 07/09/2016 12:40

Why would someone's prep school be on their CV?

I doubt it would be, EBearhug but his boarding school probably would be so you could maybe find out the feeder prep schools from that info?

Or maybe I'm just another deluded soul clutching at straws?

Putthetulipsthere · 07/09/2016 12:47

Boffin 😂 Seems AVery reasonable plot to me! Someone ought to suggest it to SOC 😁😁

I haven't listened to TA for months now -I just wondered about Susan. Is she still a fan of Rob?? If so she must have had a few things to say to Neil if he's going to be a character witness?

Also does Rob have any character witnesses?? Not Justin Elliot, please?

theredjellybean · 07/09/2016 12:48

am i the only one getting angry that there is so much ambridge talk about ' helen being guilty or not guilty' ...surely she is guilty, she did stab him, no one is denying that...it is just why she stabbed him that is in dispute...self defence/ an abused wife finally snapping/ reason if insanity/ or cold blooded pre medidated ....

she will be found guilty but i reckon judge wil give suspended sentence.

also why did judge shout down Kirsty's grand standing speech telling her to answer the questions only but he didnt do the same with Rob the day before...bleghhh....

BoffinMum · 07/09/2016 12:49

I would like to see the MNetter who does the big Playmobil montages interpret the whole Helen thing through that particular medium. Oh yes.

tomtherabbit · 07/09/2016 12:55

Boffin, are you aware of @plarchers on Twitter?

NotdeadyetBOING · 07/09/2016 12:57

Absoutely, JellyBean. All the whining about Helen 'not being guilty' etc. Hard to deny she stuck a knife into him and three cheers for that. Clearly guilty of that, but as you say - key is unpicking why and determining what sentence will be.

Desperate for Rob to lose his rag in court. A nasty homophobic rant would work well.

I have a massive project I am supposed to be working on this week. Ability to concentrate being hugely derailed by focus on Ambridge goings-on. So over-infested it's not true.

Puremince · 07/09/2016 12:58

Will Helen be asked why, given the allegations of the rapes, she didn't leave Rob? Why stay on for that final meal?

theredjellybean · 07/09/2016 13:00

notdeadyet...yes working from home here is being very very disrupted by events in ambridge ( oh and mumsnet :))

Vango · 07/09/2016 13:01

If Jess has changed her mind and agreed to give evidence won't the prosecution just have a field day with her? Another damaged, jealous, vengeful ex-wife who colluded with Helen to punish Rob? They'll surely argue that her testimony that he raped her too doesn't tally with her desperate attempts to have him acknowledge his paternity after she'd 'successfully escaped the clutches of such an evil abuser'? Wasn't Ursula heavily involved and interested in Ethan? Rob will be able to prove that Jess is a liar when Helen admits that Jess told her that Ethan's father was her old university friend. Unless there's more we don't yet know I really don't see how Jess will help.

Vango · 07/09/2016 13:08

And whilst I think of it, what use is Ian? Already got form for punching Rob and a massive grudge against him for knowing more about Adam's indiscretions than Ian did himself. Famously one of the only residents of Ambridge to openly dislike Rob from the beginning! Again, if I was prosecuting I'd be very pleased that Ian was a character witness for Helen.

TeenyfTroon · 07/09/2016 13:09

Listening in real time this week so for once I'm up to date.
I get the need for contrast in Helen's delivery last night, but to begin with I felt she sounded too strong. Enjoyed, if that's the right word, the revelation of the multiple rapes.
Jessie, congratulations - he's gorgeous! FlowersFlowers
Had to laugh at advice to H to give serious thought to stabbing the Patterwauler. (Think it was shinynewusername.)Grin

WannaBe · 07/09/2016 13:10

Perhaps Ethan's paternity is the key here. Perhaps she needed Ethan to be Rob's in order to prove that he had raped her. Perhaps she in fact planned to press charges against him but when it turned out that Ethan wasn't Rob's she knew that a rape allegation wouldn't stand up in court and she didn't have the strength to face the cross examination which goes hand in hand with rape charges - iyswim.
