I like that link Lady Monica

I had a horrible thought today. Assuming Rob recovers won't he demand that he cares for Henry (as person with parental responsibility) rather than Pat and Tony. Even if Helen gets bail wouldn't Rob (no record of violence) be deemed a more fit parent than Helen (charged with wounding and who knows what else). Ursula would probably move in to Blossom Cottage to help.

What a nightmare scenario for not only Helen but also Pat, Tony and Tom, especially given that it was the fact that Rob had started to emotionally abuse Henry that prompted Helen to leave.

GypsyFl0ss · 06/04/2016 18:27

Oh what an awful thought Emily!

BYOSnowman · 06/04/2016 18:27

New statesmen article good but doesn't change the fact this is the same old story we get in every soap

An alternate ending would have been nice

Pipbin · 06/04/2016 18:34

Just checking in. That said I think I only read about three posts of the last thread.
It feels rather like my Archers listening history. I've been listening for years but I still have no idea what is happening or how people are related. Sometimes DH will ask who someone is and I won't have a clue.

Marchate · 06/04/2016 18:38

Thinking of Owen's trial he looked like being acquitted, then he made a nasty comment about 'bitches' deserving it

I hope Rob is questioned in court and says something dreadful

Vango · 06/04/2016 18:39

If I were a charity, advising script writers on such an important and sensitive subject, I think I'd like to be aware of the entire story arc before endorsing it so effusively and breaking out the applause. We can but hope for justice for Helen.

bigbuttons · 06/04/2016 18:44

I'm just really worried that all of Rob' atrocities will vanish in the face of the ridiculous stabbing. Is there going to be any justice at all here?

Limelight · 06/04/2016 18:45

Checking in, place-marking, and such like. We're having apple pie and TINNED custard for pudding tonight. I wish we had an apple pie emoticon.

HumphreyCobblers · 06/04/2016 18:45

"I predict Rob will be found out based on future not past actions.
I.e. Helen will be all set to get sent down. 11 hour intervention Just as it looks hopeless Rob will either be caught attacking her, stalking her or attacking someone else."

YY to this.

Also I BET Henry ends up going to Rob, I have been wincing ever since she gave him parental responsibility.

BYOSnowman · 06/04/2016 18:46

If you list out the things he did it doesn't sound that bad though. That's the problem with ea

The 2 slaps and the rapes are the only things people would be shocked by I think.

That's why her escaping and having to justify and then being proved to be reasonable etc would have been better

DadDadDad · 06/04/2016 18:48

If Rob recovers, he can return to BHC living off the criminal compensation(?), sending Henry to boarding school ("just like mummy at her prison") while carrying for his newborn son.

DadDadDad · 06/04/2016 18:49

*caring

Limelight · 06/04/2016 18:52

Maybe Patbot can move in and be his live in housekeeper.

EmilyDickinson · 06/04/2016 18:53

Would it be possible for the residents of Ambridge (and Jess) to work together to scupper Rob?

Jess reports Rob's rape and assault on her to the police.

Shula confesses her cover up and gets the police to re-open Rob's assault of the hunt sabateour.

Helen reports Rob's rape and assault of her.

Charlie and co do some more digging and charges are brought re fraud/theft at Berrow Farm.

Someone tracks down Stefan. Not quite sure what crime Rob will have committed there and what could be proved but there must be something.

BYOSnowman · 06/04/2016 18:54

It's a bit Agatha Christie!!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 06/04/2016 18:58

D3Shock at BS prison

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 06/04/2016 19:02

Re. New statesmN link.
however rare it may be, brutalised women do kill their partners.

But it is not rare in soaps. In fact it is what happened in all but one case of DV in soaps. All but ONE.
