Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

I wonder if the school would give them any info or discuss Henry at all with them.
Ursula and Rob have been doing the pickup since before Helen was incarcerated. He has PR and Henry lives with him.

SaffyRosie · 15/06/2016 14:22

Yet more crappy lazy plots. The Grundy's messing up the house the day before Caroline and Oliver return - yeah right! God give me strength! They just pile on misfortune after misfortune. It is so unbelievable.

And why haven't we heard anything about them finding other places to live? What happened to moving into William's cottage - did I miss something? Wasn't there going to be a couple of months between C&O returning and the cottage being empty? And what is happy to Ed and Emmas and bambinos?

And Pat, going on about not swapping days with Rob, about making a stance. Why didn't Tony say that they should agree, no real skin off their noses, plus if they don't Rob will use it against them somewhere down the line. He should have said we don't want to piss off Rob in case he makes more trouble for Helen. I mean this is obvious stuff I'm writing, any person with half a brain cell could work it out which why it is so annoying that neither nor Tony say anything. But that is the shitty scriptwriters for you.

It seems that very little in TA is now realistic, it's seems to be going into cloud cuckoo land, all melodramatic shit. Reminds me of the crappy soap operas on TV.

Some about this rant but as you can tell I'm really rather cross.

Abraiid1 · 15/06/2016 14:54

Tony did say those things. He said they should be seen to be cooperating, to help Helen.

SaffyRosie · 15/06/2016 15:15

yes, but he wasn't forceful enough. He need to be firmer and persuade Pat. Nothing like real life. Should have reminded Pat how she fucked it all up before.

AugustaFinkNottle · 15/06/2016 15:59

I don't really understand why they can't just swap Saturday for Sunday, which seems to be the most obvious answer. If I were Pat or Tone I think I'd make use of it by saying something to the effect that, if they agree to be flexible, he has to agree to do the same and stop the stupid rubbish about them not being able to acknowledge Henry if they see him at village events or out and about in the village when it's not their "day".

redshoeblueshoe · 15/06/2016 16:03

Exactly Augusta. It seems to be getting more stupid by the day Angry

BitOutOfPractice · 15/06/2016 16:25

I'm still BOOP! Shock And so's my wife!

LIllian you are doing a great job of being the thread's Pollyanna

I couldn't really hear last night's in detail as my DP was selfishly cooking loudly or the repeat because a client selfishly called me so I'm a bit out of the boop Wink

Stickerrocks · 15/06/2016 17:21

Legal experts, please: Just because the courts are deciding who Henry can live with, does Rob have any right to prevent normal family interaction at public events etc? It's not as though Pat & Tony can only have supervised access and Tom & Johnny weren't even mentioned at the court hearing.

LyndaNotLinda · 15/06/2016 17:48

I know Augusta! They could pick Henwee up from school on Friday, have him overnight and all day Saturday.

Pat n Tone aren't usually quite this thick

nippiesweetie · 15/06/2016 18:12

Stickerrocks Not a legal expert but the only thing the court cares about is the child's best interest. It would not be in Henwee's best interest to be prevented from interacting with his grandparents at a public event. That is bizarre and the court would regard it as so.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/06/2016 19:05

ALICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good.

Gruach · 15/06/2016 19:06

Now seriously - why on earth would Brian have booked the holiday for during Phoebe's exams?Confused

BitOutOfPractice · 15/06/2016 19:08

Alice and Kate!!

BertrandRussell · 15/06/2016 19:09

Is that a new Kate?

Gruach · 15/06/2016 19:11

OMG. They're going to bring her back.

Shallishanti · 15/06/2016 19:14

haha, Rex is out manouvered

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/06/2016 19:19

No, it's not a new Kate (in any sense).

I don't suppose the Orient Express does that trip too many times a year. Brian probably didn't think about Phoebe's exams when he booked it. She needs to go to Willow Cottage, I'd say.

EsmesBees · 15/06/2016 19:19

How odd that this is the episode they bring back Alice and Kate. Instead of the weirdly family free anniversary party a couple of weeks back.

nippiesweetie · 15/06/2016 19:23

Again Lilian being updated on the Bridge Farm story. I wonder why this drip, drop, drip? Did she fail to help a friend in need in the past?

Gruach · 15/06/2016 19:44

I thought it was reasonable for Jenny to be updating Lilian on Bridge Farm events - though one would have expected her to know just as much as Jenny.

But how vast is Home Farm? How could Lilian not know which exam Phoebe had that morning?

Anyway. Things are going to get messy if Alice takes up robo-farming.

AugustaFinkNottle · 15/06/2016 20:25

Lillian was updating Jenny on Bridge Farm because they needed both of them in the episode anyway, and it enabled them to move the Helen story on slightly whilst not having to pay Pat and Tony as well.

GypsyFl0ss · 15/06/2016 20:25

If Debbie turns up I'll be totally convinced that time is running out for JennyDarling!

TheAntiBoop · 15/06/2016 20:50

Thanks Arthur. I thought I would try and hide my hurt in humour. Sob.

SaraTheFairy · 15/06/2016 22:47

I want to share, as I'm sure I am among friends who will understand my pride. Tonight, I had to sew another fekkin badge onto my daughter's brownie uniform. I decided to do it in the kitchen, whilst listening to The Archers. Daughter comes into kitchen with the craft thing she was doing. Sits and listens to episode and then asks "Mummy, can we listen to the podcast of last night's Archers" Grin.

R4 · 15/06/2016 22:51

Excellent indoctrination work Sara. All we need now is for the Brownies to introduce a TA badge.Grin
