Will this thread see the end of The Trial? And SOC?

Surely Rob wouldn't have lost his temper already. The whole point of his character is that he is charming, and able to fool people. It just felt a bit off that he lost control of himself so quickly. He has managed to keep the facade up for months with the entire village. Anna wasn't pushing him that hard, surely he is too clever to immediately start frothing at the mouth.

cherryminx · 05/09/2016 22:55

Cannot decide who has the most annoying voice on TA - Henwee, Jill, Robs mum aka Anna's mum (who sound like the same person to me) - or Fallon whispering ...

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2016 23:07

Rob can be charming and fool people when he's controlling the game. But in situations where he doesn't have the upper hand (the sab, Ian, Charlie) then it all goes to pot - violence, overt nastiness, flouncing from his job.

R4 · 05/09/2016 23:10

Aaaw, Jessie. I've seen your photos on the other thread - he's so cute.Grin Congrats!Flowers

DadDadDad · 05/09/2016 23:19

I think we have to give the SW a bit of latitude that as this is radio, we need the voices in the gallery to tell us what is happening even if in real life I am sure most people would observe silence in such a formal setting.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2016 23:23

Tom and Fallon talking before the start and at the lunch break was fine, but I didn't think the bits in the gallery added anything useful.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2016 23:25

Whereas yesterday at least the comment about the stick was pertinent ( if we hadn't already seen it in the precognitive court artists sketch)

DadDadDad · 05/09/2016 23:32

But today we also got the description of how Helen was reacting to seeing Henry (and a reminder that Helen is silently hearing all this). I think they also indicated that Rob was there (presumably permitted now he has given his evidence - will that give an opportunity for him to react badly to Helen's evidence later in the week?).

ColdTeaAgain · 05/09/2016 23:42

Does Knob have his walking stick in court? Missed that bit, grrrr that man!!

Well as predicted it's all looking like it's pretty much going Rob's way so far, although Kirsty was great. Very important point that those around Helen didn't notice the gradual changes but someone who had been away for a long time noticed a huge difference.

TopazRocks · 05/09/2016 23:48

NO, the comments during proceedings do not help anyone. I try to imagine If I had normal hearing, and i think I'd still find it unhelpful. i wanted to hear Henry and couldn't. It's just a stupid and unnecessary distraction. A stupid idea.

TopazRocks · 05/09/2016 23:52

Oh i x-posted with DDD. So Knob was there? And Helen was upset? You know, that could be covered at the lunch break. All the talking over just makes both threads inaudible. I am seriously pissed off, and will complain. Tomorrow probably as I have to sleep now.

JessieMcJessie · 06/09/2016 01:23

A boy baby indeed. Gideon Kenton Nelson.

Nah, not really, but his middle name really is David.

EBearhug · 06/09/2016 02:05

As long as his first name's not Rob...
(OMG, autocorrect! What are you on? The point of you is not meant to be that I end up typing every sentence 5 times until it's coherent, FFS!)

I too am pissed off with the courtroom discussion - firstly, other than the odd possible involuntary gasp, they wouldn't be talking and having whole conversations in the first place, not least because they wouldn't want to risk getting chucked oit because of Helen.

Secondly, it makes it difficult to hear both the court proceedings and the whispered conversation and that's with normal hearing.

And thirdly, as mentioned, it would be just as easy - and more realistic - for them to talk it over in breaks. "I couldn't believe it, when he walked in with his stick!" "No, and that bit where the barrister asked him..."

Gruach · 06/09/2016 02:09

Jessie, Congratulations! Flowers

He is so gorgeous.

And, I assume, already an Archers listener?

JudyCoolibar · 06/09/2016 04:02

Rob must have officially finished giving evidence and therefore presumably is in the gallery, ready to burst into tears again at any convenient moment. I think he could be recalled if anything new came up in the evidence - notably Helen suddenly remembering the rapes - and my money's on that happening in the hour-long episode on Sunday. It would be absolutely SOC's style to hold back on Rob giving himself away in court until the last day of the trial.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/09/2016 07:06

Flowers for Jessie and family! What a gorgeous baby. Hope you're making good recovery.

I'm finding the talking annoying too. As to the timing of the Rob outburst which is surely coming, I think Judy is on the money.

Binkybix · 06/09/2016 07:21

Not up to date with thread as behind on the podcast, but I dreamt that Charlie was buried in a watery grave, and that Rob drowned a female member of the cast (can't remember which one) because she wanted it exhumed for evidence. I

It was a bit creepy but even as I was dreaming I was thinking 'MNerrs won't like this, so far fetched'.

Going to try and catch up on last night at some point today.

JasperDamerel · 06/09/2016 07:24

What was going on with Fallon? She doesn't normally say "I ain't " does she? Had she been watching too many prison dramas to get into the spirit of things beforehand?

redshoeblueshoe · 06/09/2016 07:36

Jessie Flowers what a beautiful baby.

My only comment on last night is utter bollocks
I don't watch EE - for a reason.
The BBC praising Kirsty Confused
Archers Angry Sad

Toomuchtea · 06/09/2016 08:09

Congratulations Jessie - what a gorgeous boy.

I have R4 on all the time at work and I have found the endless EE-style trailers even more annoying than the trial. I hope they will drop them now it's actually started.

Gruach · 06/09/2016 08:38

Perhaps, instead of TW and LP it's Joanna Van Kampen who will be following her leader to Albert Sq? I think she's been in TA for quite a while. And the Fallon/Harrison relationship seemed a little precarious last night.

I can easily see Fallon deciding to take her upscaling skills elsewhere. Leaving Emma in charge of the Tea Shoppe.

ColdTeaAgain · 06/09/2016 08:39

He's gorgeous Jessie congratulations Flowers

Yep I think we're in for a week of the annoying whispering and muttering in court and it all going in Knob's favour. Sunday will be the game changer. Jess in witness box?

Is this the first time they've done an extended episode or have there been others?

bakeoffcake · 06/09/2016 08:47

I'm hoping that Helen will save herself.
That she will miraculously become brave and articulate for the sake of Henwee and Jack.

ColdTeaAgain · 06/09/2016 08:52

I hope so too. Backed up by evidence given by Jess. The two women he abused showing everyone who he really is.
