Not long until our thread's 3 year birthday!

Sorry to repeat myself but - there is no chance of Henry being sent to boarding school. He is five. Very, very few schools take boarders at seven now, for most it's eight years old and, by the time he's old enough, they'd need a new dowry from Peggy every term to pay for it. So it's not going to happen as part of this story. No matter how ill-informed the SWs allow themselves to be.

bigbuttons · 26/02/2016 21:34

As soon as the last scene ended with the "oh Rob" and "it's all right I'm here darling ." I immediately that it was just like a Tubbs and Edward scene in the League of gentlemen. IT was farsical.

ColdTeaAgain · 26/02/2016 21:39

That's my prediction too Booming right from when we heard Kirsty was taking the job at Grey Gables. Am dying to find out if it pans out that way! Tom was an utter idiot but I think he has grown up a lot since then, it would be nice to have a happy ending.

Imbroglio · 26/02/2016 21:40

No way would Rob be able to afford to send Henwee to boarding school. He'll be sent to the local state school but moulded to be useful to Rob, mainly as a bargaining chip with the Archers.

ColdTeaAgain · 26/02/2016 21:42

Also why is no one questioning why Ursula hasn't left yet? If this was real life, all the village gossips would be commenting on how it's a bit odd by now.

BYOSnowman · 26/02/2016 21:42

Tom cheated on her the first time and jilted her at the altar the second

Bertrandrussell's head will implode if they have Kirsty trusting him again!!

BYOSnowman · 26/02/2016 21:42

We need to hear some susan

Trojanhorsebox · 26/02/2016 21:50

Goodness I hope it's all going to unravel now. Kirsty won't let this drop - she's connected to Fallon, Pat, Tom - either directly or via Roy - there are so many people she could talk to. If any of Helen's family heard Rob speak the way he did to Kirsty, surely someone would do something?

Good as it was to hear Helen suggest he get a job, or that Johnny can stay, it's those quiet subversive disobedient little remarks that could make him flip.........it's well acted but horrible to listen to, it needs to stop or I will be seeking out the off button!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 26/02/2016 21:51

Yeah a reunion might be a gappy ending for Tom but he's hardly a prize for Kirsty. Here have your cheating, fickle, pork product obsessed ex.

I hope he realises she deserves better and they become friends.

Trojanhorsebox · 26/02/2016 21:54

I agree, Tom and Kirsty might be able to work together to save Helen, and goodness only knows they seem to be the only ones who have twigged there's a problem, but it would be unrealistic to see them get back together as a couple, and she certainly deserves better.

ColdTeaAgain · 26/02/2016 21:58

He cheated? Did not know that! When did that happen?

FinestGrundyTurkey · 26/02/2016 21:58

who is better & available though? Roy? Toby? Justin? Bert?

Tom is a different chap these days (in all senses hahaha)

FinestGrundyTurkey · 26/02/2016 22:00

It was a supermarket sausage buyer, ColdTea. a looong time ago. not sure how much actual cheating occurred though.

Imbroglio · 26/02/2016 22:13

I am confused about tom's sausages - I thought he had sold that business when he went to Canada?

FinestGrundyTurkey · 26/02/2016 22:15

oh, the sausage buyer infidelity was Brenda, not Kirsty! (just googled)

ColdTeaAgain · 26/02/2016 22:20

Yes would rather she got back with Tom than ended up with Roy. I've been a regular listener about 5-6 years, before then was a bit patchy and missed a huge chunk when I went travelling so the cheating incident must of been before my time!

ColdTeaAgain · 26/02/2016 22:21

Whoops cross posted! Thanks Finest! Grin

Gruach · 26/02/2016 22:24

Well whoever you googled is wrong! Tom was unfaithful to Kirsty and then dumped her. And when the supermarket sausage deal fell through he had to go into partnership with Brian.

He was never unfaithful to Brenda - which is why she can waft in and out at will feeling superior.

ColdTeaAgain · 26/02/2016 22:25

Imbroglio as I recall he just upped and left and didn't sort out anything so Pat and Tony kept it going while he was away in the hope he would come back to it. He is bloody lucky they were so good to him tbh.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/02/2016 22:31

Was the near-cheating with Kirsty way, way back when Lynda put on The Mikado and a young woman with a golden voice materialised in Ambridge to take the lead role? Can't remember names or details beyond that, but I do seem to recall that Kirsty and the YWWAGV both twigged that Tom was sweet on the latter and they played some sort of trick on him. I thought even then it was all a bit off.

It was the ready meals business he sold off, wasn't it?

As for this evening, my god. If I'd been in Blossom Hill Cottage I'd have sought out the vacuum cleaner and thwacked him on the head. Not a court in the land would convict.

Imbroglio · 26/02/2016 22:32

Maybe its the ready meals I was thinking of - I'm sure he had to sell something to pay for the wedding.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 26/02/2016 23:01

Gruach, I misread this:

He's made some disastrous decisions over the years, one of the more memorable being to get romantically involved with ruthless supermarket buyer Tamsin. She dumped both him and his sausages with indecent haste, causing the loss of his dignity and almost his business.

Bailed out by Brian Aldridge he soldiered on, crying on the shoulder of Brenda Tucker.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 26/02/2016 23:09

Doing a bit of Archers arithmetic and hoping that:
a) Feedback reporting that 3 in 4 listeners unhappy & threatening to switch off due to HelRob
Plus
b) Tonight's episode with Helen re-discovering her voice (however feeble) and Kirsty hitting the nail on the head
Just might equal
AN IMMINENT END TO THE SL.

I live in hope.

Oh, and does anyone have a screwdriver so we can tinker with PatBot and expedite this nonsense?

LillianGish · 26/02/2016 23:10

I suppose it's pointless to hope with all the flood commemorations that the culvert skulduggery might be revisited?

EBearhug · 26/02/2016 23:19

Tom met Kirsty when they went out trashing GM crops together - I think he got into trouble with Brian about that. I can't remember if they met because they were both trashing GM, or he came to trash GM as a way of impressing Kirsty.

Then there was the Mikado in the village hall, and Lauren and Kirsty were both in it, I think. Tom was going out with one of them at the time, and the other was kissing him as part of the Mikado, and the other one got jealous, and it lead to one of those scenes where the main character is dropping out of the Christmas show, and they'll have to call the whole thing off.

I think Tamsin came after Lauren. And then Brenda. And then Kirsty.

Oh God, I need to get a life...
