I saw the top of an article in a Sunday paper about a "RL" wizarding school in ... Poland perhaps. Didn't have time to read the rest.Grin

I am very annoyed. Unless they're going to use this to explain that no such school exists this is a highly irresponsible rumour to spread. Once again I cannot follow the SW's logic.

I too wonder why Helen didn't pop round and see her mum.

I do hope the suggestion that Henry will be sent away will finally bring everyone to their senses.

My PIL who have listened to the archers since day one have stopped listening because I go Rob and Ursula. FIL did say he had read that this story will end soon, but he couldn't remember where he'd read it.

A shiny new thread! Marking place.

(I mean the baby boarding - not the wizarding, which is obviously completely legit.Grin)

So Ursula would pay for Henry to go to boarding school?

So plenty of dough.

I wonder how Rob explains his 'till and stock control operative' role at the shop? Does that make his mummy proud?

bakeoff do you think your FIL is DadDadDad ? That's why he didn't want to say where he read it

He'll have told her he's now a partner in the business ...

Henwee is getting on for 6 and the boarding schools website says boarders are from age 7 or 8 but younger children are accepted under exception circumstances.

Like mummy is locked up in a clinic for anorexics and hen needs a complete break from his environment?

Probably Cruella de Ursilla doesn't really know the ages and is just winging it.

Pat is vehemently against private school so it would be weird for her to accept it

And the fact boarding schools don't take 5yo

This is just becoming ridiculous

The only explanation I can put forward is, she thinks that if something was possible 'in her day', it must still be the case

But you can't just rock up. So presumably she's planting the seed now, ready for him to go in a year or 2.

But all very silly.

Regardless of what Tony said, I think Pat would have insisted on taking Henry round to Helen first thing in the morning and checking for herself.

It's not like she didn't have an excuse for popping in!

BUT.... Rob wasn't happy.

It's all getting too complicated for 15 minutes a day, with Lynda's pageant and Pip's love life as well.

I deliberately chose not to listen tonight, as i thought there would be nasty Mother's Day stuff in it. From the comments on here I'm glad I didn't.
But well done all those who predicted boarding school for Henwee - but what an absolutely bizarre SL.

I couldn't quite concentrate on the Mothers' Day story but I'm sick to death of Pip and her dad churning over the intimate details of her love life.

Maybe! I'm going to drop a few MN phrases into the conversation next time we met and see how he reacts. LTB, naice ham and Knob.

He will either know exactly where I'm coming from or think I'm deranged.

Or ask him some questions about statistics - then you'll know

So Rob wasn't happy at prep school but dare not contradict his mother? It's very confusing. Why is Ursula so invested in getting rid of Henry? Does she see him as some sort of cuckoo? I agree it's hard to get the nuance in 13 minutes.

I had the impression that Rob was doing that thing he does - having set up all the cards to fall the way he wants he then exhibits doubt and reluctance when someone else makes the fatal suggestion. So no one can blame him.

He's played that game so many times.

iirc Rupert Everett wrote a lovely and true thing about going to boarding school at the age of 6

it sounded unbearably cruel

Think Ursilla regards henwee as a dirty little bastard child who is reflecting his unknown parentage by misbehaving and bedwetting. She reminds me of the lady of the manor bestowing pennies on the scruffy urchins of the village looking gracious but down her nose at them.

Henwee is clearly not good enough to be around the chosen one and needs getting rid of, which suits rob as he will then have Hellin all to himself.

It was very sad to hear Hellin thinking knob was celebrating Mother's Day for her and it turns out it was for the old witch.

Arf @ Muddha

There's a long-running thread in Education about a boy of 8 away at boarding-school. It's a pretty, ahem, lively debate but there are some heartbreaking stories on there about the effects on children of separation from family when tiny. Awful.

So as predicted, Henwee is to be banished, and H airbrushed out of photos, leaving Knob, his Mummy and SOK to build their own happy family unit Hmm

I still can't listen, it's making me feel sick, heartbroken and angry, it makes me want to hit something.

BASTARD!

He's harping on about his unhappy childhood again and she says he was an obstreperous little chap. Well he still is so prep school didn't knock that out of him.
I hate, hate, hate that we're being fed a story that seems to let him off the hook and blame Ursula for being the arch villain. He put Helen under house arrest all on his own, took away her income all on his own etc etc.
And he doesn't like the whole business of pregnancy. He's quite repelled, despises Helen and sees her as a liability now that she's not the dream woman in the primrose dress that he wanted.
