New thread for tonight's episode.

Do you like the decor then? My 'personal' assistant did it.

I shall strangle Pat if she carries on that wailing.

Then I shall plead not guilty as it was self defence of my ears and brain.

Boomingmarvellous · 06/05/2016 10:15

What annoyed me about hellins supposition that pleading guilty would mean a shorter sentence was that no one pointed out the bleeding obvious fact that on release Hellin would never get custody of henwee or the baby as a convicted violent offender.

ppeatfruit · 06/05/2016 10:42

And no one (I'm looking the barrister here) pointed out that she was pleading SELF DEFENCE because the 'victim' was threatening Henry. I noticed that the prosecution said that Henry said 'Mummy stabbed Daddy" Did no one ask him effing WHY? Maybe a 5 yr old would be too upset to answer. In that case why quote the child at all????

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/05/2016 11:45

The whole storyline has collapsed into a steaming heap of ordure. Feedback returns next week. I feel a long missive coming on.

ArgyMargy, there's nothing I would like more! There would be a long, soothing run of very ordinary village stuff happening. Each episode would end with a cliffhanger, naturally, but they would be more like this:

Jill: Oh dear! I think that fruitcake's a little too brown on top. What can I serve at the WI tea now? [dum di dum di dum di dum]

or

Bert: If Oi can't get on top of this slug problem, moi garden's never going to be ready in time for the Grand Opening - and then what will I say to moi Freda?

It would be bliss. Grin

Something that did appeal:

Lynda's Font of choice for RESURGAM

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/05/2016 11:53

Aha! That makes sense of Joe saying the lettering was all skeewiff. Grin

DadDadDad · 06/05/2016 12:00

Olivia - if you're still reading, are we to take it that the whole emoticon idea is not happening? If it's a dead duck, it just would be nice to know.

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 06/05/2016 12:08

@DadDadDad

Olivia - if you're still reading, are we to take it that the whole emoticon idea is not happening? If it's a dead duck, it just would be nice to know.

Don't think the duck is dead yet - important stuff (like vexatious ads etc) takes priority over fun stuff like this, that's all - will chase and let youse know asap.

ppeatfruit · 06/05/2016 12:47

Thanks for the lettering information Olivia It would be by someone who was influenced by Eric Gill ; now there was a DIM if ever there was one.

DadDadDad · 06/05/2016 13:06

Thanks, Olivia, I completely appreciate this is a bit of fluffery on top of important MN stuff, so I'll cling to that little chink of hope that it might happen one day... Grin

Gruach · 06/05/2016 13:09

That lettering is so beautiful.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 06/05/2016 13:23

DIM?

ppeatfruit · 06/05/2016 13:28

Oh silly me Blush Smalllegs I meant DOM Dirty Old Man.

trevortrevorslatterfry · 06/05/2016 13:30

Olivia hurrah for "yous(e)" Grin - I was defending it on another thread last week!

Lovely lettering Smile

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 06/05/2016 13:40

^ I can only presume from what I know of Gill, his art notwithstanding, that it's not complimentary?

kesstrel · 06/05/2016 13:56

These threads are brilliant, so entertaining. I too have given up listening (a week ago), and am instead relying on these threads for information. I am concerned, however, that as the misery drags on, the number of self-sacrificing volunteers who are willing to listen and then report back may dwindle to zero....

GypsyFl0ss · 06/05/2016 14:14

Just having the misfortune of listening again. Arghhhh.

ppeatfruit · 06/05/2016 14:18

No I wasn't specifically referring to his art which can be excused because of course it's ART innit? His private life was vile.

kestrel As one of those 'self sacrificing volunteers' I can only listen BEFORE I read this thread because I like to get an objective view, this thread can be more miserable than TA sometimes Grin

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 06/05/2016 14:42

X posted. His private life would make Knob look like a lovely chap in comparison.

ppeatfruit · 06/05/2016 14:55

Yes exactly Shock

theredjellybean · 06/05/2016 15:27

please someone get a legal advisor on the bloody programme...

surely surely surely that if Pat was asked to go and have a chat with police, they would have to explain to her that she would be witnessto prosecution.

I am not a lawyer and am baffled at the whole legal / police investigation aspect ...surely they would have been questioning hellin more....surely her lawyer would ahve got another psyche review by now...the whole thing has become so stupid , and i was so vocal about what an excellent storyline it was ...how my teenager and her friends were all listening and how education it was for them to see that being coerced and controlled is not about a man 'loving you so much'

now i am just irritated

enochroot · 06/05/2016 16:04

What annoyed me most is that Pat seems to have thought that she could just go to the police and explain Helen's side of the story as if that was going to make it all OK again. She knows no more than anyone else about what happened and has barely scratched the surface of what has been going on for months.

I see the prosecution is already making something of Helen's refusal to answer questions.

It's the sheer messiness of it all that is irritating me.

Vaara · 06/05/2016 18:55

Please God no more from Pat tonight....

DoesFlossfloss · 06/05/2016 19:04

I'd rather have Rob and Ursula. There - I said it!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 06/05/2016 19:21

They seem to be a bit confused about what being on remand entails too. Tom seemed to be implying they don't know when they can visit etc. But she is allowed 3 visits a week. And can she not make phonecalls too?
She can also get private healthcare if she wants to pay for it.

As gor Lynda / Eddie - I thought that was a bit rude when she said "is there a reason for that?" About Eddie's finances. Lynda isn't usually so indelicate.

But I did enjoy the image of Eddie wuth the hideous squirrel.
