And so it continues. We still have one long-term prediction from the start of the last thread that has not yet come to pass - the burning down of Lower Loxley.

But there is still time...

Ready for next week's Radio Times?

10 - 16 September
Only in The Archers could a legal drama hinge on evidence about the day someone was attacked by a bull. So prepare yourself for recollections of that fateful Tony v Otto encounter from 2014 as Pat is questioned at the family court hearing. Will it have a bearing on who gets to look after Henry & Jack?

At Grange Farm, Eddie is packing up. With their move date almost upon them, Joe's spirits sink to a new low. Can't Oliver and Caroline just let him have a small annexe? All he needs are some ferrets and the odd glass of cider. He's very low maintenance. And Josh gets an eyeful when he goes in search of his phone charger at Rickyard Cottage. Will word of Pip's romance spread?

So that's it then, no escape for Helen. She must be found guilty of something for Pat & Tony to still be trying to get custody, rather than Helen & Rob facing each other to keep the boys. Presumably Rob has said that Bridge farm is an unsafe environment for Henry to be brought up, given that Henry had agitated Otto in the past. Pat has been incapable of stringing together a coherent argument for months. There would have been no point in introducing a nanny if she wasn't needed. Welcome home Gideon.

Gruach · 06/09/2016 09:59

SadSadSad

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/09/2016 11:29

I'm sure H will be found not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of the wounding charge, so a shorter sentence, with subsequent appeal.

Something will happen at the eleventh hour (Knob getting hot and heavy with nanny?)

At some stage, surely Knob has to be charged with coercive control, otherwise what was the point of the whole s/l?

OP posts:
Gruach · 06/09/2016 11:40

Indeed ...

Gumpendorf · 06/09/2016 11:45

Thanks Stickerrocks clutches at straws

Could this be misdirection? The residency options being Rob, Helen or PatnTone; the latter are insurance against the children being fostered given the trial might reveal neither Helen nor Rob as safe parents at this stage. Or maybe just between Rob and PatnTone because effectively Helen will be homeless?

Otherwise, what is the point of the trial and the fanfare? It resolves nothing other than bringing Jack out of the MBU into an identity crisis. Rob has the children, Usha wouldn't evict the boys and the merry go round continues for a little while longer. Maybe that's the reason for Rob's new job and Charlotte. It gives Rob more rope, with more villagers watching his every move. I predict a lot of Angry listeners....

TheAntiBoop · 06/09/2016 13:22

Yay! The victim has been made the criminal. No matter what happens to rob this has been a massive blunder

Stickerrocks · 06/09/2016 14:03

My prediction:

Helen will be jailed for wounding with intent.

Pat n Tone will not receive custody of the boys, because they put Henry in danger at the farm and Henry has been coached/bribed by Rob to say he wants to stay with daddy.

Rob will have the support of the nanny during the day, but Gideon will give him sleepless nights, especially after he is taken from Helen. An exhausted Rob will turn on Henry when he plays noisily and wakes the baby. He snaps and hits Henry. Henry tells the Nanny, who confides in Fallon, who tells Harrison. Helen and the boys are reunited in time for Christmas at Bridge Farm.

Or, alternatively, we can all just keep shouting at the radio everytime the evil one speaks.

Gumpendorf · 06/09/2016 14:04

With thanks to MustardLand

TOTAL TV GUiDE 10 - 16 SEPT 2016

The fall-out from Helen's trial is taking a toll on Pat, whose relationship with Rob is worse than ever. Things aren't much better back at Blossom Hill Cottage. With the family court hearing under way, Helen is convinced she's damaged Henry.

Ian's reeling from recent developments.

At Grange Farm the Grundys are packing up, sending Joe into a downward spiral. Caroline is keen to move forward with Italian plans, but Oliver is worried how the upheaval will affect his 94 year old tenant.

Josh gets more than he bargained for at Rickyard Cottage .....

And I think my straws are unclutched. totally agree, Antiboop [anger]

Stickerrocks · 06/09/2016 14:08

Thanks Gumpendorf. It doesn't look hopeful.

Mootsie · 06/09/2016 14:21

I'm pinning my hopes on Charlotte being a red herring as Rob won't be needing a nanny after all.

Why would Ian be reeling?

I'm wishing my life away reading these spoilers.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/09/2016 15:50

Ah, I was wondering about the Ian makes a swift exit bit.

I think Knob will make sure all of Adam's philanderings are brought out when In gives his evidence.

This also ties in with the bit about Jennifer being apologetic (for blabbing about Adam's predilection for priapic pickers).

Soooo, I think it is Ian who is the unexpected guest at TB, when he Leaves The Bastard.

OP posts:
Gumpendorf · 06/09/2016 16:33

Of course, BoW. That information will be used to discredit Ian's character. It's still all going Rob's way isn't it. Bangs head against wall

JudyCoolibar · 06/09/2016 17:49

But Knob has given his evidence, and he doesn't control how the prosecution cross-examine Ian. Though, yet again, SOC may not let technicalities like that get in the way of a bit of drama.

I didn't realise they planned to have the Family Court hearing so soon after the trial. I suspect in RL they'd have built in a gap so that everyone could take stock and they could deal with practicalities like Helen's transfer to another prison or her release - probably SOC wanted to squeeze all the drama in before he goes.

Vango · 06/09/2016 20:19

I'm hoping that Helen is the unexpected guest at The Bull

GertrudeBelle · 06/09/2016 22:48

Delurking with an optimistic interpretation...

Presumably if Helen was released:

(a) there would still be a custody battle; and
(B) she'd move in with Pat'n'Tone. So the safety of their residence, and their childcaring skills, would still be highly relevant to the question of which would is the most suitable home for him?

In which case the RT spoilers don't necessarily indicate that she will be convicted (or receive a further custodial sentence)...

GertrudeBelle · 06/09/2016 22:52

Also note that the RT says "Will it have a bearing on who gets to look after Henry & Jack" rather than "Will it have a bearing on whether they [ie Pat'n'Tone] get to look after Henry & Jack".

The sentence is wide open...

JudyCoolibar · 06/09/2016 23:15

Actually, if they're talking about Henry and Jack as a unit, is that a hopeful sign? I would have thought that even if Helen is convicted of everything she's accused of Jack would stay with her at least for now as he's breastfed.

Shula involved tomorrow - maybe on the basis that her evidence of Rob's temper and violent tendencies has now become more relevant?

I do hope Rob's letter is Justin withdrawing the job.

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/09/2016 13:12

Oh god, tonight "Pat is determined to show her support"

OP posts:
JudyCoolibar · 07/09/2016 14:34

If that means more Paterwauling from the gallery my radio may not survive.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/09/2016 12:58

Looks like next week is SOC'S LAST:

From BBC site
Week ending

WOOP WOOP WOOP!!!

and indeed

BOOP BOOP BOOP!!!

*Alison Hindell is BBC Head of Drama, so presumably keeping seat warm for new editor

OP posts:
JudyCoolibar · 08/09/2016 13:04

Yayyyyyy!

I'm quite surprised he was prepared to let go before the family court hearing, though.

ibrowze · 08/09/2016 13:06

Bore happy days! However, do we know next editors are not committed to his 'vision'?

Vango · 08/09/2016 13:06

Thanks Bore!

JudyCoolibar · 08/09/2016 13:06

Pat was determined to show her support last night, so that bit's over with for now. Ian and Shula tonight - not sure I want to hear Rob pouring in the poison about Adam and I have a nasty feeling that's what's going to happen.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/09/2016 13:07

So, since they are recorded in advance, presumably this means he's already gne? Grin

He will be hanging around to milk all the plaudits though.
