Will this thread see the end of The Trial? And SOC?

What happened then? Cannot bear to listen.

Stickerrocks · 05/09/2016 20:03

Kirsty

They've released an interview with Annabel about her court appearance.

tomtherabbit · 05/09/2016 20:03

Also - is there a detailed account of the crime scene.

If so, did no one ask Rob why, if Helen was so angry she smashed the tuna bake - she then went on to make custard before deciding to stab him.

CeciledeVolanges · 05/09/2016 20:23

Why why why why why did she not discuss this with Anna in advance? Why didn't Anna cross examine her about it? It will just have set the judge more against Helen, surely. There is a good reason that nobody uses court to grandstand like that.

spiker · 05/09/2016 20:25

Yes...the custard...

CeciledeVolanges · 05/09/2016 20:27

Sorry, I know why she didn't discuss with Anna in advance, so scratch that. And I can actually understand why she didn't think Anna was competent enough to get her point across as well >_

Minimammoth · 05/09/2016 20:28

Perhaps Fallon has gone Poldarchers

Gumpendorf · 05/09/2016 20:28

I haven't seen East Enders since Arthur went into his depression, but I imagine these outbursts happen a lot in Walford courts, Cecile. Wink

PrincessFiorimonde · 05/09/2016 20:51

Thanks, Gasp0de. I obviously missed the pre-trial publicity stuff. I know they record the child actors separately, so I imagine we won't hear Henry's cross-examination on air then, for the reasons you suggest.

And thanks, tom. Forgot that the residency hearing is still to come! Blush

Northernlurker · 05/09/2016 20:52

I thought it was ok for Helen really. Kirsty explained huge concern over a period of time and got the stuff about work in too. Helen would be fine if I was on the jury, I'd be bursting to get in that room and do my best Henry Fonda re coercive control. And Henry did say daddy got angry.....

tomtherabbit · 05/09/2016 20:55

Exactly.

Mummy cries and Daddy shouts and I'm not allowed downstairs.

enochroot · 05/09/2016 20:57

The bit about not being allowed to come downstairs was telling too.

BertrandRussell · 05/09/2016 21:07

Lots of Mumsnet children are not allowed downstairs after going to bed. Just saying........

TheAntiBoop · 05/09/2016 21:59

My kids aren't allowed downstairs after official tucking in. Doesn't stop them unfortunately!

EasyToEatTiger · 05/09/2016 22:10

My children are not supposed to come downstairs once they have gone up, but they are certainly not afraid to come down. My own experience was very different.and fucked up

birdsdestiny · 05/09/2016 22:24

What was that with Fallon. I left the room for a couple of seconds and when I got back I thought somehow Caz was in court, I couldn't figure out what was going on.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2016 22:30

Poor little Henry. A power ranger might 'keep him safe' but he needed his nice cuddly bunny too.

And he's still with Rob, who doubtless will be seething but keep it under and in best 'good daddy' mode for the duration but then...

CeciledeVolanges · 05/09/2016 22:30

True, true, Grumpendorf. Also (last nitpick, I promise I'm nice in real life), but why do we always have to say "little Jack" or "little Henry" or "little Jayden"? It is hardly going to be "big Jack" is it, given that he died some time ago now...

AnnieNoMouse · 05/09/2016 22:31

I wish we'd heard more of Rob's testimony today. I was hoping he was going to really crack under pressure - which he was getting close too yesterday. Brilliant acting by TW - excellently playing Rob badly acting "innocent victim"

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2016 22:32

Beats me why they had Fallon wittering, it didn't seem to add much.

CeciledeVolanges · 05/09/2016 22:32

And that was absolutely not aimed at you, Errol because it works in the context of "poor little Henry". Just not when it is "Helen is away from little Henry, oh look, it's little Jayden, what do we do about little Gideon." Now I feel I've been a terrible snob, which I probably have!

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2016 22:34

Yy, annie, I'd assumed thats what they'd do. Presumably he'll be recalled to the stand later?

AnnieNoMouse · 05/09/2016 22:38

Can he be recalled? I think the prosecution might be sensible not to even if they have the choice ...

2rebecca · 05/09/2016 22:43

Fallon wittering just made me want to hit her. I find the audience interruptions annoying. The trial has been uninspiring so far. The person who thought added wittering would improve it needs shot. Ok if a real trial going on for days but in a very condensed radio drama it is unnecessary

JessieMcJessie · 05/09/2016 22:52

Just popped on to say that so listened to last week's omnibus when I was in labour last Weds. With hindsight, I am not sure that hearing Rob threaten Ian was ideal for a calm birth experience as it was just after that bit that I caved and asked for an epidural!

Listening now I have new found sympathy for Helen going through labour, C section recovery and caring for a newborn in prison.

Listening to the chat in the public gallery is annoying me immensely. Having been the gallery for a murder trial myself in the capacity of friend of the victim we would never have dared breathe a word during the proceedings. I suppose that certain allowances have to be made for radio drama though...
