A once-great soap is going down the Beverley drain.

Pat is clueless.

  1. Don't tell Rob your detailed plans - he always scotchs them

  2. Missing elf costume - deny all knowledge, say it must be at BHC. The result is that you get to gaslight Rob for a change and you get the chance to bin the wretched thing.

Note how she exploded at JD, not at Rob.Hmm When is she going to learn?

Alleycat1 · 18/07/2016 19:30

"Can I get to the knife drawer" Aaaargh!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/07/2016 19:36

The thing is, to book an overseas holiday she would have had to get Rob on board asap as he would need to apply for a passport. Henry's never been abroad, has he? I'm not at all sure he could have got one in time for a 6th August departure, but of course realistic details like that were never going to bother the SWs under the current regime.

JudyCoolibar · 18/07/2016 19:38

I think Pat did talk to the solicitor who said they wouldn't be able to vary the arrangement through the court. Though I find that a bit doubtful, given that the original arrangement presumably rested quite heavily on the fact that Rob had Arsula there to help him - and he did make a big deal of coming to court with his stick to show how grievously Helen had disabled him.

EBearhug · 19/07/2016 00:21

Pat talked to Maggie about varying the access. The solicitor is Niger, I think. I assumed Maggie is some sort of family liaison person.

I thought that about the passport - I just had mine renewed, which took just under 2 weeks, but it is a totally straight forward adult renewal, not a new application for a child whose parents are separated and one is on remand for a serious crime. There's quite a bit more form filling there, and I'd have thought one parent being locked up might slow some of the papers being signed - plus I can't see Helen agreeing to it. I'd have thought there were a bigger risk of Rob doing a runner to Canada with Henry, rather than anything else, though I assume he assumes he'll be getting custody of Jack cone September 5th.

EBearhug · 19/07/2016 00:21

For cone, read come. Stupid autoincorrect.

Gruach · 19/07/2016 04:53

And now there is a new fear in my head ...

JudyCoolibar · 19/07/2016 07:53

I thought Maggie was Pat and Tony's solicitor. Helen is separately represented by Dominic, not that he ever seems to do any work.

EBearhug · 19/07/2016 08:23

Oh, you might be right there, Judy. It was all making sense yesterday...

redshoeblueshoe · 19/07/2016 08:52

Am I alone in the fact Kate no longer annoys me ?

Her entire life seems to be
No Kate you can't do that
No Kate
NO

OK whatever you want darling, take everything
I know a couple of adults who have never heard the word NO and they are not nice, but I do actually blame their parents

BertrandRussell · 19/07/2016 09:10

She's a grown up. She annoys me more the older she gets!

ppeatfruit · 19/07/2016 09:13

Yes redshoes I was surprised to hear JD and Kate manhandling the expensive rug into the yurt after JD had said no. Of course it'll be ruined. DUH JD.

Lack of consistency is a problem when parenting a young child but Kate is approaching 40 ? (can't remember her age) ffs

redshoeblueshoe · 19/07/2016 09:29

ppeat - it was not being surprised by the rug that got me Grin

Bertrand I was annoyed, constantly by her. But the rug was the last straw. Kate is the most spoilt narcissist - but who does the spoiling ?
Bloody everyone !
They all let her get away with murder
EVERY
SINGLE
TIME
I do not understand why they enable her atrocious behaviour, but the fact is that they do.
I am now hoping the rug gets ruined, the china gets broken and every other thing goes wrong.

Or maybe its the heat and I should just give myself a Biscuit

R4 · 19/07/2016 09:44

To be fair to the SW, it's nice to have a 'comedy'Hmm car-crash storyline that involves the UC instead of the mechanicals, for a change.

Is Kate the new Nigel? - dipsy and entitled, but unfortunately without Nigel's warmth and charm. I'm finding that this is a negative of being a long-time listener - you hear the same characters being reincarnated and it gets a bit formulaic.

ppeatfruit · 19/07/2016 09:53

I was looking for an emojji of a long cool drink for you redshoes consider one given because there ain't one Grin.

I do appreciate having a stone house with shutters and being retired in this weather Grin sorry Grin

redshoeblueshoe · 19/07/2016 10:40

Thanks ppeat Grin

TheAntiBoop · 19/07/2016 11:18

So Alice wants more money and more holiday? Don't we all!!!

JudyCoolibar · 19/07/2016 11:34

Kate was like this well before Nigel came on the scene so far as I remember, so I don't think we can claim she is a new version of him. She's inherently selfish, which is not something you could accuse Nigel of.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2016 12:21

Kate has been like this at least since she was in her early teens. She led a gang of teenagers who got up to all sorts of mischief, hanging out in Blossom Hill Cottage, which belonged to Peggy at the time. She married Jack Woolley and moved to the Lodge, leaving BCH empty for a while before she sold it to Usha.

Eventually she locked William Grundy in the attic, intending to leave him there overnight. Helen went back to rescue him.

It really is extraordinary that Kate gets away with so much, but I'm sure we all know people like that, sadly.

WipsGlitter · 19/07/2016 13:26

Honestly. Listening again and could just shake Pat. She is such a mug. Dancing to Rob's tune.

AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

JudyCoolibar · 19/07/2016 13:48

I do think Pat should be capable of working out that asking any favours of Rob is playing right into his hands.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 19/07/2016 14:10

Oh my god Pat is rubbish ... just listening now. Surely unless Rob has some kind of order which says Henry can't be taken out of the country, he can't stipulate this?

Stickerrocks · 19/07/2016 14:15

Why, oh why has it taken Pat so long to click?

MrsArthurShappey · 19/07/2016 15:03

I don't believe P&T would actually want to take Henry to Tenerife or wherever, surely they're far more likely to want a UK holiday. It's just yet another plot device for more Rob-dickishness.

BertrandRussell · 19/07/2016 15:06

"I don't believe P&T would actually want to take Henry to Tenerife or wherever, surely they're far more likely to want a UK holiday"

Why on earth do you think that?
