Great aside from the CA there! He was telling us about all the stuff on the BBC website backing up some programmes coming up about dystopias, including 'Could you live in a dystopian society?'

'.. and that brings us neatly on to The Archers...' he said. Beautiful timing.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 27/05/2016 19:08

Awwwwwww

theDudesmummy · 27/05/2016 19:16

Yes Helen at last you seem to be pulling yourself together.

GypsyFl0ss · 27/05/2016 19:16

Ooohhh I said she'd call him that! I did also suggest Jonathan on the other thread too.

IggyPopsicle · 27/05/2016 19:16

Excellent!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/05/2016 19:17

OK, bets as to who gets to the Registrar first? Can whoever comes second mount a legal challenge?

GypsyFl0ss · 27/05/2016 19:17

'Cos I was covering all bases!

Lilymaid · 27/05/2016 19:18

Great name John Anthony Archer (aka Jack) ... Send Gideon back to the Ticheners!

theDudesmummy · 27/05/2016 19:19

Turning point

GypsyFl0ss · 27/05/2016 19:19

I'm going to phone our local office on Monday to find out what the father would need to register by himself .

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 27/05/2016 19:20

That awww was for Jazzer and piggy reunion not JAA/GRT.

Shallishanti · 27/05/2016 19:20

what happened at the beginning???

IggyPopsicle · 27/05/2016 19:21

I found this helpful nugget of information on the NCT website:
"When officially registering and legally naming the baby, mums have overall choice. Whether or not they are married to their partner, dads are unable to insist on any part of the name at all."

www.nct.org.uk/parenting/registering-birth

Limelight · 27/05/2016 19:22

So I'm sure this has been talked about, but how does the law around registration work? Is it possible that Knob will already have registered the baby's name by the time the registrar turns up at the mother and baby unit?

Limelight · 27/05/2016 19:23

Crossed posts!

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/05/2016 19:24

Mystic Bore predicted Jack

As did several others Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/05/2016 19:25

I'm way ahead of you there, Gypsy - I was looking online earlier this week trying to find this out. The law is designed for normal situations where the mother is recovering and trusts the father to make the trip to the registrar and get the agreed name onto the birth certificate. As we do hear of situations where the father wets the baby's head on the way or loses the slip of paper or just decides to deviate from the agreement, with the consequence that the baby doesn't get the name the mother was expecting, I'm not sure Helen would be able to prevent him registering the baby first. If I've got this right, all he needs is the date, time and place of the birth, his and Helen's names, the marriage certificate and a few other things he will definitely have. Sad He doesn't even need to go to the registry office for the district where the birth took place. He can go to Borchester and the registrar there will send the details on. He could easily have done that this week. I don't think the registrar would be under any obligation to let Helen know that Rob wanted to register the birth before going ahead.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/05/2016 19:28

Oh, re Aldridge predilection for redheads - Jennydarling had a fling with Paddy Redmond, the redhaired cowman, when she was young and single. The fruit of this union was Adam, who also has red hair!

He doesn't sound redhaired though.

Vango · 27/05/2016 19:29

Can I also claim half a point for Jack on the other thread please 😳.

And fabulous episode from Mary Cutler. More script writing from her please. Loved all of it.

GypsyFl0ss · 27/05/2016 19:29

I'm really hoping that Knob will assume he has time and right in his side and won't have beaten her to it. I want this baby to be firmly named Jack Archer and that's it.

GypsyFl0ss · 27/05/2016 19:31

The Adam in my head is blonde. As was Charlie. As is Alice. And Lils although hers is from a bottle . None of them are redheads in my head except maybe Caro who might be auburnish.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 27/05/2016 19:32

Do you think it's a turning point? Please let it be. Helens name choice beaten by Knob and then all hell breaks loose. She finally gets a grip (please get a grip)
A half decent episode. I really want the others to join in on the Helrob story. In my family/village it would be THE only conversation

Limelight · 27/05/2016 19:33

Gypsy and Gasp - it says on the NCT link below that the baby has to be registered in the area they were born. So unless he's travelled nearer to her...

Gumpendorf · 27/05/2016 19:34

I liked that episode. I hope it was a turning point away from the misery we've had thrown at us since Easter.

If Rob registers Gideon Robert Titchener in Borsetshire and Helen registers John Anthony Archer in MBUville, will the system notice and when it does what will it do?

Can Helen exclude Rob from the birth certificate? The guidance says if married both parents can be included on the certificate. It doesn't say they must be.
