I do hope Lynda has a carbon monoxide monitor in there...

We know what happened (even if the stabbing itself was not entirely clear the abuse running up to it over months and months was) - we also know all about Knob's other behaviour for all the time he has been in Ambridge. Others (including and especially Pat and Tony) only know what they've been told - which is not much. Even Kirsty is not clear about the extent of the abuse - she just has a hunch. And Helen is saying nothing to anyone. Kirsty does however know Hellin had spoken to Jess - she holds the key (although she will only be able to testify about Knob's behaviour towards her - Helen did tell her "He's started on Henry") Not really sure what the point of my post is - I just wanted to get it clear in my head. I think it makes you realise how very, very difficult something like coercive control is to prove if it goes on for years before you speak out especially when the pepetrator is someone as manipulative as Knob. Whatever Hellin says he will twist round to suit his own ends.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 20/04/2016 13:59

I would expect sw to be involved with H yes.

But no they wouldn't stop him seeing Rob.
Even if they knew he was abusive they are still unlikely to stop contact (plenty of abusive parents still see their dc in rl)

stealthsquiggle · 20/04/2016 14:05

For the first time ever, I have deliberately switched off the radio for the archers. I normally only hear the 2pm repeat, but happened to hear it last night and don't think I could stand hearing that episode again.

Stickerrocks · 20/04/2016 14:23

Did anyone else notice Ursula referring to Henry as "the child"? He's going to be treated like the modern day equivalent of Jane Eyre at this rate as soon as he goes home to Daddy & Grandma Ursula.

EBearhug · 20/04/2016 14:34

Fairly sure she's talked about "the child" before, though I have no intention of going back through past episodes to verify this.

ppeatfruit · 20/04/2016 15:06

Notice that dear Arse has not said to knob " Well darling what was going on to make Hell stab and throw a bowl of custard at you?"

"Had you criticised her no egg custard?" It wouldn't come off the floor easily I knew it must be Birds.'"

AugustaFinkNottle · 20/04/2016 15:20

I imagine SOC will send a man to save her.

To be fair, I don't think that's necessarily so. It appears pretty clear that Anna is lined up to do the job, probably with the help of Kirsty and Jess. It would be nice to think OldPat will defeat PatBot and also help, but that's not looking promising at the moment. I don't see any male knights in shining armour on the horizon, though I would hope that the various male and female Ambridgeites will wake up and start pooling their knowledge of Knob so as to begin to construct Helen's case.

whatevva · 20/04/2016 16:19

Never mind, all that fruit will make Knob explode, unless they have fitted him with a valve. Then it will be his mother what dunnit.

glowfrog · 20/04/2016 17:28

whatevva GrinGrinGrin

BeauGlacons · 20/04/2016 18:42

But will Jess speak up? Helen was the other woman after all and Rob was comparing Jess's inadequacies to Helen's superior quality as a woman before she left Knob.

There's a more tangled web to emerge I'm sure

Gruach · 20/04/2016 19:12

What is it with Pip?

If she had a drink with Joe I would be suspicious ...

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 20/04/2016 19:14

Pip klaxon

She's annoying

Grin
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/04/2016 19:15

I expect I'm on my own in enjoying this shepherd's hut storyline. I especially liked the way Eddie tried to find out what Lynda and Robert had been doing on her folding bed. Grin

EsmesBees · 20/04/2016 19:15

What an odd episode. I did like Ruth and Pip's conversation about Josh though. Ruth coming up with the marvellous idea the she might, maybe, just this once, try a bit of parenting and actually speak to her son.

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 20/04/2016 19:18

Why would Lynda need a sturdy bed?

I have the wonderful Victoria Wood song "Let's do it!"

Poor Robert

Gruach · 20/04/2016 19:24

I liked the fact there was a break from misery central. But I'm not happy with all the gushing praise Tom heaped on Pip. While she ignored a call from Matthew. Can't be doing with that sort of carry-on. What's to become of Kirsty?

EBearhug · 20/04/2016 19:37

Surely the sturdiness of the bed is in case they have friends stay over who would prefer a little rustic charm, rather than a proper comfortable B&B bed, and well - I have a sofa bed which prone to collapsing if you do anything overly active, such as breathe, so I'm in favour of sturdiness in fold-up beds.

And it's nothing to do with what you're all thinking! We had the shower scene. That's enough smut on TA for the next half-century.

Bea · 20/04/2016 19:44

EBearhug!! Sid and Jolene!! Thanks a lot for reminding me!!... Not!! Shock

BertrandRussell · 20/04/2016 20:39

It's funny- I can imagine Lynda and Robert having a very happy sex life.

GypsyFl0ss · 20/04/2016 21:26

Loved when Eddie suggested they bounced to test it out. I know they were just sitting but I'd visions of them laying side by side on it which brought my first Achers smile in a long time!

GypsyFl0ss · 20/04/2016 21:27

Or even Archers...bloody no specs on again.

Gherkinsmummy · 20/04/2016 22:22

I can see the prosecution ripping Kirsty and Jess's testimony to shreds. Kirsty the jilted bride out for twisted revenge on the bridge farm archers; Jess the jilted ex-wife. I don't know if I can be bothered to listen to Pat wailing anymore either. I get that it's difficult but wail in the other 23 hours of the day and use your allotted 13 minutes to do something useful!

EBearhug · 20/04/2016 22:25

I am truly, deeply sorry, Bea.

Although I've never been one to suffer trauma alone. A problem shared and all that...

DadDadDad · 20/04/2016 22:49

I thought MovingOnUp and I were joking when we had this exchange last week:

MOMO: Or maybe debates about whether the bed in Lynda's Sheperd's Hut is going to the big or strong enough for an amorous encounter.

Me: MOMO, we had an episode where Eddie was trying to find out Lynda's weight to make sure the hut's bed was up to the job. If the "job" involves two people on the bed then presumably it will fail given Eddie's corner-cutting. Is that the kind of discussion you were after?

The innuendo wasn't quite Carry On, but I think we should be more careful what we wish for? Blush

ColdTeaAgain · 20/04/2016 22:56

Caught up with last two episodes....

If Pat and Tone let Arsula take Henry to see Knob alone that will be the final bloody straw for me! Surely they have at least one brain cell rattling around between the pair of them?!

Problem is Henry was so pleased to see "Daddy" so they will think it's in his best interest ffs, unbearable! It seemed so weird how normal Henry was acting but I suppose young children do have that ability to seal off traumatic memories as a coping mechanism, so maybe that is the case with Henry but it still manifests in his nightmares... Either that or shite scripting. Again.

Loved tonight's with Lynda and Eddie, so nice to have some comic relief from the HellRob show.

Grauch Yep is starting to sound as if they are leading towards a fling with Tom and Pip, as if his life isn't bad enough right now!
