Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

Hello and thanks for the new thread! Massive BOOP for Bert fixing the fence .

Do we know why Pip is always so mean about Josh? Snidey comments about his egg presentation etc?

Thanks for the new thread, pseudo - your 60th! StarArchersStarArchersStarArchersStarArchers

I agree that this thread will last to the Referendum, but I don't think it outlast the football (unless we sink to the level of apathy we had a year ago). That means we will hit the 60,000th post next month.

I think they're setting up Pip and Josh for some tedious sibling rivalry around the inheritance. There's a distinct air of her being jealous of any success Josh has, and hating him getting any of the limelight.

Interesting (and I'm probably hearing more than was in the scripts) that it was Toby who seemed to wake Pip up to the possibility of Josh being a serious rival ...

To be fair she has every reason to be worried. So far the farm has passed from father to son - and although she may expect her parent(s) to act in a 21st century manner, or at worst divide things equally, there's no guarantee.

I liked your depiction of yesterday's bucolic idyll Lil'G. But I seem to have lost the ability to relax into TA.

All crises are now resolved at Brookfield so sibling rivalry is the next obvious source of tension. I'm thinking that Josh is astute enough to have worked out that the farm won't divide three ways and is carving out his own empire.

I'm betting on Anna T and Dr Locke becoming an item but I have a dread that Rob will turn on the charm. I rather hope he'll try and she'll deliver a pithy put-down which will result in him showing his nastiness.

I fear that at some point it is inevitable that Toby will get his sticky mitts on Lily, thus setting up a new generation of Archer/Fairbrother trauma.

Oooh! That reminds me - I thought of someone for Anna. Robin (was that his name?) Fairbrother.

Rex has mentioned his dad recently. Don't know the state of play with his marriage but there's every possibility that he might turn up to take a look at the feeding and watering of his money. That could be fun. Although - no, they'd both be too new. There'd be no disruption (except to Elizabeth and Jill) within the village.

Although (again) Helen on remand for stabbing Rob has barely caused a flicker of anything so ...

There's another name-confusion. For a moment I thought you meant Toby and Lillian!

Thanks for the thread pseudo. The 60th is amazing Archers

Hurrah for Bert and Susan last week. Bright lights in the darkness.

Why oh why can't Anna just be Helen's barrister? But yes, I can see her being charmed by Rob, After all, everyone else in Ambridge seems to be. Angry. None of the other characters provide any dramatic interest and Anna as a catalyst in another SL would be overkill.

can someone please give me a very very short precis on what happened last week..i usually listen to omnibus but had guests ( humph ...who spent whole sunday expecting me to interact with them instead of locking myself in kitchen with radio) and now at work and no time for catch up all week and then i will be 2 weeks behind and will have to leave thread and ...and ... and...i think i am suffering some kind of archers induced panic attack. APA syndrome, as a new sufferer is it common ? do otheres feel like this ?

I am pleased that now when TA is on, I can tune out. It all got so silly and even amidst this chaos, no-one really seems to be able to make sense of what's going on, even on this venerable thread. It's just not fun any more.

Just listened. I thought carol and Jill showed a lack of sympathy for rob. So that's promising

Is there any significance to carol tripping over the stone?

Is it just me or is the storyline with the Grundys and Caroline & hubby (his name escapes me ) coming name a pile of pants.

Caroline & hubby would have given the Grundys a couple of months notice to quit. Can't understand how they have come back and are staying in a very expensive hotel. It always sounds like the Grundy's never name a date when Caroline & hubby have told them to be out by. It's all rather vague and that's not how it works in the real world.

theredjellybean - just noticed you said vv short so

Lillian and Justin are glowing after a weekend in the Peaks

Helen is told Rob wants custody of Jack and has to appear at the hearing. She is befriended by a fellow inmate.

The bypass will take Route C and Ambridge is spared.

Bert is a darling and saves Lynda's garden opening.

Carole T breaks her arm in Lynda's garden.

RockNRollNerd · 13/06/2016 15:52

thered you need better guests! Grin.

Umm - it wasn't a hugely memorable week. Lynda had a drama about needing a fence put up for insurance purposes - so now we know she has insurance when SHLL sues her on behalf of her mum. Route B was killed off. Lillian told Toby his website/video was shit and Justin won't use them if that's what they produce.

EBearhug · 13/06/2016 15:57

But the open gardens and picnic was proper Archers.

I don't think Jill or Carol were ever fully signed up Rob team members.

Report
AugustaFinkNottle · 13/06/2016 15:59

I doubt there's any significance in Carol's accident above providing (a) an excuse to bring Anna into the village and (b) it being supposed to be in some way humorous that the Resurgam stone Lynda kept going on about has caused the accident.

Did they say Rob's arm is still in a sling? Strange how the Ambridge health fairy has totally passed him by.

carol was one of the few people not to be dazzled by Knob. She said several times that she didn't like him, that there was something about him that creeped her out etc
