I've just browsed Lowfield for the first time - they really don't like Pat do they!

Tbf his management did largely consist of deciding which field they went in next.
Although presumably 'getting rid' of the pigs is actually a lot of work. Paperwork for transporting them etc.

Pip pg I did think that but did she and M dtd? She could start a MN thread about it.

Goodness yes, someone else will have to be pregnant now, won't they? Unproblematically. Could be Alice. Emma would be nice. Nic has been abandoned but they have four already. Kate? Amy surely deserves a story now. Kirsty? Fallon? Lily!? (Anyone except ...)

Actually, no one's engaged atm. That might bring a breath of fresh air too.

BYOSnowman · 26/05/2016 16:46

Alice with pnd would be an excellent sl. Makes the point that it is not circumstance (Helen) that causes it

FabFiveFreddie · 26/05/2016 16:50

IRL, someone facing an attempted murder charge would be ALL anyone would think and talk about in a small place like Ambridge. Yes life has to go on but NOBODY is talking about it. It's like it never happened. And she's a bloody Archer, too! You don't make an attempted murder happen in a soap opera and then pretend like nothing happened. There's more scheming going on right now to get Jazzer back to the pigs than to get Helen out of prison!

I feel like SOC is toying with the audience, titillating and sucking in but not giving enough back (apols for the rather suggestive overtones). It doesn't make me want to hold out for more. Frankly, it's a real turn off - maybe literally, actually. It's so bloody arrogant.

Gumpendorf · 26/05/2016 19:10

'Everyone is saying people in Ambridge would be talking about Helen, so let's shoehorn in a mention and move on quickly.' Job done so very badly

EBearhug · 26/05/2016 19:14

Although presumably 'getting rid' of the pigs is actually a lot of work. Paperwork for transporting them etc.

Yes - my father got out of pigs in 1980, partly because of the paperwork. I very much doubt it's improved in the past 36 years, given that cattle and so on need passports these days.

GypsyFl0ss · 26/05/2016 19:16

Bloody hell if I was Jenny I'd be very, very afraid.

EBearhug · 26/05/2016 19:19

Most conversations would at least start with, "any news on Helen? How are they at Bridge Farm?" even if they then moved on to pastures beef or herbal leys or eggs or Phoebe'so or Josh's A-levels or Wayne's non-existent girlfriend or something.

Is this Freddie 'n' Lily's GCSES year?

Gruach · 26/05/2016 19:19

Watery death?Grin

GypsyFl0ss · 26/05/2016 19:29

Massive stroke leaving Lils as her carer. Would be interesting to see how Brine handled that.

R4 · 26/05/2016 19:37

I hope JD survives long enough to see Feebs at Oxford.

Vango · 26/05/2016 19:39

Good point Ebearhug! F & L were 16 last December. Very quiet on the revision front. Odd that David and Elizabeth have never even alluded to it.

And they'd better not TOUCH Jenny!

Minimammoth · 26/05/2016 21:16

Do you think that Ambridge is a menopause free zone?

EBearhug · 26/05/2016 21:26

Do you think that Ambridge is a menopause free zone?

No - Lynda and ... possibly Jenny, but really can't remember who - once had a discussion about some sort of seedcake that was good for symptoms. That's been about the only mention, mind you.

shinynewusername · 26/05/2016 21:33

Do you think that Ambridge is a menopause free zone?

Though there was a great exchange between JD and Fag-Ash Lil when Lilian first moved into Home Farm. Something along the lines of:

JD: Brian's grumbling about living in a household of women. He muttered something about our cycles syncing. I told him that, at our age, all that will be syncing is our phones.

Both:

EBearhug · 26/05/2016 21:38

A brief google also round Lynda talking to Vicky about the menopause (think I'd probably blanked it from my memory, because the discussion centred around their sex lives, according to Lowfield.)

Also Usha mentioning the menopause and HRT when she was talking to Ruth when Ruth was last pregnant.

Gruach · 26/05/2016 23:17

Regarding GCSEs - I'm fairly sure Elizabeth mentioned Frilly taking mocks earlier this year. And later on that it was difficult to get one or both to revise. She was probably talking to either David or Doc Locke.

Minimammoth · 27/05/2016 06:30

I bow to the great collective thread memory re menopause.

NotdeadyetBOING · 27/05/2016 08:39

I am deeply bored with all this elves business.

PLEASE can we have an Ian update?!!!

BitOutOfPractice · 27/05/2016 09:36

The elf story is distinctly odd isnt it? I'm puzzled by it

AugustaFinkNottle · 27/05/2016 10:02

I think my brain must automatically switch off at various points when they talk about elves, as I find myself increasingly bewildered as to what the hell that story is all about. And I really don't care enough to find out.

birdsdestiny · 27/05/2016 10:11

I think it's meant to be light relief alongside the helenrob saga. It may even be their attempt at ' you see we haven't forgotten the old listeners in our quest for ratings, we can still do gentle storylines'. I prefer pat wailing to the elves storyline which is saying something.

LillianGish · 27/05/2016 10:12

The elves remind me very much of the elf houses in Furzey Gardens, Hampshire, so there is obviously money to be made out of them (maybe they can somehow relocate to Bert's garden so he can out- do Lynda with visitor numbers?I wonder if the elf eviction will coincide with another Grundy eviction.

LillianGish · 27/05/2016 10:20

Here they are

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/05/2016 10:22

Ah yes, the menopause cake. I have a vague memory of someone (Jill?) baking one and then one of the men - possibly a Grundy - eating some before realising that is was a special cake for special wimmin.

Such hilarity.

Agree re: tedious elves.
