Did someone mention that Adam got an unsigned one and Ian's miffed?

enochroot · 20/02/2016 19:38

They had their tiff off air.

enochroot · 20/02/2016 19:39

It was probably from Charlie but I suppose it might have been Rob stirring some more.

Gruach · 20/02/2016 19:40

Yes, IIRC we heard it from Jenny in conversation with .. Lillian I think. Hand delivered too.

I seriously doubt that Charlie would do anything so disruptive - and who would he have got to deliver it? So ...

Scarydinosaurs · 20/02/2016 22:27

It has to be Rob sending the cards. Another silly storyline.

Openmindedmonkey · 20/02/2016 22:58

Surely the postmark is a clue to where The Card came from (assuming it wasn't just pushed through the letterbox) Even Rob couldn't have travelled to Scotland to post one to Adam just to stir things up with Ian, could he??

EBearhug · 20/02/2016 23:23

It seems more common to receive post which hasn't been properly postmarked these days. And if it has been, there's no guarantee it's legible.

squeaver · 20/02/2016 23:59

Grown adults do not continue to talk about Valentine's Day five days after the event. Nor do they send anonymous cards.

And, yes, that INEVITABLY it's all Mummy's fault.

Honestly.

Partron · 21/02/2016 07:29

The valentines day thing is such lazy boring writing.

AnnieNoMouse · 21/02/2016 08:17

And the Ian and Adam Valentine's tiff - we know about it because Jill and Peggy were discussing Valentines days later, which means Jill knew about it because 40-something Adam had told Mummy all about it - yeah, right Hmm

Gruach · 21/02/2016 08:19

Oh was it Jill and Peggy? (I preferred my version.Grin)

Silly story anyway.

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 08:35

I thought it was Jenny and lil

Adam seems to have told Jenny about his fling with pawel as well- odd relationship those two have

AnnieNoMouse · 21/02/2016 09:04

Jenny and Lillian then, my error.

lljkk · 21/02/2016 10:30

I don't understand this thread.
Ursula being a 2-faced weasel may somewhat explain why Rob is the same... but it's an explanation not an excuse and cannot make a man's mother more despicable than himself. A middle-aged man is a lying self-centred selfish bullying pillock only because he chooses to be.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 21/02/2016 10:34

I spight out Philip Pullman on twitter just to favourite that tweet re. Ursula and realism.

The one story they had right is now going wrong. My disbelief suspenders cannot take much more strain. They are going to snap and give someone a right slap on the arse.

Gruach · 21/02/2016 10:37
Grin
SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 21/02/2016 10:43

lljkk that is true but it is the pantomime implausibility of them ganging up together after a backstory that suggested they barely talked that most posters are objecting to. Lose the realism lose the point.

And why pick his dm to be the bad influence? It is far more likely he would be copying his fathers style of behaviour.

My main objection is the lack of credibility.
But I also object to the laziness of giving him a female henchman for his abuse. It plays yet again into the what about the poor menz response that comes up everytime DV is mentioned. Yes some men are victims of dv. Yes a proportion of those men are the victims of female abusers but DV is not a gender balanced issue. It is overwhelmingly perpertrated by men against women. Just because you portray a male abuser does not mean you have ro wheel in a female one to redress the balance.

BertrandRussell · 21/02/2016 11:19

It's the pantomimeishness. And the tedious stereotyping- like all the threads on here where people are complaining about their partners and saying "I blame his mother".

Partron · 21/02/2016 11:21

How DARE they make robs behaviour excusable by his mother!!! How bloody dare they I have stopped listening.

Butteredparsnips · 21/02/2016 11:36

Arghhhh well that was about as subtle as a train crash. Too good to be true mother - of - cunty - knob turns out to arseula after all.
Was this written by a six year old?

recyclingbag · 21/02/2016 12:42

I'm hoping this is a blip just designed to move the story along a little.

I don't think you can demand realism and the complain the story is dragging on.

An accurate portrayal will last years.

GruntledOne · 21/02/2016 13:46

I wish they'd have just one episode where someone asks Knob how come his parents were the big bad wolves a year ago but his mother is suddenly fine to come and look after/guard SOK's incubator.

Stickerrocks · 21/02/2016 15:33

I'm with yougruntled. Nobody has raised it & it's glaringly obvious.

NotdeadyetBOING · 21/02/2016 15:49

Also with you Gruntled. The whole thing is just preposterous.

Tootyfilou · 21/02/2016 16:02

De lurking to say how mich I enjoy this thread. Some great posts and I agree with everything that is said. This current development is beyond ridiculous, it makes a complete mockery of the DV storyline.
Bern an Archers fan for years and have thoroughly enjoyed this( sometimes v hard to listen to) storyline, but its too silly now and I think I am going to stop listening for a bit. Feel let down by the SW they are underestimating the intelligence of their listeners I think.
As a brief aside... Remember a few weeks ago when there was a discussion about wine fridges?
Well I always wonder when Jenny offers Brian a cup of coffee why we never hear any coffee noises ?
I cannot fir one miment imagine that they drink instant coffee
And I do think that when Jenny had her new fancy-pants kitchen it would have had a state-of-the-art bean to cup machine.
