And so it continues. We still have one long-term prediction from the start of the last thread that has not yet come to pass - the burning down of Lower Loxley.

But there is still time...

Blimey, there's a media pack for Trial week.

Gruach · 29/08/2016 13:13

Thanks!

Have just read it. All seventeen pages.

Can the BBC usually rely on media representatives putting in so much research?

JudyCoolibar · 29/08/2016 14:11

I think it's a shame they're aiming to cover the whole thing in a week. With only 13 minutes a day to play with, that doesn't really give much time to do it justice, and I strongly suspect the trial would take longer than a week - especially given the need (I assume) for breaks for Jack to be fed.

Gruach · 30/08/2016 08:35

Someone else has already mentioned it but my brain works slowly - the deeply moving stuff must surely be Henry telling the truth as Rob has relentlessly instructed him to do. How sad his mother has been; how he was never frightened by her, etc.

There must be some good coming from his CAFCASS interview?

Gumpendorf · 30/08/2016 09:53

Weirdly, Gruach, I was also thinking about Henry and the trial this morning. I'm still holding to the 'I'll look after you, Mummy' comment. It can't just have been an emotional tug phrase. It must have some meaning.

In the trailer for the trial, Helen says she doesn't know what was real about that night. And the surgeon is quoted in the media pack and is in the cast for next week. I was also thinking that Rob's wounds may be revealing too - maybe not where they should be for the scenario. Was Henry involved after all?

I'm also thinking we think deeply about these things and SOC director and editor doesn't. I fear we are going to be hugely disappointed. I hope I am wrong.

TOTAL TV GUIDE 3 - 9 SEPTEMBER 2016

With Helen in court, the Archers fear she may crumble in the face of tough questioning and Anna has her work cut out to keep her client focused.

Rob gives his version of events to the jury, but there's a flicker of uncertainty under cross examination.

Ursula locks horns with Pat, who attempts to defend her daughter and worries she didn't do enough to support her. Kirsty is determined to give her friend's case a boost when it is her turn to take the stand, but she's in for a bumpy ride.

Bruce Titchener is growing more impatient by the minute.

Ian gets a rise out of Rob.

I was in two minds whether to post the RT preview which is a bit of a joke. RADIO TIMES 3 - 9 SEPTEMBER 2016

It's on. The trial of the Ambridge One. (Susan Carter being reluctant to defend her prior claim to the title)

And so we must to some extent park our current concerns. Such as - is George Grundy really interested in reading books? Is dishy doc Richard going to help Elizabeth reclaim her former position position as Little Miss Knickers?

Instead, the nation's laybys will be stacking up as drivers pull over, the better to take in Regina v Helen Titchener, aka Rob v Helen. The bookies are currently offering odds on the verdict that won't make anyone rich either way.

So is anyone interested in a side bet? Namely, which of these two powder kegs is going to blow first?

Writer: Tim Stimpson (who also wrote the Stab week episodes)
SOC is directing as well as editing (also as per stabweek)

enochroot · 30/08/2016 17:44

I'm still holding to the 'I'll look after you, Mummy' comment. It can't just have been an emotional tug phrase. It must have some meaning.

And I recall Rob extracting a promise from Helen to stick by him no matter what. I doubt if she will now and I think the SWs were at the time expecting a fairly imminent comeuppance for the SAB, the culvert or whatever was going when that bit was written.
I do think Henry's contribution will be pivotal though.

Stickerrocks · 31/08/2016 08:22

Does anyone have the chance to question Henry (appropriately) after watching his video statement?

lotsofdogshere · 31/08/2016 09:13

Stickerrocks - Henry is at the very outside young age to be a witness in a criminal trial. Yes he can be cross examined and I've known little one's of 7 break down when accused of lying about what x did to them. It isn't unknown for children to retract their original statement because the court didn't believe them only to resurrect it when they hit their teens.

The Judge and Barristers remove their wigs n gowns, everyone is supposed to stop speaking in legalise. Preparation for child witnesses by use of a mock up court etc is not allowed, or it wasn't 4 years ago. I've always felt children can and should be prepared for the court process but it's been viewed as coaching. Rob could teach them a thing or two about that couldn't he.

MrsArthurShappey · 31/08/2016 10:20

lots Sad

BlackeyedSusan · 31/08/2016 14:40

there will ba a lot of swearing at the radio.

Stickerrocks · 31/08/2016 21:48

Thanks lots. I predict that Henry will say exactly what he has been coached to say & that everyone will forget that Henry lived with Pat & Tony, his blood relatives, for far longer than he lived with Rob in his residency hearing when Helen is convicted the following week.

Gruach · 02/09/2016 12:54

Of course the other event that, in common parlance, is generally referred to as "deeply moving" is death.

So I may still keep my fingers crossed for some fatal end to Rob's hideousness ...

Gumpendorf · 03/09/2016 12:05

Gumpendorf · 03/09/2016 12:10

Is Usha evicting Rob? hurrah
Ian's makes a quick exit (from court presumably), then his ears are burning and then he has had enough. The feud with Rob continuing?

Otherwise no real clues to the court outcome - which is really what I want to know.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/09/2016 17:06

me too.

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/09/2016 18:05

I do so hope the unexpected guest is Knob, slung out on his ear by Usha (yay! she hasn't been heard from for ages)

OP posts:
Gruach · 03/09/2016 18:10

Yes - I'm looking forward to Usha being allowed to do something other than nod sympathetically at Ruth.

Though I doubt she'd be able to get him out in a matter of days.

Mootsie · 03/09/2016 20:33

Maybe the unexpected guest will be Charlie, re-instated by Justin who is eating huge amounts of humble pie.

Eastpoint · 03/09/2016 23:53

For Sept 19 I misread JD is apologetic for JD is apoplectic.

TheAntiBoop · 04/09/2016 08:41

Well those spoilers look like it will be a very rob heavy few weeks.

Gumpendorf · 04/09/2016 09:10

But Rob on a downward slide, AntiBoop?
His behaviour will be exposed at the trial - even if Helen is convicted of wounding which I suspect she might be.

enochroot · 04/09/2016 13:41

I've just predicted a similar outcome on the other thread.
At the very least, a lot of bad stuff about Rob is going to come out at the trial. It should be enough to make the powers that be doubt his suitability to have the children reside with him.

chillipopcorn1 · 04/09/2016 18:46

I think outcome at trial is certainly that Helen goes down, but for wounding, and Rob loses residency of the children - Pat will be full of questions about what the sentence will be for wounding as opposed to attempted murder, Tony will be shouting in court at the injustice. Then Rob will tell Henry he loves him before Henry is moved out of BH cottage and back to PatnTony's. Can't wait for tonight!

Gumpendorf · 04/09/2016 19:32

That was my scenario too, chilli. Smile
