I've just browsed Lowfield for the first time - they really don't like Pat do they!

Didn't even hey have the road decision at the end of yesterday's? I'd glazed over a bit by then

BYOSnowman · 07/06/2016 18:43

Well maybe it will be an episode of the Brookfield archers angsting

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2016 19:05

grr. hoping that soc is not planning to kill off all the village with roads etc.

Shallishanti · 07/06/2016 19:11

Ambridge is saved!

BertrandRussell · 07/06/2016 19:13

All the missing people are appearing in the pub " Oh, look, there's Nelson Gabriel! And Nigel! He was wearing a parachute after all!!"

If only..... Sad

That was clunky, wasn't it? A real Archers episode in a sense, but I do miss Home Farm when we get a lot of undiluted Brookfield.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/06/2016 19:25

Still, 18,000 episodes is no small achievement. You may not know or care but TA is the longest running soap opera in any medium anywhere in the world. There was a US soap called Guiding Light that started on radio in 1937, transferred to TV in 1952 and ran till 2009. That leaves TA triumphantly in the lead. Here's a clip from 1955 (yes, it's that episode): www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0168wd7

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2016 19:29

I hope that the new editor will grease the mechanism and make it run smoothly with more subtlty and reinstate the complexities of characters and stop with the plot devices (as if shula would miss the single wicket unless an emergency. )

BYOSnowman · 07/06/2016 19:34

It's like they were reminded that they hadn't tied up the road story. As the point of the road was to give us the totally not full of suspense Brookfield move so I guess they didn't have much oomph to give it a good end

Gruach · 07/06/2016 19:36

Oh well - here's a Wine for the poor, persevering actors.

How long till the 20,000th?Grin

AugustaFinkNottle · 07/06/2016 19:38

What I wanted was some sort of acknowledgement from the Dopeys that it was always bloody ridiculous making decisions to sell up so long ago, and that they would have felt right idiots if they'd uprooted themselves to Prudhoe with Heatherpet in her grave and no road through Brookfield.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2016 19:42

I really hope that carol will drop some clues to anna. carol was never a rob fan. I wonder if jill and peggy will get to speak to anna. or fallon. making comments about him collecting her from the cafe when she tried to meet her friends.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2016 19:44

there was no comment fromn david about dropping ruth in it either... he decided... what about ruth? grr

BitOutOfPractice · 07/06/2016 19:54

Oh god. That had not one shred of booposity about it. At all.

A little part of me died during David's "rabble rousing"

BYOSnowman · 07/06/2016 20:01

If BOOP doesn't think there was any BOOP we really have reached a low haven't we?

OhTheRoses · 07/06/2016 20:06

Crumbs, what happened to the David who got a Ford Escort, something flash, for his 21st. Eddie hated him for that.

Gruach · 07/06/2016 20:11

BOOP - are you sure you're not coming down with something? You don't seem quite yourself ...

(Slightly evilGrin)

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2016 20:18

not even the hope of carol and anna getting together for tea?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/06/2016 20:29

Come on, everyone! SOC is on his way out of the door. Soon we will have a wonderful new editor and everything will be great again!

[yes, a little wine has been taken]

cheminotte · 07/06/2016 21:27

Love your optimism GTWD

Marilynsbigsister · 07/06/2016 21:40

Please please please... 47 yrs until 6 weeks ago. Please new editor, buy a new archivist. (Pick someone from this board who actually knows the characters) stop the plot driven rather than character driven story lines.... Shula would NEVER be left out of the single wicket episode....

LowDudgeon · 07/06/2016 22:05

I just read the Lowfield summary of today's epi

My only reaction was ODFOD (SOC, that is)

(Well, my actual, literal first reaction was "fuck off". I tidied it up. Hmm)

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2016 22:13

we shall indeed hang out the bunting Archers Archers Archers when he leaves. let's hope that the new person is better at characters.
