No more walking on eggshells for Helen! Heading for an eggsplosive Easter weekend in The Archers - will Helen Archer be resurrected by the end of this thread?

Helen knows she's not cracking up - Knob is an eggomaniac.

Are we eggshausted with this storyline?

Or a steaming pile of manure.

EBearhug · 30/03/2016 11:34

I'm totally weirded out by the logic of not allowing Hellin to sit on a hard chair in the village hall for half an hour but hauling her off to London for hours of sitting?

They were never actually going to go to a show. Rob was just acting wonderful husband, because Helen was at risk of showing independence and opinion, and he needs to do a bit of pro-Rob propaganda, in case she caused anyone to think she might have a point about him being an abusive arse (not that she's voiced that in such words to anyone.)

Having said that, speaking as a non-pregnant person, but with extensive experience of sitting around for hours on end - hard wooden seat in village hall vs plush upholstered seat in plush London theatre - I would prefer the padded seat of a proper theatre.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/03/2016 11:34

A Wicker Knob!

DadDadDad · 30/03/2016 11:42

But does a new smiley need to be widely advertised? I'm thinking of a case like [ tardis ] -->Tardis, which some of us know about, but is not listed on the screen.

recyclingbag · 30/03/2016 11:43

I don't think Rob ever intended to take Helen to London either. However it did the give Pat the chance to suggest a country hotel & offer to have Henry.

Rob can now say to Helen 'your mother is so worried about you she has suggested I take you away and leave Henry with her'

Job done.

recyclingbag · 30/03/2016 11:44

Could we stretch to a Scotch Egg emoticon.

It could be employed in all those 'isn't it fun to pretend to be working class' threads.

Kr1stina · 30/03/2016 11:46

No, calls from all health service numbers have caller ID blocked. So it would not say " midwife" , it would say " no caller ID"

Kr1stina · 30/03/2016 11:48

Sorry, I had failed to refresh thread and it's moving so fast . That was a reply to the person who said that Helens phone caller display would of have said " midwife " so rob must have made it up

Gruach · 30/03/2016 11:49
Star

It would fill me with delight to see some special thing happen to celebrate our 50 threads - but what is the emotion an Archers emoticon would denote?

Elendon · 30/03/2016 11:49

Gosh, the thought of Helen and Rob having a romantic weekend makes my blood run cold.

Kr1stina · 30/03/2016 12:02

Gruach - the emoticons are not all emotions, are they ? Like flowers , cake , wine and brew .

So an archers emoticon could convey a sentiment , like flowers , which gets used for 'congratulations , or ' I'm sorry for your loss ,

And cake / wine / chocolate which are used to mean ' look after yourself / treat yourself / relax after a stressful time '

SuffolkNWhat · 30/03/2016 12:03

Definitely a bull emoticon.

I worry that if Knob does take Hellin away it'll be to the coast Beachy Head and there'll be an argument in the car on a dark night...

Hoping that, unlike my Henwee/boarding school prediction, doesn't come true.

Gruach · 30/03/2016 12:06

Sentiment is almost certainly the word I was grasping for KR1stina - thanks!

So - what is the sentiment that might be denoted by an Archers emoticon?

DadDadDad · 30/03/2016 12:06

Well, obviously, I'm in favour of a bull smiley (I was the one who reported this thread to MNHQ with that suggestion - see my post last Saturday at 9:44). Spreadshit engaged - the "votes" so far are:

bull (or Bull pub sign)..StarStarStarStar*
cheese...................Star
pitchfork................Star
badger...................Star
manure...................Star
wicker Knob..............Star
scotch egg...............Star

Maybe we could have Bull for "this is The Archers we know and love" but then have manure so we can combine the two for a more critical comment. Grin

I haven't rigged this - me, plimsolls, Asking and Bore* all expressed this preference, but let's others a chance to vote and vote again!

recyclingbag · 30/03/2016 12:13

How does one fashion a wicker knob?

Asking for a friend

DadDadDad · 30/03/2016 12:14

Well, I'm not googling to find out, recycling!

SuffolkNWhat · 30/03/2016 12:15

With great care and plenty of sandpaper sharp edges

Kr1stina · 30/03/2016 12:16

I'd like an emotion which says

Run don't walk, he's an abusive arse

Is that what the knob one would mean ?

A badger would be cute but what what would it mean ? Ditto scotch egg and cheese ?

Do we want a symbol that means " the archers " ? Or do we want one that comes from the storylines or themes in the Archers that would be used more generally on MN. Eg the biscuit one

btw before it was biscuits it was bats. And when I first joined MN it was baby pasta

R4 · 30/03/2016 12:23

I was thinking along similar lines Kr1stina. I don't want the Official Emoticon that Encapsulates TA to be 'bull for bullshit'.Sad

Elendon · 30/03/2016 12:29

Well Borchester Blue was Helen's invention. It could be a symbol for 'run don't walk', I like that idea. Or that you do have it in you to make it good for you again.

Bajanella · 30/03/2016 12:30

A little bridge with the Am running under it? I.e. a grey bridge with three blue wiggly lines under it?

EBearhug · 30/03/2016 12:30

In honour of Psuedo - shouldn't it really be a badger

Or a dead badger, in honour of David.

Or a sheaf of wheat or barley. (I am expecting a level of detail on the icon, so we can tell the type of corn used.)

EBearhug · 30/03/2016 12:35

How does one fashion a wicker knob?

There was recently an article in - I think it was a free gardening magazine from Waitrose (I am being very middle class) - which had an article on weaving wicker sculptures. I suspect that will tell you how.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/03/2016 12:35

What about the Plarchers Rob figure? That could have a wide use on the Relationships thread.

'I don't really know why I'm posting here. I am so lucky. I have a lovely home, a gorgeous little boy, another baby due soon and my husband looks after me really well. He's a great father. It's just that I think sometimes he's a bit overprotective. He was worried when I had a minor bump in the car recently and so he told me I should stop driving and in fact he's taken away my car keys to make sure I don't..... [red flag after red flag follows] He's so great, why do I feel miserable and on edge all the time? What's the matter with me?'

15 posters reply in the first ten seconds with the Rob emoticon.

EBear - I'm putting you down for badger, but will take any other suggestions you want to make.
