Unthinkable.

Although maybe Jenny darling's oven does that.

ATailofTwoKitties · 09/03/2016 09:41

The start-hot-and-turn-down scenario is a good one, Recycling, because I would have thought that Arse and Knob always need to be Right in their own minds, and Helen Wrong. If either of them deliberately set her up to burn the food, surely even they couldn't pretend they were doing it because they know best?

GruntledOne · 09/03/2016 09:49

Anyone else wondering whether they used Tom's sausages in the Toad in the Hole? Maybe the next step is to blame him for producing inferior easily burnt sausages.

Imbroglio · 09/03/2016 09:52

So thats where the sausages are going... I bet rob is secretly addicted.

mummytime · 09/03/2016 10:04

I kind of liked the Pip Josh interaction.
I think Pip is starting to have her nose put out of joint by her younger brother. It could lead to a juicy storyline about inheritance sometime in the future. As long as the editor of the time (unlike Vanessa would have done) doesn't back out.
Pip really isn't happy that her brother is going to Uni is she?

Imbroglio · 09/03/2016 10:10

Pip has always been vile to josh and her parents have never, ever pulled her up on it.

Does anyone remember her making him do some of her course work while she was off shagging Jooood?

MeolsCop · 09/03/2016 10:20

Re the iPhone oven app - neighbours of mine used to turn on their lights and heating, and draw their curtains, remotely. He was in IT and their whole house was 'future-proofed' Hmm

The world has indeed gone mad. I walked past 2 old-fashioned red phone-boxes yesterday which bore 'to let' signs and a sticker proclaiming that they offered a 'retail opportunity' as cafes (?), 'confectionary' (sic) outlets, or shoeshine stands (again, ?).

I did briefly wonder whether there might be a future for Tom Archer Sausages-in-a-phone-box.

Yes I like this theory . So are they still gas lighting her ? I mean, are they deliberately saying to each other " let's drive Helen crazy "? Or is more " we assume Helen is a crazy so everything that goes wrong must be her fault " .

And " we are good people and want what's best for her, so if she doesn't cooperate with us, that's proof she's crazy " .

How does that fit with the deliberately nasty things Rob does ? Like having a present and flowers for his mother but not for Helen ? Or leaving her alone on Mother's Day ? Or saying " let's take a photo to show mummy what a great time we are having without her " ?

Sorry if I am asking too many rob / Helen questions BTW , I know some of you are Fed Up with it all

redshoeblueshoe · 09/03/2016 10:27

Tom's sausages in a phone box is that a euphemism Grin

Gruach · 09/03/2016 10:29

MeolsCop that made me laugh. Because in any future global disaster scenario the first things to disappear will be phone signals and the Internet.

Which isn't funny at all really ...

enochroot · 09/03/2016 10:35

And nuclear subs listen to radio 4. If that goes off it's the doomsday scenario. (I got twitchy when PM was late last week.)

recyclingbag · 09/03/2016 10:45

I'm not a DV expert, but possibly Rob doesn't actually think he is doing anything wrong. He is convinced in his own head that he is upstanding and righteous. So of course he should buy his mother things because she has been such a rock when his wife is so feckless.

All the people he is mean to deserve it in his head. He is not being deliberately nasty.

He only ever sees things in his own world, which is why things will never change and he will never see the error of his ways.

MrsArthurShappey · 09/03/2016 10:48

Ugh just listened to last night's episode. My heart's still thumping Angry Sad

polyhymnia · 09/03/2016 11:15

I always cook toad in olive oil too. Tastes good to us.

MeolsCop · 09/03/2016 11:45

redshoe Grin Grin

And Gruach - exactly!

IloveJudgeJudy · 09/03/2016 12:39

Just going back a bit ,- do pregnant people not see the midwife on their own? I always did, but my DC are 21-17. I find the storyline about Hellin always being accompanied quite hard to swallow.

GruntledOne · 09/03/2016 12:42

It's presumably the choice of the pregnant person, usually. I normally saw the midwife on my own because DH would have had difficulty taking the time off work and it wasn't really necessary for him to be there, but I guess if a husband/mother/mother in law turns up no-one is going to turn them away.

recyclingbag · 09/03/2016 12:42

I also think this would be a red flag to a midwife.

I thought they were very hot on that sort of thing.

WipsGlitter · 09/03/2016 12:46

At our local ante-natal clinic some people turned up with whole families in tow!

Putthetulipsthere · 09/03/2016 13:03

DS Clarke & Gasp- YY.

I too would love an all clear Klaxon to announce a Knob/Ursula free episode. I switched off last night after a few minutes of the toad in the hole saga. First time ever in 30 years of listening😭!!

KathyBeale · 09/03/2016 13:11

When I saw the midwife, there were domestic abuse information leaflets in the loo and on the sample pots they gave me. I always thought that was quite clever - so even if you were accompanied you'd go to the loo by yourself.

I still don't get it - wouldn't Knob bring food home from the shop (at cost? - although he'd probably just nick it). Surely there's most things you'd need there?

Klaxxon please. There's a 13 min a day except Sat hole in my life.

Boomingmarvellous · 09/03/2016 14:03

D abuse leaflets no good to Hellin as she doesn't believe she is being abused.

What the Hell happened with the bath water?!!!

Gherkinsmummy · 09/03/2016 14:08

I've just switched the radio off. Ursula's a prize beeatch and her voice sets my teeth on edge. I can't bear the bewilderment in Helen's voice any more.
