Will this thread see the end of The Trial? And SOC?

I thought Helen shouting to Pat and Tony was brilliant. Perfect to be honest. More said in those few words than all the rest of the wittering. Does anyone know how this would work legally? Can this accusation be discussed in the trial.

JudyCoolibar · 06/09/2016 23:25

Did Anna not say 'the transcript has arrived'?

I don't think so. She said something about Helen ending the phone call before they could ask to take notes, which implies that they don't record calls or take notes without permission.

can Rob be questioned again or do they only have the one chance?

I think the prosecution could decide to recall him because the evidence about rape is new, and should be put to him so that he can deny it and be cross-examined on it.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/09/2016 23:25

Hey, we're fast approaching 900, I don't think this thread will last for the duration, so we need some thread title ideas for psuedobadger to hone. My thought tonight is courtesy of Gilbert and Sullivan "Trial by jury: SILENCE IN COURT"

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 06/09/2016 23:27

I think Jess may turn up as a witness..

BoffinMum · 06/09/2016 23:29

Does nobody ever use the term gaslighting get except on here? You would think that would be a useful label in court. Perhaps too colloquial?

tomtherabbit · 07/09/2016 00:13

Also, if I were on the jury, I would find it hard to reconcile Rob & Ursula's account of Mrs Rochester type unstable mad woman, with the cold and calculating plot with Kirsty involving setup calls to women's aid etc.

Or even Rob's declaration that she's a compulsive liar.

She's either in control of her senses or not.

And if she was emotionally fragile when living with Rob but calm and collected now, that must also tell them something.

JudyCoolibar · 07/09/2016 00:29

I think Jess may turn up as a witness.

I think she already has.

PseudoBadger · 07/09/2016 06:17

Thanks Errol - I have one in mind using that phrase already Wink

Helen and Louise Star brilliant
Talking in court badly done SOC, badly done

Psuedo I think we'll need a new thread at some point today

EmilyDickinson · 07/09/2016 07:32

So who do we reckon will be on the stand tonight?

So far we've had:

Witnesses for the prosecution

Rob
Kirsty
Henry
Ursula
Pat
The doctor

Did we hear Harrison or any other police? It's hard to hear the witnesses over all the chatting from the gallery.

Witnesses for the defence:

Helen

I guess we'll hear Helen being cross-examined tonight. That's going to be tough on her. I hope she manages to stay calm and in control.

Still to come for the defence:

Jess (possibly)
Ian (character)
Neil (character)

Does she have anyone else?

ErrolTheDragon · 07/09/2016 08:07

I thought part of Fallon's witter was that Harrison was giving evidence that day? There was also DS (or was it DI?) Madley. And surely at some point there will be psychologist and/or psychiatrist evidence? And maybe Anna should call the midwife.

DadDadDad · 07/09/2016 08:16

Anna said that after Pat it would be PC then doctor, the latter just to confirm that Helen was fit for trial. So it was a bit of a surprise to cut back to hear Helen on the stand, but I guess they were jumping over all the dry stuff that we would already know as a listener. Harrison presumably was limited to a factual description of what he found on arrival at BHC, not opinion about Helen or Rob.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/09/2016 08:22

Morning all.

Is there going to be a double episode? Or was that just a rumour?

GrumpyOldBag · 07/09/2016 08:23

The bits with the spectators talking over the testimony are annoying, but it's a dramatic device - the scriptwriters don't expect you to be able to hear the testimony that's being spoken over, we won't be missing crucial evidence at this points.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/09/2016 08:25

Harrison's report was probably all blood and custard.

Abraiid2 · 07/09/2016 08:31

There's no way that Pat and Tony would be shouting out in a court. People like them just wouldn't. I know there is a dramatic requirement for them to do so, but it makes me cringe.

Scorbus · 07/09/2016 08:35

Amazing acting by Louisa, I was holding my breath throughout and was very nearly tearful.

I think Jess will turn up to put the final nail in the coffin for Rob's prosecution and then he'll find himself in the dock for the rapes/CC.

Well I can but hope!

BertrandRussell · 07/09/2016 08:35

"There's no way that Pat and Tony would be shouting out in a court. People like them just wouldn't. I know there is a dramatic requirement for them to do so, but it makes me cringe."

Absolutely. The "I'm here, darling" was credible- but nothing else.

Abraiid2 · 07/09/2016 08:44

A touch of Albert Square, Bertrand.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 07/09/2016 08:53

I can see why they've opted to gloss whatever's happening with Pat/Tony/Fallon expressing what I suppose they think the listener is thinking or asking, but FUCK it is annoying! I wish we could just be trusted to listen all by ourselves, like grown-ups.

YellowPrimula · 07/09/2016 09:15

Sorry may not have kept up but doesn't Dr Locke know something , he was very odd about Rob and the paternity test for Jess's baby.

I have got very fed up with the whole storyline at times but the last two nights have been very good , except for the talking our the witness

redshoeblueshoe · 07/09/2016 09:21

I think Helens drink/driving accident will come up. That shows her to be lying and manipulative.

BOOP isn't there supposed to be an hour on Sunday evening

redshoeblueshoe · 07/09/2016 09:24

Yellow - it was odd because the sw's had forgotten they had already met, so a hastily badly written new script appeared.
Then KD went on twitter to confirm that Knob was not the father.

selsigfach · 07/09/2016 09:44

I've just Ben thinking about Helen saying it happened "over and over". We heard it happen twice. I assume now it happened more frequently off-air but this wasn't alluded to previously.

JudyCoolibar · 07/09/2016 09:49

The fact that we're not missing anything vital when people in the gallery talk doesn't make it any less annoying. I find it wholly unbelievable that parents in court when their vulnerable daughter is being tried for attempted murder wouldn't be hanging on every word she said, not talking to each other.
