If she was holding the knife at abdominal level he could have pushed himself onto it, and only the chest wound was inflicted by Helen really. < I have no idea what I'm talking about >

WhiteHairReally · 09/04/2016 17:39

www.telegraph.co.uk/radio/what-to-listen-to/helen-titchener-now-faces-a-legal-nightmare--if-only-rob-had-die/

I'm not sure if anyone has offered this already ( infrequently checking in to thread and relying on Lowfield to keep abreast of developments in Ambridge, as I'm travelling just now)

Matthew Scott aka #barristerblog suggests that it would actually be better for Helen legally if Rob was to die.

AugustaFinkNottle · 09/04/2016 18:12

What depressed me, particularly after the last episode, is that it tells abused women that routes to escape can and probably will leave you in a worse situation. Yes, there is a case for saying that it demonstrates the benefits of taking and following expert advice to be helped to leave safely, but I'm not sure that that is what a traumatised abused woman is going to take from this.

And yes, I really didn't want the uber-dramatic EE style crisis with lots of blood and gore and Helen being arrested. I would have derived deep satisfaction from her walking out safely with head held high and Knob being alive and well and thoroughly humiliated by uppity woman standing up to him, and by everyone finally joining the dots so that all his crimes and misdemeanours are thoroughly exposed. I can only hope now that at least that last bit will come about.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 09/04/2016 18:20

Even it does Augusta he will always be able to claim a degree of victimhood. And there is nothing abusive men love more than playing the wronged party.Sad

AugustaFinkNottle · 09/04/2016 18:32

All too true, SmallLegs. Sad

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 09/04/2016 18:37

He can say I was right she was mad. And if she gets off he can say can you believe it the bitch stabbed me twice (at least) and she gets off. The law always favours women blah blah blah. (I know he's not real)

Minimammoth · 09/04/2016 18:38

Agreeing with you both Small and Augusta. It's going to drag on unsatisfactorily

cheminotte · 09/04/2016 19:16

I know we've slowed back down to a normal pace again, but I think we're going to need a new title soon.

TheSilveryPussycat · 09/04/2016 19:19

augusta it was in hope of something like you describe that I kept up with what was going on. I even listened to one or two.

It's as if there's been a terrible Microsocsoft upgrade that makes everything go all wrong.

TheSilveryPussycat · 09/04/2016 19:26

I'm sorry, I'll type that again Wink

Micro soc soft

enochroot · 09/04/2016 19:30

Can Knobicide be worked into the next thread title?
I forget who coined it but it is so good.

HalsallRedux · 09/04/2016 19:44

I just heard the trail they evidently hope will lure new listeners into the film tomorrow. A montage of several of Knob's most chilling moments. I'm sure they're rubbing their hands in glee at the attention this is getting.

I'm really, really pissed off with the path they've taken. I've been in lurkdom, but listening, since the custard-soaked denouement and am now feeling simultaneously appalled, cheated and (dare I say it) bored. Because now there'll be tedium for weeks, months (a year, they said) while this all plays out, agonisingly slowly. And I'm not sure I can summon the energy to follow it.

They had such an opportunity with this SL, had built up great dramatic tension, and then they just threw it away by tipping over into the worst kind of sensationalism.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 09/04/2016 19:51

Empressa · 09/04/2016 20:25

Not sure if this has been covered but why is Henry (aged 5) played by what sounds like a far younger child? He sounds like a toddler rather than a school age child. I'd thought if anything they'd use a slightly older child actor.

It is almost absurd as Ruairi played by an Irish child actor even though he'd been living in Germany and Cambridge his entire life.

cheminotte · 09/04/2016 21:40

Do we know anything about the actor playing Henry or are you assuming based on his voice?

KathyBeale · 09/04/2016 21:43

Have we all seen this...

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 09/04/2016 22:05

Based on the voice chem and the conversational one.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 09/04/2016 22:05

conversational one = conversational level.

cheminotte · 09/04/2016 22:23

I agree he has a babyish voice but could this be bad acting, eg a 7 year old trying to sound younger? The lines he gets are obviously not his fault!
Not seen those Kathy - nice idea, but I'd rather give £5 to Refuge than spend £10 on a T-shirt with £2 or whatever going to Refuge.
